Seem like everybody aiming for the 3G..is the speed fast enough?
i think wifi is better. now most of everywhere provide free wifi. mcd, kfc, starbuck and etc..but why 3g?? if there is no 3g coverage..so is it gonna use edge connection to surf?

Think of it as flexibility. If there is a 3G signal you just use 3G, most cases you may not be around an area with Wi-Fi so it is useful. Then if you are in an area with Wi-Fi, turn off 3G and switch on Wi-Fi instead smile.gif

Most people here seem to opt for the iPad Wi-Fi + MiFi kind of route.

From my research mostly all Huawei products works with multi sim but to play safe before u buy kindly test it before paid. That MiFi is good but use non standard battery for charging as the 3G will consume a lot of energy .

So far the best i read that Digi will come out for micro sim with RM 58 unlimited data . Fair usage is 3GB but if u use more they will throttled the speed but no additional charge for exceeding their limit. Recent Digi post in facebook they are crazy to bring the microsim for #iPad. Maybe Digi will sell it first before Maxis who knows?

Would usually cover the side but maybe not the top bezel, posted something similar in one of my posts when I applied something similar to my unit.

Your friend totally wrong. WiFi model will be first entering our market. And iPad not categorized as Computer.
I got this info from one of the employee in Apple Malaysia (Damansara Office)

Yes, sometime WiFi is better connection compare with 3G. Also no need to think of paying data bill end of month.
But WiFi or 3G actually is depend on personal needs.

So far nothing yet (as far as I know). However, according to rumour sites, it is very likely the next iPhone will also use the microsim.

After that, as usual, every tom, d*** and harry will start using microsim.

not for apps store but for iPad..when 1st time on your iPad u need to register(but can register later)..so u guys register or not..if yes...u guys put US address or MY address?
*
Think what he meant is when using the iTunes App store on the iPad itself you need to have a US account because you cannot browse MY store on the device yet though you are free to do so as per norm on your PC and Mac and then sync the stuff over. Kind of irritating though. I sync both MY and US store apps onto my iPad and when the MY apps have updates I cannot update from the device itself, have to update on the PC or Mac iTunes then sync it over.

what kind of example you need ipad to do your daily tasks?

after using ipad for a week, here's my finding:

1. browsing is really speedy and nice. however, you cannot open lots of webpages/tabs at the same time, as the cache will not hold even 1 page of intensive images. you browse through it, it'll clear the first half of the page while you scroll further down. even install some plugins for the safari, you still can't download some of the files like you can (for virtually any files) on windows/Mac. oh, no flash if you like to play facebook...

2. i'm no gamer, and i do find some of the games got bored after playing long time. they're fancy to look at though, make you "happy" because you have something cool in your hand, which will eventually fade away.

3. video and audio is SUPERB, especially video. watching 720HD on ipad is incredibly sharp and clear with vivid colours. audio is very low noise, crisp and clear (well ipod range has been really good on audio quality) given that you use a better headphone you can really enjoy it. i also output the ipad to a pair of better speakers and my students and colleagues are amazed by the output quality.

4. i'm a musicians, having a dictionary of lead sheets in my ipad and using them is really handy and convenient. browsing through 500+ pages of scanned music scores (in jpg format) has got NO lag. the size is also very nice, but for full piano scores not big enough but i don't need full piano scores. not to mention playing in the dark don't have any lighting problems. brows.gif

5. same as no.4, you can have scanned copies of mangas or books in either ibook or pdf formats where you can read them comfortably on ipad due to the screen size and display quality.

6. i use this for educational purpose, and the battery is basically infinity. one charge enough to last for few days of teaching (video tutorials/music backing tracks).

7. virtual keyboard in landscape mode works really well and feels like a 12inch screen laptop keyboard. if you know how to type the qwerty way, it works wonder. although it's still not physical keyboard, expect to take some time getting used to it.

remember, it's not a full fledged mobile internet solution which many of the people will probably use the device for. netbook or slim notebook is probably a better choice if you want more than just browsing basic webpages, checking mails etc. treat the ipad as giant itouch, what is limited on itouch (software wise) is basically the same on ipad.

i love my ipad because it suits me almost to the max - video tutorials, music backing tracks, music lead sheets are the 3 main thing that i need to use when teaching and it really shines on those. thumbup.gif

PS: i tried the Fiio E1 http://www.fiio.com.cn/en/showproduct.asp?id=316 and it works on ipad. high quality sound! biggrin.gif
