Sony: 1080p Still in the Air

After the surprise upset last week that the high-end PS3 model will not be shipping with HDMI cables, SCEE spokesperson Jonathan Fargher clarified with Kikizo that Sony has modified the ICT to allow 1080p signals to bypass the HDMI requirements. This way you can view Blu-ray movies or PS3 games that permit a 1080p output.

The problem is there is only one game running at 1080p at the moment, which is Gran Turismo HD. And unless you're using the PS3 as a Blu-ray movie platform, according to Fargher, there won't be much 1080p content for awhile.

The reason for this is, an anonymous development source told Kikizo, "even with [final hardware] in mind, reaching good frame rates at 1080p with next-gen graphics is almost impossible."

Well shops in Malaysia have been known to inflate prices. One of the shops in Sg Wang charged RM 3000 for a PSP last year. He sold it within 2 days. I shook my head, but of course the shop owner was very happy.

^^ Well only the hardcore fast adopted with THAT ALOT of money will snap it up quick. I'd rather wait for a while, not that in a hurry to get a brand new console that soon.

Geeezzeee... I'm having dilemma whether to get a Wii or Xbox360. I wanted to get a new console by end of the year. However, I do wanna get a taste of Wii (concept of the remote and games are superb). Espeacially "Zelda" rule!

On the other hand, Xbox360 game line up is more of my kind of games. Sign... sakit kepala... if only I have a big enough 'water paip' to get both console

Well the 360 is already a mature platform with several good games, so you could get that first and wait to see if the Wii truly delivers what it promises. If it does, then get one later.
