blame to the "new" education system ... wat type of moral subject been educated to them ? or mayb due to it's an exam subject .. so after exam
no need to practice moral ..... pass alridi meh ! doh.gif rclxub.gif

only those who didn't sat for moral exam.. need to practice moral as not been educated in school last time.... ! Hahahahaha

pls check your PM box.. Tha. else if you are not familiar with the command in postin photos pls let me know, i will send you my email add.

else just post it here..

Type of guzheng: 21 strings or 23 strings?
Origin :- if u know ... Dun huang from Shanghai, Zhuque from Xian, Tianyi from Yangzhao, etc
Model : if u know

pls refrain from selling to shops as they will heck the price to dirt cheap..... and not worth selling at all....

if the guzheng is normal one i am sure there will be beginners willing to buy...... if its a thumbup.gif one we can talk.

lrm8888,
As Subang said your are better off selling it to a beginner. You are happy, the buyer is happy. I dont see any reason why you cant wait a little longer for a buyer to surface in this thread. We had a few people ask about buying guzheng in this thread. You are the first case for selling guzheng. Give it some time I am sure a beginner in need of a guzheng will pop up soon. smile.gif

I have 2 girls and they have expressed their interest in learning music. I am keen in letting them try pick up gu zheng as i feel that maybe too many people r learning piano. i was advised to let them learn piano first as it is a better 1st instrument as it will allow them to move easily to another instrument later on.

Appreciate some advice?

klhc....true. A good Piano foundation will make learning other instruments a lot easier. Piano requires independant control from each hand. This trains the brain to multi task at the same time.

Reason you see soooooooooooooooooooo many millions of people play guitar is because guitar is many times easier than playing a piano.

KLHC,
It is knowledge of music theory that allows a person to move from one instrument to another. Take the note duration as an example. Once you know how long your should hold a note in any instrument, you have a lesser learning curve when you start another instrument.

The other area is dexterity. Certain instrument had similar dexterity. The guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele had almost similar dexterity skill. Again the learning curve is shorten for person moving within instrument of similar dexterity.

On comments that the piano is a good first instrument that help you move into other instrument, I do not fully agree. On one hand it is quite clear that there is no dexterity edge when you move from piano to guitar. On the other hand piano syllabus places a lot emphasis on music theory to give people a good foundation in music. For that matter classical guitar syllabus also place the same kind of emphasis on music theory.

I think it is best you let your daughters choose what instrument they like. It is their interest that will motivate them to commit themselves to practise. Music theory can be very boring. People just want to play something to feel a sense of accomplishment.

lrm8888,
Do post a pic here. I think, like Subang, I had seen enough guzheng to be able to tell what kind of guzheng you are having with just a pic. Do give us a pic of the front also. I will define front as the side of the guzheng. It is not the side that the player sit on but the opposite side. This is this side that faces the audience. That is why I call it the front. Manufacturers always place their logo on the front (good advertisement).

ha. empire, la bella will disagree with the guitar statement la.

i am sure the guitar gods in the guitar thread dun agree with u.

the reason is more like sing along guitar is easier to pick up and guitar is also much much much cheaper to start

well... i have to admit that piano builds better musicality in general.

what faceless said about theory is true, but it is also true that tradition Chinese music is relatively simpler than their western counterparts. There are changes in the traditional music scene in recent decades when more established western music ideas are introduced into the music, but that is still no where near the range and depth of western music.

i always wonder why, for all its cultural and artistic achievements, the Chinese never really went into music with the same gusto.

and KLHC1964, gauging the instrument is really difficult, just have to expose them to more instrument. your girls are still young and you can instill in them the love for any instrument, i am sure Subang can give you some tips.

KLCH,
You said your girl expressed interest in learning music. When they told you that, what instruments were they referring to?

When I was a child, I wanted to learn music too. Actually it was not music I wanted to learn but the piano. I watch the church pianist play and was intrigue by it. During music period in school days, the music teacher playing the piano can stir the same interest in me. Some of the bigger boys in the neighbourhood were into strumming a few chords on the guitar as they belt up a song. That did not appeal to me although I end up self learning guitar this way.

The short and simple answer to your question is "ask them".
