Hi guys, do you think that the iPad should get its own sub-forum? Just a thought. I think eventually it may need it, what with all the apps etc coming out for it.

Cool! I saw an iPad in class today. Love the size of it but can't help feeling like it is an ipod touch XL.
*
In some ways you are right, it IS like an iPod Touch XL. At the same time, it is so much more, mainly due to the larger screen.

I can't wait to see what will come in the following months. Exciting times.

Guys, need an opinion, plan to buy a mini laptop which cost 1k+, as this ipad also cost around, which is the ideal choice? what funny and extra thing can this ipad do compare to mini laptop?
*
My answer is, depends what you want to use it for.

I would readily recommend the iPad over a netbook in general, but it may not be suitable in some cases. For personal use, internet browsing, occassional work, games, iPad is my recommendation.

My only reservation is if you want to do serious work on it (Word documents, spreadsheets etc). There are workarounds, but you need to see if this suits you or not.

I think the Dodocase for iPad is very beautiful, especially for fans of Moleskine. Leather case which emulates the look of a Moleskine notebook.

I think it was reviewed on TUAW and Engadget.

I have heard that a few iPad users are experiencing this problem. Videos keep hanging. Not aware of any solutions yet. Were you able to watch movies on it previously?

ya no problem before , still thinking what might cause it first movie is around 500mb and the second one is around 300mb so file size is not the reason i suppose , previously watching movies was fine even a 2gb file was smooth, the only difference circumstances  that i could think of for now is that previously my hd is less then 50% full now it is almost 90% full

maybe i was updating app on the background not so sure gonna do a test later...
*
Wow 16GB almost full? What did you load up on it? I bought 16GB iPad because on my iPhone never even reached half full.

Haha thats mean (i very the melayu one) u dontch fully utilize ur iphone tongue.gif my ipod always 90% full, 60 percent of that usually torrent movie DLs XD

My movies in ipod usually 600mb tho encode using dvdvideosoft. In ipad its up 2g at 600x400 so still need to tinker with preset.
*
Ahh ok movies, makes sense. Same here, loaded movies onto my iPhone in the beginning, then got tired of the process, now only a few Aikido vids I look at for reference. I somehow feel that with the iPad I won't install as many apps as on the iPhone though, what do you guys think?

Anyone have tried any Mind Mapping App for iPad..?
*
I am currently waiting for iMindMap for iPad, only because it comes from Buzan, so it will follow the laws of mind mapping as set out by Tony Buzan. There will be several others coming onto the market as well.

If it is not urgent, I think the best thing to do would be to wait, and see who comes out with the best implementation.

Anyone have tested any "To-Do" Apps? Which one is the best?
*
You can check 'Things' out. I haven't tried it on iPad personally, but use it on both iPhone and MacBook, and love it.

One warning though, it is one of the more expensive apps at USD19.99. It depends on how important the To-Do app is for you. I use it for work, which has made it totally worth it for me.

Sigh. Today's hunting results. Zero iPads. Called all Apple Stores from Manhattan Village to Costa Mesa up north down to my own place near Newport Beach, ZERO IPADS.

Manage to secure a couple of iPad Docks, iPad VGA Connector Kit, and stock myself tons of iTunes Gift cards, USD300 iTunes gift cards of 12 x USD25 cards. The only hope is tomorrow as business day, and hoping Apple restocks them.

Talk about wrong timing, big time!
*
My friend reporting same thing. He suddenly needed to go to US, so was planning to get a couple, but told me yesterday two stores were sold out, so far zero as well. Really a shame, as it was a great opportunity at the time.

How long you staying there for?

Do you buy any case for your ipad? if yes, what brand is it?
*
Ordered this a couple of days back, but haven't received it yet. DODOCase. Handmade, and looks like a Moleskine notebook.

I like it because it makes the iPad inconspicuous when you bring it out. A bit pricey in my opinion, but the closest to what I want for now, since it is still very early days for iPad cases, so went for it.

CAreful with the Dodocase. Youtube video of their demo of that case shows that the 4 rubber corners that holds the iPad fails to keep the iPAd when upside down. Just in case you do have it in that position, your iPAd may fall off.

*
Thanks, I was aware of this, but its good to highlight though, for everyone else here.

This isn't a case you buy for serious protection, in my opinion. More for a bit of style (if you like Moleskine) and a bit of light protection, to place in sling bag etc.

should i dump my iphone 3g and get ipad 16gb wifi only?
with around AUD$630, the price seems ok for me..

This is a difficult question to answer. I currently have both the iPhone 3GS and iPad, and in love with both devices.

However, they are very different devices in terms of usage. My iPhone is with me 24/7. I check emails, Facebook, sometimes chat. I surf my news sites, check my To-Do list and play light games on it.

So far, my iPad stays at home (no case, this may change once the case I ordered arrives). I read some books, comics, surf the net (almost my favourite thing on the iPad). All the other things, a bit of games, and sketchbook, are only cos I've done the above, and just don't want to switch the iPad off due to its addictive nature.

My conclusion is the iPhone is an 'active' tool, which I use often as it is always with me. The iPad is a 'passive' device, not essential, but wonderful whenever I pick it up.

So, in an attempt to answer your question, I would say, it depends, on whether you would prioritize what you do on the iPad, over what you do on the iPhone. That being said, the iPad will mesmerize you.... (I know, not helping)

Ok, just to check. Anyone here already with an iPad 3G? Would be very interested to see how easy it is with regards to activation etc, and the overall experience.

Also, I agree with stringfellow. I was so excited about the iPad 3G in the early days, until I saw that black strip at the top. Somehow, a bit of the design magic disappeared. Oh well, there's always the iPad +mifi option.

Maxis introduces the Micro SIM card to its users. I have a feeling they will offer the iPad 3G very soon :-) http://bit.ly/b8N1Nq
*
Not sure if they will offer it early. It might be to prepare for the coming iPad 3G, at the same time, it may be a tactic to get the patronage of those who will import their iPad 3G, ahead of its official launch here.

Lastly, maybe, (and I hope), its a sign that iPhone 4G will be available the moment it is announced in June.

Exciting times ahead.

Hi, I bought a ipad 3g from ebay now i am waiting for the delivery to malaysia. I will update here when after I got my unit. Please do keep intouch. I will let u know later.

See u
*
Thanks. Will be interested to hear your experience.

iPad apps are available on your current iTunes Malaysia account. This will have to be done on your PC for now, using iTunes, then sync to your iPad, just like your iPhone.

You only need a US Account if:

1. You want to buy directly from the App Store on your iPad, or
2. You want apps currently available in the US App Store only, such as iBooks

What other devices in malaysia require to use micro sim either then ipad?
*
So far nothing yet (as far as I know). However, according to rumour sites, it is very likely the next iPhone will also use the microsim.

After that, as usual, every tom, d*** and harry will start using microsim.
