you will be surprised how many people actually choose a course of study in oz for the reason of it being an in-demand profession and to optimise their chance of getting a pr...........mostly from prc and india.........but increasing so from msia as well............
real world reality check.........
I am aware of this, but I'm questioning the risks involved. Occupations in demand favourable for migration change all the time and it is difficult to tailor a degree towards achieving this (are you willing to switch majors halfway through your degree if it changes?). The chances of one graduating with dismal results or even failing to graduate is much higher if one is taking up a degree that they have absolutely no interest in, thus gaining little knowledge or skill that would be valuable to the workforce and potentially ruining their future. This is one of the main reasons why we're seeing scores of unemployed graduates not because there aren't enough jobs, but because they are of dubious quality.real world reality check.........
What I'd usually propose is to choose an area (a reasonable growth industry, not something too niche and limited) where one is interested to study in and strive to excel, gaining relevant experience along the way. Upon graduation, there is likely going to be opportunities both in Australia, Malaysia or in other countries. So, it happens that this is not a current skill in demand in Australia, but that doesn't shut out migration opportunities outright. It may take longer due to the current unfavourable economic climate, but you're better off having a good job in Malaysia (even if you have to return home) which you landed based on your excellent credentials and skills than to suffer being jobless in Australia/Malaysia because you chose to study a course that you're not interested in and perform poorly.
