northwood 512kb cache. prescott 1MB cache.
northwood cooler than prescott.
generally prescott can overclock better than northwood.

to answer the question which is better; actually both same in day to day usage basis, clock to clock comparison.

The newer flash version is very CPU demanding,P4 is having a difficult time to handle and you will experience lag in FB. wink.gif

what edmin meant is there's a song on radio, by a group called boys like girls, featuring another artist, taylor swift.

the title 2 is better than 1, also fits the pentium D > pentium 4 thing laugh.gif

Off course, definitely 2 cores is better than 1 core. I see the Pentium G9650 is not bad on i3.

Yes,have problem with SATA usage. The crappy mobo will hang when in use. The solution we can go is to get a SATA to ATA converter.

that mobo has SATA chipset issue, most likely due to the early adoption of SATA that time. i concur to raymond's suggestion, get a SATA->IDE converter.

edmin,i don't think that is the issue of adopting earlier version of SATA. I guess their engineers did not rework on that because it is a low end mobo.

ray, it's a confirmed hardware bug due to the way the SATA controller is implemented on this particular mobo wink.gif Some VIA motherboards also affected.

Stock clock comparison, the northwood will win
Overclocking contest and overclocked results prescott will win, 1MB L2 cache will make the difference

But cons for prescott is the heat

@edmin,i have no idea with the problem. Aren't the high end S478 mobo from Asus are using the SATA implementation too?

yes, but the controller + chipset differs for the lower end series to cut cost. wink.gif Higher end mobos have RAID, remember?

@edmin,ya i remember. That's why after this purchase of low-end Asus,i will try to avoid their low-end mobo in the future.
