Heard from SIS source that Desire coming out soon but price wise still not confirmed...expect HD2 pricing or thereabouts.
*
I was hoping between the price point of Legend and HD2 (yes, its a big gap). HD2's retail price is RM2699 now? So RM2499/2599 is right on track right? Damn these toys are expensive. tongue.gif

So much for HTC going on to say that the price for Desire would be something buyers happy about.

I want to ask, let say if I ask my friend from UK buy this phone for me, can it be use in Malaysia?

Will he be checked by custom when he arrive in/depart from airport?

However, if I buy in UK, the VAT is applicable right?

If he is traveling or coming back by air, I don't see a problem. He'll be able to walk through the custom clearance section like any other traveler. Its not like they would run a check on everyone. If they picked him and found the package, just say its yours and you're bringing it back. Make sure receipt is available to proof that the item belongs to him.

As a tourist leaving the last airport in the UK, you should be entitled to a VAT refund (subjected to their limitations). You need to proof that you're a tourist, with a certain amount of VAT accumulated, etc... If your friend is a PR, on student visa, or on job permit, I think VAT restrictions apply.

RM2299 looks reasonable. This is because if we take the price from clove.co.uk + shipping will total RM1760 (exchange rate 4.95 from BNM website). Then add 30% import tax equals RM2278.

My guess only...

Agreed but I still don't get why we still need to impose the tax (besides the obvious $$$ to the Govt)....isn't the Govt. pushing for adoption of tech?
