I have no problem "being naked" (i meant gadgets) la bro, in fact most of my stuff are. But for this case, I needed the stand function more than the protection.

Very sexy stand! Wuah... limited some more...
*
What about the Jadu Skadoosh stand, or Griffin A-Frame? I initially was into all these case cum stand, but their flimsiness just turns me off. Some are wobbly, and in time, will wear out the mechanism that holds the joints because of the iPad's weight.

I was targetting the Quirky Cloak as well, but the prototype video on Youtube is just depressing. Flimsy, the joints all are unstable and even in the video, it came off! doh.gif

Wei, a tip on the Macally case you have. Stick the hard panel under your iPad and not leave the softer flap hang on to the iPad's weight. The guys at Macrumors forum found out that if you leave it in the default config, the weight of the iPad resting on the soft flap will cause it to "trapeze"wobble and not so nice to type when it is on that slant angle. Pull the hard section UNDER the iPAD in slant mode so that it sturdier.

Just a point to ponder for those waiting for the locally available iPads. Bear in mind, if tradition is followed closely, the next-generation iPhone will be announced on June, and made available in July, from past history. Unless you're not planning to get the next-gen iPhone as well, you may end up facing two pricy purchases either two months in a row or worse, on the same month!

This is assuming the next-gen iPhone is made available immediately here, looking at we having two officially licensed carriers carrying the iPhone here. Personally, I'd rather spread my purchases apart so that the bank account recovers. tongue.gif

All this does not matter if you do not plan to purchase the next-gen iPhone when it comes out in July, or choose to delay that purchase till much later. Me? I already have someone standing by for me in Melbourne for that anticipated purchase. smile.gif

Called him to ask on your behalf just now, was told in mid-June but there's no tentative date. And as usual, Apple is always secretive about the date.
It all depends on shipping date, holding up by customs, etc.. But it's in June la, that he can confirm for sure, if goes by the plan. smile.gif

Watched CNBC yesterday, police raided the house of a blogger who unveiled the 4th Gen of iPhone. It also shows the the guy explaining the new features of the iPhone.
The outlook is quite sleek and instead of curvy at the back, it's flat this time. Saved for the fact it looks slim, otherwise looks like my sony ericsson. haha  biggrin.gif

Jason Chen, Editor of Gizmodo. He paid in excess of USD5000 on behalf of Gawker Media, the parent company of Gizmodo for that lost next-gen iPhone. Apple being this crazy and protective of the unit, it must be the real deal. I personally dont like the look, especially with the cheesy volume button, and the boxy look. Makes it look like a plain HTC /PDA WinMo device.

Another great purchase made! This time in a form of an app called Atomic Browser.

Atomic Browser trumps Safari, IMO, in three things. Most importantly, tabbed browsing has arrived! No more switching between pages with that zoom-in/out effect on Safari. It also allows offline viewing as well, the tabbed pages stays where they are, instead of having to be refreshed, hence having the need for internet connection, unlike Safari. It also allows full screen browsing. and lastly, put in any of your preferred search instead of Google. EDIT: They've also added two- and three finger gestures command customization as well. Holy shit! shocking.gif

The biggest trump card to me is that tabbed browsing. My surfing habits involves opening lots of browser windows and with this, it's a perfect fit!

There are Lite version if you feel like trying, but for 99cents, it is a steal!

iTunes purchase link: Atomic Web Browser

Atomic Web Browser is a Universal app, meaning purchasing this for the iPad also gives you the iPhone version for free, and formatted just as nicely on the iPhone as well. Enjoy! rclxms.gif

More good news coming! Good for the iPad, bad for the pocket. tongue.gif

QUOTE
Editor Steve Harris:

"Now that Apple has finally unveiled the iPad, a piece of hardware that blew away pretty much everyone at launch, even more people will be sampling these new kinds of publications. And that's a great thing. As I mentioned in a Facebook post many weeks ago, we are now developing an iPad solution and hope to introduce it very soon. Before we show off what we've been working on, however, we want to make sure that the experience it delivers takes full advantage of the special things that only digital can do.

Some publishers have done very nice jobs of repurposing their existing content into an iPad format, but I think many are missing an opportunity to change the way magazines communicate with readers at a more fundamental level. In my opinion, there are things about print that just don't translate well to digital (and vice-versa). It's part of the growing process that any new technology undergoes, I imagine, but the features we're creating for EGMi adhere to this approach (even more than what you've seen in the Lost issue).

It's this experience that we're working hard to convey in our iPad edition. Stay tuned for more information -- we're hoping to reveal the first iteration of EGMi on the iPad very soon."

My favourite gaming news magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly, will be made available in digital format finally! No more standing at kedai mamak magazine and waiting for the next edition to arrive, or sometime not arrive at all. If all of this pans out, this will be my first magazine subscription on my iPad. rclxms.gif

My criteria for a case is even stricter: It has to fit in the iPad Dock. With that in mind, going naked with that high grade wrap is the only way.

People in the iPad Tumpang list(you know who you are), there's breaking news. The 3G model just released today, and along with it, comes the latest measura Apple imposed on the purchase of the iPads.

1. Credit card only. They want your name in their database. This is to avoid scalpers bulk-purchasing and slapping premiums on eBay.
2. Cash terms a total no-no at All Apple stores. Not even gift cards.
3. 2 per customer at Apple Stores, and so far only one per customer at Best Buys. CC only at Apple Stores, cash terms acceptable at Best Buys.

With these stringent terms, you'd imagine how much more difficult this is becoming. Worse come to worse, I'll have to drag some of the crews with me to do the purchases. If this is possible, then that may make this Tumpang possible, otherwise it'll be a disappointment to those low on the priority list.

Frankly, I'd understand if you want to pull out and get your refunds. You may have other avenues or options to get your iPads, I certainly diversified on my options last time when I wanted to get my WiFi iPad. If that is your wish, we can do so before I depart for the trip this 5th. Otherwise I'll assume you want me to give this a try. Again, no promises.

Same goes for accessories. But news has it that the frenzy for accessories has died down somewhat and these accessories are well stocked now based on my contacts there, so you stand a better chance now than previously. I myself am looking for accessories like stands/cases/screen protectors and the Apple-sanctioned kits like the camera connection and VGA linkup, and 3rd party accessories from Waterfield.

Please be advised. I'll be available on 3rd and 4th before I leave for TPE-LAX on the 5th.

Tish bro, I hope our arrangement in NYC goes through. *prays*

Just got my order shipped to my LA hotel from San Francisco. It's the Waterfield Personal Muzetto, iPad Ultimate Sleevecase, and iPad Slip Case. Got a personal email from Gary of Waterfield/Sfbag.com himself, very nice gesture. Shipping was only USD10 to my LA hotel and order shipped less than 5 hours after placing the order online. Superb service!

Heads-up Beavis bro!

My bro confirms that you can pick up the micro-sim now if you're using it for your iPhone. The deal us only for current iPhone users and it is basically data only, it is capped by your iPhone data cap. Which means you are getting one simcard for iPhone and another micro-sim for RM25 to be used with the 3G iPad using the same iPhone line. Two sims running on one singular number.

Bear in mind that the micro-sim can only access data. No radio telephony or voice/call capabilities.

*
Sure can. As a double confirmation, can you contact their CS tomorrow to check this info is true? My fear is that this info is privy to their technical or BB side, while their telephony side may either not have caught wind of this yet. If their CS confirms this, then it's a boon to those with Maxis line. I may think about getting a line just for data myself. tongue.gif

brilliant, Maxis did a sensible thing for iPhone owners. I'm so tempted to "upgrade" to the 3G version...

Exactly. I tip my hat to them this time for this. All this while Im on Celcom, I don't see much advantage they have over Celcom.

Yup. Just inform me when the funds are in. Again, no promises on the stock though. Would you like to fall back to either the smaller-sized 3G iPads or the Wifi-only iPads if the stock for your chosen model not available? Or totally don't get one at all?

Hi, just got my iPad yesterday. The seller helped me installed some apps. The apps were working fine, but once I connected the iPad to iTunes, the apps stopped working. When starting the apps, they would maximize and instantly minimize right away.I tried restarting the iPad but nothing changed. Can anyone help me?
*
Apps are not ownership transferable, they have to be authorized inside iTunes. The moment you sync with a new computer, you lose authorization with the previous ownership of that app.

Please be advised that if you continue to pursue this further, I've no hesitancy of reporting to the mod under the provision of this issue delving into the realm of piracy.

haha thx for the help, but its not pirated. those apps are free anyway

QUOTE(frozzbyte @ May 3 2010, 02:47 PM)
If it's free, then you need to redownload them using your own itunes account, as each app are 'tagged' to your account.
*
What he says. Free apps, tagged as "free" in the iTunes AppStore, is still linked to your own iTunes account. Passing ownership of the iPAd from your seller does not pass the apps as well. The apps are tied to his accounts.

Bear in mind, "free" here constitutes apps that does not require payment in AppStore and downloaded from AppStore as well, not from other methods. Apps that are tagged as paid in iTunes, but appeared in your iPad as "complimetary" from your seller, does not = free.

The folks at ElementCase and Waterfield really went above and beyond for my orders. Checking email today, my Joule has shipped, which is very surprising, considering their 21 days shipping estimate. My Waterfield orders consisting of the Personal Muzetto, Ultimate Sleevecase and Slip Case has already arrived safe and sound at the hotel waiting for me to pick it up.

Communications too are maintained throughout the process, with Gary of Waterfield and Jeff Sasaki of ElementCase personally emailing me about the order status.Yup, the CEO of ElementCase and that guy who did those Youtube videos on all the product demos of Waterfield personally emailed me on those products I've purchased from them. Adds to that personalized touch. I'll wait and see how the items turns out, but if it is as good as the customer service, I've no qualms making more purchases through them. I'm already looking at the Keyboard Case for the wireless keyboard I'll be carrying in my Muzetto with the iPad. rclxms.gif

EDIT: Yup, just called The Westin front-desk and they have my packages in hand, and will hold them for me until I arrive. Can't wait! rclxm9.gif
