lol that kid bendtner always have high confidence in himself. i like that, but it's time to do the talking on the pitch, son.

it's pretty saddening that TV's out. if diaby's playing i'm sure he'll be pretty agitated heading balls near our goal haha... time to show em how much you improved since the last time. and cesc, time to show the others how to do it in big games.

pretty apprehensive about the fact that campbell's gonna play against rooney... but srsly anyone other than silvestre's fine.

haha.. that's the Arsenal spirit ! Never give up and at the same time, full of sense of humor ! laugh.gif

No doubt our team has everything to win the game (or the league) but confidence, especially on strikers. Our strikers are just not trying hard enough to generate more SOT (Shot On Target). I know that our midfielders are doing the job too due to the 4-3-3 formation but I believe more SOT from the strikers will build up their confidence to generate goals.

On Campbell vs Rooney, man, I really dunno... Campbell is a great defender but the question mark is his aging body. I rate him high on the last match against Villa but in some occasions, he was clearly outpaced! Understandable, it was due to his age (and his playing style?) and I just hope that Gallas can support Campbell on this. Rooney form is just too high and it needs something special to stop him. I am not convinced that a new partnership like Gallas-Campbell is capable to do so but I will be always behind them, and behind the whole team.

No comment on Diaby. BTW, will he be available? Anyone can update the injury list?

QUOTE(maximus85 @ Jan 28 2010, 05:34 PM)
ohh... forgot to comment bout Campbell's performance...

i feel that he doesn't have the edge to be Arsenal's CB anymore... he's slow... not only in run, but also in decision making and hacking the ball away from opponents... doh.gif

i dun recall much significant actions from him after Vermy's subbed out... only saw Gallas did most of the defending....

i can't imagine the outcome this Sunday against an on-form Man U... they are so menacing right now... i hope they lost yesterday really... but they get through the tough game and now their spirit is flying high in cloud nine... and us? grumble.gif
*
Hacking away the ball is good. Clean sheet is the bread and butter for a defender. First is always clearing the line, passing the ball out and forward to another teammate is something extra but not a must. We've seen over the years how over-indulgence of playing the ball in defensive areas have cost us.

bendtner already fire up...this is good...but he really must prove his worth and take this chance well...

what he must improve are:
1) be more aggressive & utilize his physical advantage to make opposition defender uneasy...
2) improve his positioning...be at the right place at the right time (this is important.. ruud van nistelrooy proved striker in EPL not necessarily must be strong or pacey but just enough to be goal poacher)
3) improve finishing & shooting technique

so, if he can improve in those three area, i think he's a complete striker already.... hehe..

go bendtner !!  rclxms.gif
*
I think he's positioning is already good enough, if not how can we critisize him for missing lots of chances. I think it was Blackburn last season (the one where Arshavin opened his accounts), Bendtner had like 5 or 6 good chances. It shows he has the nose for finding and being in the right position, just that now needs his accuracy to be clinical. thumbup.gif

TV will be a massive lost for us, especially when we're playing Man Utd. His aerial abilities will be missed for sure. But at the same time, Rio is out for 4 matches too, so we're equal. Good news is, TV hasnt suffered a broken bone, so its prolly a short term injury. Hopefully he goes for some horse placenta massage. It might cure the problem. I'm abit worried of Sol's lack of pace, especially dealing with Rooney and if anything, Stoke's game proved that Sol's a lil rusty. And to throw him in such an important game, i'm a lil worried. But when i look at our bench, Silvestre is next up the line, then suddently i feel glad Sol was signed. Its amazing isn't it. We made the decision to sign Sol as a back up. So coincidentally, TV's injured after Sol was signed.

As for Eduardo's injury, i rather he not play so he wont be missed that badly. He isn't the strongest striker and i figured out he'd be bullied had he played. Bendtner would be a better player to play up front. But i have a hunch Wenger would play a 5 man midfield. Which means Arshavin would be the lone striker. Hopefully Nasri would be back. Still not forgotten the double strike he got us last season.

if rio is out, brown and vidic will be the central defenders.come to think about it,bendtner will be good choice of striker since brown are poor in the air.hmm.gif

Why predict our team lost? I am pretty sure that we will come out with a positive result. Worse case Draw. No doubt that the injuries had weaken the team and made the playing style and formation more obvious so that they can mark.
Don't forget where are we playing. Our own homeground not OT. I think the team have more than enough support and fitness to win over Man Utd. Don't forget we are underdog and Man Utd is having a tough schedule too

IMO it could be quite dangerous for us if we(the team) juz keep most the attention on Rooney.

Their unsung heroes like Scholes, Fletcher, Giggs have some quite decent play dis past
few games. I think the most suitable tactics for us to contain the in-form Devils
was to control their MF and leave rooney isolated alone up front. Well dat was one heck
of the task bu i BELIEVE dis team are more capable to do it smile.gif
