guys...will desire support video calls? i can't see any front camera on this beauty...
*
No there will not be any video calls support. That is because it is not the prerequisite feature in Android platform.

Actually the Desire is the ultimate phone for me if not for that chin and ugly buttons. The speaker grill is also a little awkward. They did so well for Nexus One, its hard to imagine why they can't repeat the same success for the Desire.

aiseh...i really wanted desire to have 2ndary camera....which htc android got vidcall capability eh?

As far as I know, none. Most of the latest platform (eg Android, iPhone, WebOS) do not have front facing camera. Not sure why.

Yup, right about that. Or maybe a few hundred less. Still, a phone worth the price tag.
*
I think it should be cheaper. Its not like a WM phone where the OS costs money. I understand Sense UI requires development work but still the OS should technically be free. So it should be slightly cheaper.

Legend is using 600Mhz while Desire using Snapdragon 1Ghz
Since its Android, should be cheaper.. Way cheaper than HTC HD2 if it comes out!
*
In my opinion, the Legend is supposed to replace the Hero while introducing Desire to be the new high end Android device. HTC currently runs two family of products: WM and Android. It will have a high end model on each family line. On the WM side, we have HD2 so it is obvious that Desire will be high end on the Android family line. If we already have a mid-model SKU like the Hero and Legend is already replacing it and the debut price was around RM2.2k above (retail), I guess Desire would hit the RM2.6k above mark (retail).

By the way, HD2 and Desire most likely shares the same hardware platform (same processor, same amount of memory). Only the software side is different. And that different is cost lies in the software development (both have Sense UI) and OS license which technically is free.

I wonder what will happen to this product line if Apple win their patent sue against HTC.
*
That lawsuit is gonna take months before a ruling is in place. We're expecting HTC to counter sue and that alone is gonna take weeks. No trial dates has been set yet. So I'm not worried.

I dont think that site is for Malaysian release. It just shows your current location on the home screen. If you click 'pre-register', it lists telcos from UK.
*
Yeah, may not be a worldwide release. I have a feeling it will be sometime in the middle of April. Even then availability will be low.

I hope we can get the silver version!
According to the site, its "exclusive" to certain retailers
*
Yeah it seems to be exclusive to a particular telco while other retailers are claiming exclusivity too. But I want the gun metal color hehehe...

guys....lets say i buy desire from uk, the warranty is international rite? means that when i come back to malaysia i still can bring to HTC to repair it if anything goes wrong rite??n can it be use it malaysia if i buy it from uk?? can i get into the android market in malaysia coz so far i heard that malaysia android application market is still not open to public yet...rite? is there any other way for me to dl the application from the android market??
*
In Malaysia, HTC is represented by SiS for distribution and warranty services. SiS would get HTC to support them and only endorse locally distributed sets. Unless you can provide proof of travel documentation that you're not local.

is it possible for nexus one to be released in msia??? mostly ppl get nexus one from US....
*
Nope. Never will. Why? Because its HTC's turf and Desire will take care of it. Both phones are so similar to the core, it'll not make sense.

By the way... nice signature bar rip off wink.gif Take it off when it is convenient hehehe...

Heard SiS stock coming in this end of April and pricing is around 2k..
Nexus on the other hand, would be released here officially around July,if i heard correctly..
PDA Expert already have Nexus, priced at 2.6k at their stores..

About Ori Vs AP theory again, been using HTC ori since quite some time.
What I can tell you is, so far, No problem with my ori set even after 2 years..
So, I'll let you people judge XD
Its just extra about 200-300 only..
As someone said here, better get the peace of mind and assurance..

XD
Gonna write 2 HTC later, asking for review sets..
Crossing my fingers then XD

If the Nexus One is coming, it will be under Google's roof. Then again, do we know anything about possible telco associations and contracts? Celcom? They did it for HTC Magic but wasn't received well. Cause Google's N1 directions are both outright sale and telco choices.

Ipad around this month too,i heard..
Retails around..
3k plus dude~
XD

Fuiyo... 3K wow... shocking.gif

Most of the Machines shop mentioned it is June onwards. But I know a reliable source mentioned some time 2x April 2010 in Singapore and followed by Malaysia.

QUOTE(irenic @ Apr 7 2010, 02:50 PM)
desire definitely runs on snapdragon..

desire is cheaper becoz it lacks few hardware i guess.. like the 2nd mic for noise cancellation, also the material is more to plastic and rubberized plastic.. i read somewhere that nexus is more solid and desire does produce click sounds esp at the back cover..

google does almost everything that desire has, except Sense ui, physical button, trackpad and extra ram..

physical button, trackpad, and extra ram is not that costly..
*
Actually Sense UI is the winner here. Doesn't matter whether it lacks the 2 function. I don't think they are show-stoppers. Sense UI really complements the Android platform. So this is a good thing for us. Cheaper and more important functions/features.

well, i dont want winmo 7..i want android phone with snapdragon n full qwerty..i heard there is a rumour samsung galaxy s pro;has android, snapdragon processor and full qwerty..dont know it is true or not..if true also, dont know when will reach malaysia..
*
Samsung Galaxies uses Samsung's own ARM Cortex A8. Actually all we know at the moment is that the application processor is 1GHz. Snapdragon is Qualcomm and I think there's a very slim chance Samsung would use another company's core.

Apple ipad is selling by irwan6179 for 16gb rm2450

Well for RM2450, I would rather wait a little longer. Of course, if iPAD never made it here or will take more than 1 year... then why not...

QUOTE(Droidz @ Apr 8 2010, 01:36 PM)
Will Samsung lock their phones like Motorola? If not you might still be able to get Sense on the phone  brows.gif
*
Even though it may not be locked, you will need a community to support the phone. Judging by Samsung's popularity, the community is almost non-existent. If you look at custom ROM communities like XDA-Developers and HTCpedia... they only support HTC devices. Droid also have custom ROM because there are many users using it in US so they can afford to have a community to drive this kind of initiative.
