True, we blew away our chances. Lampard's miss, Drogba's inches wide shot..etc

Do you guys think the equalising goal for MC was controversial? Replays show a handball before adebayor(that prick)slot the ball in.
*
no controversial la, thats not a hand ball, he was making himself small by pulling in his arms to his body. but the ball still hit his forearm/elbow , adebayor still need to do a lot of work before slotting in the ball.

all in all , chelsea didnt played well and lose, not taking anything away from man city which played superbly . even the chance to level it at 2 - 2 was dashed away by the penalty miss. sums up the bad night all together. man city deserved the win. congrats to them. the lost is a humbling experience.

its ok , we are still on top with a 2 point gap , KTBFFH

p.s: some cliche posting by fan after his team has lost is , " btw who is going to wear <insert team name> jersey today ? " has that been posted in our thread before? whistling.gif huhu

^ haha, ive seen that somewhere in *cough* thread..

but anyway, I am wearing today to work XD~ preparing to be shot at, around....2pm when my rival colleague comes lol...

we had a chance to win, we blew it... we had a chance to at least draw...blown also..

now its 2pts gaps, means next if MU win, we draw/lose, we dropped the top seat.

5 points ahead was our immunity, still hold 1st place standing... now immunity is gone. 1 more same outcome then we're down the drain...please don't...

go pang sai sin... raise the blue flag!

Gotta admit we are thoroughly beaten in every department guys. Man City definitely looked the more desperate and hungrier side to win the game. They were literally throwing themselves at every opportunity to attack. Their tactic of depriving us from ball possession worked like a charm.

We were limited to intercepting the odd stray passes from them, clearing and blocking helplessly! It's simple really, if you don't get keep the ball, you don't really stand a chance of creating chances. Everyone was below par this morning. The were certain periods of the game when I felt we were up against Barcelona of last season! No kidding!

Now with the lead at the top being trimmed to 2 points, we must do anything possible to bounce back from this setback! This season is the most exciting yet with surprises thrown in from every corner. We need to improve on our erratic away form. Superstitious or not, our away kit is pretty jinxed isn't it? Haha.

same im wearing it to work as well now.........

they pressed the ball really well , playing high up the pitch. defending from the front. how many times chelsea back 4 need to pass back to cech for a rush clearance.

ps: loser work on sunday!!!! dammnn it...

well, i guess...speedy team has a lot of advantage against possession-whores team like us hehe..

SWP is really SWeePy ..his cut-in dribbles are so troublesome even pacey A.Cole had troubles closing down on him.

SWP, Robinho, Tevez these roadrunners deserved what they worked for..our counter attack also slow. Drogba had few chances IINM, there was once or twice Drogba was almost 1on1 with Given, but also blocked.

Credits to Man City for winning the game.
This game shows that we really need the players with pace & flair.
Hopefully, Joe Cole will be fit again.

Ancelotti is a good manager but he make some mistake last night, We didn't have any winger start of the game

Should start with Malouda instead of Deco / Ballack

Yesterday Cech was abit shaky... especially the part where he come out hopelessly to punch a ball and gave city a free header. Great reflex clearance from Carvalho though.

And why did he move the other way first during Teves free kick..

i think he moved the right way but he was takin by surprise since the ball came thru the hole created by mancity players in the wall. by then, it was already too late.

this defeat is quite damaging i think.. it shows that even if we can beat all members of the top 4, our away form (in THE AWAY kit is still worrying) and 2 defeats in a week. especially games against the title pretenders. matches like this make or break our season. even if we're sitting(not too comfortably) at the top with only 2 points. seriously, guys we cannot afford to do a liverpool or arsenal two seasons ago if we want to be champs.

somehow, i think we were getting complacent and overconfident. remember a week ago or so, JT came out and reportedly saying that the Blues are feeling invincible again? i guess this is a humbling defeat. i'd prefer if our captain and co. comes out in the press and focus on what's present rather than the future, progress rather than outcome. we certainly do not want to be labeled as a cocky, arrogant club like certain fans who keeps gloating bout their titles won even before they were born and as if they were part of the history.

it's really something for CA and the boys to think about. it's not bad times but certainly the potential to be in one is very dangerous. i hope they do come back stronger..

losing is not a good thing to happen at chelsea but on the bright side, hopefully it can knock some sense into everybody not to be too complacent. i strongly feel we will come back stronger from this defeat.

half of the season already gone. we win all three match against title contender and lose 1 to title pretender. the other half of the season hopefully we win all. 2games at home (arsenal, city) and 2games away (man utd, liverpool). and for these away games, i dont think we will use the 'cursed' away jersey haha

maybe losing in the carling cup have taken away the momentum of the team..

TBH this loss is good as a wake-up call to the team, telling them that there are no easy games in the EPL, and that the same hunger and desire must be shown whether if you are playing Man Utd or Man City.

We were shambolic throughout the game, and our game was pretty much something out of the blue. Midfield was overran, while Nic and DD were firing blanks all game. I think that game has the fewest shots on target for us. When opponents are physical and committed, we should put some of the stronger players in, so for me Deco was not the best choice on top of the diamond, he was well pegged by the likes of De Jong all game long. Mikel should've been in from the start, pushing Lamps up instead.

All in all, bad game. We need to pick ourselves up for the next game v Apoel, and onwards to the next league game as well. No point crying over controversies or ref decisions and what not. Time to refocus and regroup, and get the title charge going again.

i think he moved the right way but he was takin by surprise since the ball came thru the hole created by mancity players in the wall. by then, it was already too late.

this defeat is quite damaging i think.. it shows that even if we can beat all members of the top 4, our away form (in THE AWAY kit is still worrying) and 2 defeats in a week. especially games against the title pretenders. matches like this make or break our season. even if we're sitting(not too comfortably) at the top with only 2 points. seriously, guys we cannot afford to do a liverpool or arsenal two seasons ago if we want to be champs.

somehow, i think we were getting complacent and overconfident. remember a week ago or so, JT came out and reportedly saying that the Blues are feeling invincible again? i guess this is a humbling defeat. i'd prefer if our captain and co. comes out in the press and focus on what's present rather than the future, progress rather than outcome. we certainly do not want to be labeled as a cocky, arrogant club like certain fans who keeps gloating bout their titles won even before they were born and as if they were part of the history.

it's really something for CA and the boys to think about. it's not bad times but certainly the potential to be in one is very dangerous. i hope they do come back stronger..
*
i forced myself to watch our game during the epl highlights show just now, and it must be said the freekick given against riccy was very very harsh. during the match itself i thought "what the hell were u doing riccy??!!" but upon closer inspection, tevez did appear to jump into his foot more than anything else. however, there can be no excuse for the big gap he left between himself and adebayor in the wall. u could see by his reaction that he knew he could've prevented the goal by being more aware.

a few things i'd like carlo to address :

1. cech's flapping at aerial balls
2. midfielders' lack of pressing
3. the obscene amount of back passes made by defenders to cech for him to clear, automatically gifting city back possession
4. our collective failure to show more initiative and ruthlessness in securing that all important second goal
5. his own misguided faith in keeping deco on for 90 mins. (sorry guys he should've been off at half time with the amount of times he was being brushed off the ball)

one thing we can all look forward too : Kakuta starting against apoel! carlo said he's the most likely youngster to given the nod for the first 11. the kind of news that cheers me right up! rclxm9.gif

besides the ref i think it is carlo's fault... he shouldnt play diamond in that game... he should play our old 4-3-3... play d same system as man c.. our wingers are more superior... everybody knows we play diamond, no harm changing once in a while...

ballack and deco tak boleh pakai d leh... why didnt malouda get to start, he plays so well... mikel although not very good, but i think still better than that 2... ship them off, save some $$$ n buy some players while we can

read BEHIND THE MIC at our official site. It is said that we lack pace and that is true. we might have the experience in the squad to provide those killer passes to drogs and nico but when we're pressed with no space to play the ball, we're next to nothing. Its games like these when Carlo needs to find out the problems quick and make good substitutions. deco and bally does not have the pace which was needed to break the city defense. joey and malouda should have started to inject some speed into the team. how many times did ashley bombard down the left? Ivan is doing defense most of the time. we lack attacking power in the city game. other teams are going to use the same tactics against us knowing that it works, packing the midfield like how united and city did but we were fortunate against united. deco and bally might work against the weaker midfield teams but not against a midfield full of superstars. we must regain our lead by a bigger margin.

CA defends club duo after defeat to MC, Kakuta to get his first start
QUOTE
Carlo Ancelotti defended Petr Cech and Frank Lampard ahead of  their final Champions League group game against Apoel Nicosia.

Cech was blamed for allowing Carlos Tevez to score Manchester City's winner from a 25-yard free-kick in the Premier League on Saturday.

Lampard was then guilty of his first penalty miss since September 2006 when Shay Given saved his 83rd-minute attempt.

That followed spot-kick blunders by Michael Ballack and Gael Kakuta in a penalty shoot-out defeat by Blackburn in the Carling Cup quarter-final last Wednesday.

But both Lampard and Cech are likely to figure in Tuesday's Group D encounter at Stamford Bridge, and Ancelotti declared he has no concerns about either player's form.

Chelsea have already won the group and so there is a temptation for Ancelotti to rest some players against the Cypriots.

Captain John Terry, carrying a knee injury from the City defeat, is likely to miss out even though the problem is responding well to treatment.

Ancelotti also has doubts over Ballack and Ashley Cole. Cole is still suffering from an ankle problem while the Germany captain has a knee complaint.

Kakuta is almost certain to make his first start for the club while Ancelotti will also call upon youngsters Daniel Philliskirk and Nikki Ahamed.

'I think that John Terry will be able to play tomorrow but I have to control the next training session,' added the Italian.

'I want to put the best team out. But the most important thing is to monitor the players, to check whether they're able to play tomorrow.

come on, we think we need each other's support bcos we're considered the smallest fan base among the top 4 clubs. i don't think it's the right time to be pointing fingers at each other and be calling names. let's focus on the good rather than the bad now..

i second that. its not unusual for our thread to go quiet once in awhile, simply because of our much smaller fan base here in malaysia. its growing though. i like the point u made about us becoming complacent and a tad overconfident. those 'invincible' remarks and whatnot were premature to say the least. players can't afford to go for a stroll in the park anymore once we take the lead. villa and city have shown a single goal lead can actually cause us to drop down a gear and that's worrying.

I agree..Lampard usually places his penalty shot into the left or right bottom corner so easy to guess. But then, most of the time Lampard's shot is usually very powerful and accurate and will still go in even if you block it.

wow i just read from soccernet that ancelotti seems like blaming cech for the goal scored by tevez. he said cech should have done better with his positioning. i'm not sure about this because havent seen any replay yet. you guys detect any mis-positioning by cech during the freekick?

hopefully this will not affect cech's morale. it is not good for a player to be single-out for blame publicly. this already happen once during scolari era when he dissapointed with drogba effort and make it public..

Mourinho never publicly criticized his own players.
Maybe Ancelotti did that because he wanted Cech to realize that nobody is superstar in his team.

personally, i really doesn't like managers to publicly criticize their own player. the morale of the player will be greatly affected by it. this is because everybody will know about the player's form. however, each player will react differently in different situations. hopefully cech is one of the player who react to criticism with greater performance. 'let action on the pitch do the talking'. recently, this is exactly what ashley cole do during the arsenal game. the fans boo him all the way and as a reward, he assisted in two of the goals hehe

*alaskanbunny: i don't think ashley cole job is to cover the side of the post during free kicks. he only do that during corner kicks. when there is a wall, the purpose of the wall is to cover one side of the goal mouth. and the job of the 'keeper is to guard the other side of the wall. in the case of tevez's free kick, cech is a little bit out of position. he is stacking in the area covered by the wall and left the area he really should be covering wide open.

btw regarding APOEL match, i really hope the team can win with big margin. this is to ensure the morale is restored. keep the faith and KTBFFH!!

Stop playing the blame game anymore, Lampard is human too. So what if he misses once in a blue moon? There's no such thing as a perfect penalty taker.

yeap. even the myth about Germans not missing penalties was proven false when Ballack missed the first penalty in the Carling cup. but these should not happen again if we want to win the league. we need consistency and the belief that we can win anyone!

looks like we're still not back to our winning ways from a last minute mistake from mikel. but i think it was a good run for kakuta and borini. they showed that they can play with the seniors. we MUST WIN the next game be it one nil or 5 nil. we need a win to regain momentum!

looks like Carlo Ancelotti is pissed off with the players for losing concentration in the second half. i think the positives from the game would be that joey and malouda deserves to start the next game and kakuta is making is way up the ranks. yuri was quite quick on the attack too but i think he can do better, needs some better timed tackles.

didn't watch the match, so can't give a thorough analysis. based on what i've read though yuri and kakuta both had very good games. carlo was quite upset with our display even though it was meaningless on the night, which shows he wants us to start racking up those 3 points again. however of all the players he singled out kakuta for praise, and that speaks volumes of our manager's faith in him. another contender for the tip of the diamond. joey and deco had better watch out.

i also didnt watch the match but from reports, it seems mikel lost his concentration again. i'm not sure what mikel trying to prove now. he already given the chances but he didnt performed well. late tackles.. lost possesion although he has great strength.. poor in passing..

i really hope he can improve his performance more. imo, he is in the same mold as ballack. i like ballack but i wish soon he can be replace by mikel. he has so much potential. what a waste if cannot use it all in every game

i watched the game. mikel was solid over all. uses his huge body and strength to shield and hold. only one last minute mistake of his cost us the game. im not defending him, any player in Chelsea should know that they should not make any mistake as we're gunning to win all competitions. so unfortunately, his mistake cost us 3 points. he was indeed very disappointed with himself after we conceded the equalizer. if they dont buck up, its not gonna be a tougher race than it already is.

Top of the group definitely, but the other 2nd place teams are no cannon fodder. The likes of AC Milan, Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow and maybe Lyon/Fiorentina, Barca/Inter, Sevilla/Stuttgart and Olympiakos await us in the Round of 16.

wow..its like 50% chance we will face europe top gun in the round of 16. hopefully can get the smaller team but i really doubt it. if you all remember during JM era,we always 'accidentally' pitted with barca.i think it will be no different this time.

personally, i think they somehow already 'pre-determined' on which team we will face next. i dont know how to explain this. maybe it is just my gut feeling hehe btw, i think we will be pitted against barca or inter. my reason, UCL governing body always looking for some drama in the competition. competing us against our former boss surely can heat up something. and a replay of last season UCL semi-final with barca also will rock the world haha

lets pray my prediction is not true and we will face 'easier' team. no man utd, no barca, no inter, no ac..let them finish of each other hehe

to be fair to mikel, he admitted his mistake and i'd like to point out he had a great game when called upon vs city. gave the midfield more steel and shape, as well as proving he can make more than a couple of accurate attacking passes! i was quite surprised myself. tongue.gif

i think d diaomond formation is not working... i believe with JC back n malouda fit, we should go to 4-3-3

i don't think there's a chance of that happening. carlo has mostly stuck to the diamond since pre-season and the lads are building their familiarity with the system. no point changing it halfway and forcing the lads to 'relearn' their roles and positions. do note that we've scored in every game this season. not an easy feat and i believe we're the only team top 4 that's done it. we just need to regain that tenacity in our defense and finishing.

hoho that's something new. certainly read the story with interest this morning. goal.com insists we've got his signature in a pre-contract though. cites various dutch media as 'proof.' its still goal.com though. however if it materialises, it'll only prove one thing. kenyon and gourlay have been tracking my posts on lyn. lol laugh.gif

Looks like Essien has a tear in his hamstring and will be our for 3-4 weeks sad.gif

I for one would like to see Flomo and Joey in the starting line up against Everton.

and we can now choose from;

Bayern - Grp A
CSKA - Grp B
Milan - Grp C
Lyon - Grp E
Inter - Grp F
Stuttgart - Grp G
Olympiakos - Grp H

I think every group winner wants to get the Grp H runners-up!

ageed with Kerplunk on the need to stay the way the team is playing now. our team is bless with superb wingback so, why not use them to their highest potential? by playing in diamond formation, they will be used to the fullest. for me, i strongly feel our diamond formation really depend on the player at the top of the diamond aka the attacking player. i'm not saying that the anchor man (essien) is not important but in epl, we have one of the, meanest defense. at start of season, we rely on deco. but now, his performance has dropped. maybe the team should use joe cole more. deco can go on rotation with ballack. it is a waste for not using joe cole ability and speed.

as for ucl, i think we will meet with milan. carlo will meet his former players or worse, we will meet inter. btw, still 50-50 to meet the top guns..

i also hope kakuta start in the game against everton this weekend. for me, its good for him to gain match experience, be it when the team is winning as well as during the hard time. players need to adept to different kind of situation and must not be content with the current condition. if he only feel it while he is at bench, the effect wont be hat good..

as with joe cole, i think he is trying / asking the media to divert their attention to other matters instead of pursuing stories about kakuta. young players which is exposed too much to the limelight can halt their progress. maybe because they will feel like superstar already and thus affecting their growth.

sad stories with essien. hope mikel will play well during his absence. wonder why ghana still requires him to join the team during AFC even though he is injured.. for me, better keep him under chelsea medical team care. if lucky, can have him back even before february hehe

Added on December 11, 2009, 8:10 pmjust an addition on 4-3-3 formation..this is just my opinion though. i strongly feel there is no need to revert back to 4-3-3. 1st of all, the only wingers we have is malouda, joe cole, zhirkov, kakuta and some youngsters. let be honest, joe cole and zhirkov is prone to injuries and that left malouda and kakuta. malouda is not a consistent performer while kakuta is learning. although with luck, hey can performed very well in certain match..but that is a gamble, especially we nearly arrive at half of the season.

we are no more in JM era where at that time we have abundant of wingers. robben, duff, cole, kezman (he is forward i think but still can play out wide). furthermore if we play 4-3-3 definitely anelka will play at one of the wing and he doesn't like it. our department is perfect. drogba and anelka complement each other and with them, we have they perfect combination of forward. disrupting the flow and chemistry of this formation sure will cost us dearly.

diamond formation sometime doesnt work because of the player that had been chosen is not suitable with the opponent. as example, using deco instead of joe cole during match with man city is proven to be unsuccessful where deco is easily out-muscled by city defender and midfield. and during that match also, we certainly lack speed. so, ancelloti and the rest of the team should analyze the opponent first before deciding who to play.

hm..so long i membebel haha cheers guys ^^V

can lar... malouda is playing well... if not also play diamond but kick ballack n deco off... heck, i even prefer mikel... we can out muscle small teams when we play diamond... but teams with wingers, we hardly can stop them... our wings are superior... on d left side, ashley cole hardly can paly with no wing support... on d right, poor ivanovic def like crap... in d diamond middle, cant pass at all cause our passing is not so good... only play long ball + high ball...

i think our diamond formation is strong. still it has its flaws. it might work against some teams who dont pack their midfield. those who pack their midfield with 5 players will cause us trouble attacking. most of the teams that pack their midfield has won against us and more teams are using the same formation against us. we need to adapt to a game quick and not stubbornly stick to that formation until the whistle blows. if there is no rewards in the middle. quickly convert to playing wide. the more options we have, the more trouble it will cause the opposition's defense.

yes. i do think its about time for bally and deco to warm the bench unless they pick themselves up from the slump in performance that they are in. there is no such thing as giving them more time because time is what we dont have.

Agree about Malouda. He is actually one of our most consistent performer this season. Too bad his left midfield position is occupied by Lampard at the moment. Maybe we could try him behind the strikers as J.Cole & Deco is not doing well there.

However, I disagree Ivanovic defends like crap. He is giving Bosingwa a run for his money at the rightback position. Very solid.

just to add something. we conceded 10 goals in 4 matches and that is 2.5 goals average per game. what a frightening figure..

drogba, anelka, mikel, iva, carvalho are superb
lampard, ashley are normal.
others..dunno what to comment. joe cole seems to favor a hard target although there are other easy options..

plus..lady luck didnt smile upon us today..and our defender maybe gained some weight before the match that make them so lazy to jump (count how many fellaini got free headers)..

I'm losing hope in Chelsea star players... vmad.gif ancelotti must give youngsters a full 90 mins; and drop seniors who does not perform well....cuz for the past 4 games Chelsea played...none of them got a victory plus the performance are below par why not give the chances to young players to boo those seniors? brows.gif

todays defending its totally very poor...no point blaming cech on 2 goals they concede! if this trend continues....manu will gain their 4th straight title then.....why so difficult to play a proper controlled possession football??? vmad.gif players who are getting paid BIG BUCKS but playin like shit its getting sick of me.... when are blues going to play well, defend well....average performances doesn't guarantee instant success...

finally i'm not trying to be rude here; but just want my chelsea to play well & get trophy's are what my concern is. hmm.gif

now i'm really dont favor any results for manu v villa game cuz, we must look ourselves 1st..if we played well week in week out...no need to care about other matches results.

i like your last sentence krk24. take a look at ourselves, how are we gonna be champs if we're gonna hope for other teams to drop points, we have to gain our own.

thats right. i dont think its entirely cech's fault. he hardly had a good shot to save. the goals conceded we the defender's inability to win the ball in the box. when he comes out for the ball, the ball bounces off and went in, when he doesnt come out, saha gets a good header in. nonsense defending.

we scored 3 great goals and conceded 3 ridiculous goals.

i am wondering why in the world bally shot with his weaker foot when he had time and space to take the shot.

to be fair, its not even mid-season yet... cech has not been on his best, he is down on confidence when it comes to set pieces. im not saying its entirely his fault, he just terribly unlucky. we did a good job up front, nuff said. keep yer heads up fellow blues!

No such things as jinx/superstitious. That's just a lame excuse.
We lose because we played badly.
We draw this time because we didn't defend well enough.

chelsea+mcity drew..
manu lose..
lets see how arsenal vs liv tomorrow..

abt the superstitious@jinx@whatever u call it,
please get over it..
we did play badly on recent game..

on mancity, well we can see how fast pacegame+counterattack+3 striker beat down our physical+shortpass gameplay..

on blackburn, ancelloti admit he underestimate blackburn..

vs apoel, i can say we play not up to par..
got some concentration problem i think..

and vs everton, i would say its sloppy performance by some players..

but hey, as a team, just take it on a positive side.. at least we are still on top of the table, learn from previous mistake and keep the winning consistency.. sorry too say but i see ,chelsea always on the winning side only in early season, but as time pass by, we lose our spot.. take last season as an example..

we the supporter, can just pray for chelsea to bounce back.. Come on Chels!

Nah, our problem is our center defender, not winger. u scored 3 goals and still draw means u have alot of defensing work to workup with.

Rickky are not good at air, dump him. Him + terry partnership only good when against Arsenal because Arsenal hardly has a player than can win an aerial challenge.

Should play Iva + terry in middle, but Iva are damn good at right back with the attacking moves.

they score all from set pieces... we atk until dun let them come our side lor... recently we have been defending very deep, and not using our wings... the way we play now is like during mourinho's era when all our wingers are injured and we were just grinding out results... why still got ballack.. zzz

another draw!! this time with everton. Chelsea gonna work better on their sloppy defense.

Conceded 10 goals in last 4 matches. What is going wrong here?

Everton first goal, hit the post and bounced on Cech's body. +_+
Second, the ball just like pinball in the box and fall to Yakubu. =_=
Third, didn't watch....... Will wait for the highlight... heard that was a reflection.

Attack to get points, But, Defense to secure points.

Defense must do better, if not, it's a waste for such a good hard work from attacking.

overall i think our attacking as a whole was awesome, but terrible defending.

we shouldnt have lost last night as we played really well but the third goal just did not come before everton equalized. it would have been a whole different story. now that we posses a 3 point lead, i hope the boys will feel grateful and get back to winning ways.

UP THE CHELS!

defends need to buck up a bit, i guess they are training hard on offensive nowadays on the training ground. seems like they forgot to train on defends. biggrin.gif kena 3 goals all from freekicks..... unheard of from a team who is challenging for the BPL title. the 3rd one from everton , chelsea defending too deep. cech should easily catch that ball routinely. he was screaming after that goal , before the goal he was shooing ppl to go further up to defend. at 2-1 up i though thats it close shop , at 3-2 up same . oh well. KTBFFH !!

of all the whinings ive read... esca, urs made my day ^^.

cmon guys, dont be too down... lucky esca came with a good chiller.

so just a lil insight when i watched the match at millenium square with my gf only. (and shes not really into football, u can tell when she "eh why tevez play with different color shirt?" doh.gif

i had to go back to the car, while the match started to take something, then about 100 yards away, i heard farken huge screaming... then i got a text from my gf who was there at that time, "b, ur team kena whack 1 biji" n all i replied "ofc, the screamer i heard never sounds like chelsea" (u know how small our fanbase lol)

everytime chelsea scored, all like dowan see dowan see hahaha... but when everton scored, i think they scream till glass can pecah like that XD

then at 130, i watched manutd game there also... they were like so depressed! so senyap, n keep cursing when players missed the shots haha...

my point is i feel so satisfied >.<

The partnership between Terry & Carvalho look so shaky last night.
Cech looks uncomfortable with aerial challenges.
Alex, please recover quickly.
Again, Ivanovic, Anelka & Drogba play outstanding game.
Ancelotti need to sort out the set piece problem. Otherwise, other team will look it as our weakness.

For me, sometimes chelsea need to change their formation. yes, 4-4-2 diamond suits to chelsea but sometimes when you got team which came to parked their bus in front of goals, this formation didnt work. It happen last nite. Every games, using the same formation and other manager already knew how to play against chelsea.

Against City, Midfield not working because chelsea cant cope with pace.
Against Everton, Defends collapsed. Too many mistakes.

Without Drogba, Essien, Kalou, for African Cup of Nation, this is the best time to reshuffle new tactic. Zhirkov or Malouda are needed for left winger and Joe Cole can play right.

For me yesterday was really unlucky. We score 3 superb goal. First goal condeded i was blaming CECH positioning coz he was standing too much on his right and left a big gap on his left. He should be more centered he would have save the ball. And it was not a clear header and the ball bounce a few times before hit those post then CECH head before go in so i dont blame the defender here.

2nd and 3rd goal conceded are pin ball deflection so it was really unlucky. Overall we do not play badly, if u play badly u dont score 3 goals. But our defender need to defend higher to allow CECH to come out punch/catch the cross, he used to be very good at doing that. More work need to be done on set pieces but overall i am satisfied with CHELSEA performance yesterday, surely nothing CRISIS here.

I am more worried about the coming ANC, losing DROGBA and ESSIEN and from their performance for all the past matches, is gonna be a big lost, see how we cope with it. Even bringing top player on january will not have big impact coz they still need time to gel with the team.

feel disappointed with the draw last night. luckily man u fail to take their chance to close the gap.
after we lead 2-1 and attacking like no one business, i thought its going to goal fest...
just to see 2-2 draw at half time.
and then we lead again, with beautiful goal from drog!!!
but its only last few minutes.. sad.gif
so about the 1st and 3rd goal we concede, is it cech mistake or our defend positioning?

Definitely defensive mistakes, Terry and Carvalho needs to buck up understanding and communication. IMO, Terry and Cech should control the defense, and convey proper instructions and communication to the rest of the team to defend properly.

Luckily, our rivals also slipped up, giving us the chance to atone quickly v Pompey.

However, on the plus side, excellent attack currently, both of our strikers are on fire!

chelsea still can adopt 442 diamond formation but make sure on both side put wingers rather then central midfieldrs who are slow pace....put malouda on left & right put j.cole....in early seaon of BPL ancelotti placed th plyrs well positioned but, recently he kpt malouda in the benched always..for wht??? ancelotti should change players for his diamond...otherwise chelsea will keep dropping pts.

its a mixture of cech and defenders . the uncertainty of cech is caught on by the defenders as well. 3rd goal from what i see is defenders defending too deep, practically on top of cech. drogba head the ball on to saha , that ball is not headed by drogba , it should be simple catch by cech. they need to buck up on their defending of freekicks. most of the goals scored against chelsea is from freekicks.

2nd goal was JT should hv booted the ball out of the park , not take a touch in the box. he took a touch instead of booting it out. thats the mistake there. yes it pin balled. but when u see the replay JT should hv booted that ball without any problem.

1st goal , cech dive too early. fortunate bounce of the ball. defenders didnt deal with the ball as they should have.

thats my take on the goals let in by chelsea that night.

for me he doesn't deserve to be treated like this smile.gif . i really want him to get back to form and i'm not sure about dropping him, but saying he's had a good season is just ignoring his many mistakes. i cant imagine us not having Cech as our number 1.

absolutely, man. most of our conceded goals are from set pieces, the ironic is we have quite a number of big and tall player at the back. i wonder why eh? the point is we have to start winning now, lets start on this wednesday. because on december and january are crucial for us, we have to maintain our attacking form.

Portsmouth (H) (Wednesday)
West Ham (A)
Birmingham (A)
Fulham (H)
Hull City (A)
Sunderland (H)
Birmingham (H)
Burnley (A)

the fixtures may look like "our dream fixtures", but i sense a tricky one from our london rivals. hmm.gif

well i guess its obvious everyone knows our problems lie in defence. some truly fantastic goals scored vs everton, but an embarassing inability to defend setpieces. probably carlo has got them working overtime on that now. bringing alex back in could help too. what i don't get is why everyone defended so deep against everton, leaving cech with too little space to operate. oh well..good thing agbonlahor did us a favour. meanwhile, malaysia's entry into the final of the SEA games cheered me up considerably. biggrin.gif

for those guys out there who thinks... 4-4-2 not good ... c'mon .. it has brought us to the top of the table...
its balanced.. excellent.. although lamps doesnt score as much ..

4-3-3.. doesnt bring the best out of our supporting striker.. Anelka..
4-3-3.. dogster.. need to work farking hard... as a long striker..

i'll go with 4-4-2... but sometimes bring malouda in ..

that day vs everton.. PURE UNLUCKY ... and LUCKY EVERTON MUST BE SMILING AWAY .. i was so frust that night .. it was 3 unlucky goals in a row..

For me, Carlo Ancelotti and the team, must take a day off and go to the church or mosque or .. go and pray... hope the unluckiness go away .. especially Cech for now... so damn unlucky and all the fingers are pointing to him ...

Chelsea are playing great football now...... Only that, in football we need some luck .....

i'm with you on that. our 4 diamond 2 has brought us to the top of the epl and champions league group. absolutely no reason to change it right now. lampsy's work is more behind the scenes at the moment, with subtle assists and timely tackles. although i'd be lying if i said i didn't miss his incisive late runs into the box which usually end up with the ball being smashed into the back of the net. ivanovic's runs and crosses down the right have also improved by a significant degree and i applaud carlo for getting the best out of him. it was an absolute joy watching the everton defenders literally bouncing off him as he shielded the ball and passed it to anelka for that sweet finish!

the thing that needs the most work right now is undoubtedly, setpiece defending. one of the espn guys said it was 7 of our last 10 goals that were conceded from setpieces? astonishing. rectify that and we should be okay. nod.gif

indeed there is nothing wrong with the adopted formation, but sometimes, and in a row, carlo has fielded in the wrong players. what is deco and ballack still doing in the starting eleven if they arent performing? we've lost to mancity and drew everton, if we have to rely on the opponent's luck, we're gonna lose our lead at the top of the table. there is no time to sit back because we're on top, by a mere 3 point gap from united, and now arsenal. im not saying that we MUST win all the games but its not the time to draw or lose games at this time of the season. if the boys dont buck up and create another streak of ruthless wins, we are definitely going to struggle or worse, chase instead of being chased. the boys should get their act together and start winning games, i dont mind even if its grinding out those one nils. 3 points will do us more good than a goal fest but only one point. imho, who fails to perform, warms the bench, unless he's the best we've got but i do not believe so as we've got a thick squad of quality players, everyone wanting a spot in the first eleven.

lets not give ballack and deco too much stick, they are after all fighting for the club too. but they not performing, so they should warm the bench at the moment. the likes of malouda and kakuta who is on fire should be given a start. i heard matic was awesome in training after reading the wilkins interview.

yes he was, in fact i think his RB rampage started off when Guus came in, as he made some cover for Boss who was out for suspension (in UCL) or slight injury. But this season, he's doing really well, so far.

ivanovic start been a center of attention after he scored 2 goals against liverpool last season. remember 2 header goals from corner in champ league? he is good, just not much exposure last season.

aww i dont like all the rumors about our beloved cech. i like him. even my mother like him (she said because his face is clean and he got long arms lol)

every player have their ups and downs. i'm fully supporting and praying so that cech can regain his invincibility back. i know in him, we have the best goalkeeper in the football world.

there is a big chance that he might return from his thigh injury... well, this is going to be tough. my dream formation would be :

-----------------------Cech----------------------
--Ivanovic-----Alex-----Terry------A.Cole--
---------------------------------------------------
-----------------------Mikel----------------------
-----Joe Cole---------------------Flomo--------
---------------------Lampard--------------------
---------------------------------------------------
----------Drogba/Kalou-------------Anelka-----

ahhah. the backline looks solid after the goal we conceded. give credit to ashley for that last milisecond block/steal/whatever! the goal conceded today was really unlucky again. hit the wall and bounced into the box for the opponent to put it away.

great run from ivanovic forced wilson to concede a penalty and oh my did lampsy took it brilliantly! bazookad it right through the middle!

and finally uncle lotti made some good changes to change the game. brought in all the attacking players which made an impact in the game, joey and malouda was awesome! malouda whipping in dangerous crosses and joey cole bursting through defenses!

sad to say terry has a drop in form.

Added on December 17, 2009, 5:56 amand he also changed the formation! which is why i quoted the commentator tongue.gif

what you said was wrong too, they were packing the midfield with 5 players. borini was the lone striker when all 3 players were subbed in. it wasnt a 433 formation.

hmmm i think the performance was much better compared to the games before this. we have much more possession, more shots on goal and the players are working together to close players down. yes unfortunately it was another goal conceded. please dont blame cech, its almost impossible to save a shot at such a close range.

give the lads some credit. the underperformers were definitely deco, kalou and terry. deco losses alot of possession, kalou doesnt have that consistent striker instinct and terry isnt as solid as before. the rest of the players were pretty good. cech didnt do much work, ashley was bombing down and making last ditch tackles, ivanovic was defending and attacking well, mikel did a few steals, ballack's passes were quite accurate, lampard was ON FIRE(best performance i've seen him this season, looks like a 50 million midfielder, combining with ashley and the midfield very very well), anelka of course scored.

well, thats true. even if he isnt performing he tries to rally the team and if the team isnt attacking he will show an example! seen that many times and it never fails to impress me tongue.gif

however, i still hope that he will return to his solid form because thats what we need to win games.

ohoh, i woke up at 6am ngam2 to watch..

Ashley was godly, Iva made good runs too..

Anelka, what can i say, spamming kage bunshin no jutsu! he's everywhere on the field, like rooney liao haha

mikel defended well, but his passes were mostly disappointing

ballack made good passes sometimes, but they rili no pace haha (was referring to Deco as well)

Borini ALMOST scored in an open tap after beating the keeper, but just inches wide T.T

and last of all, we conceded via set piece again, the stupid painball pinball goal -.-

initially i was quite annoyed with the below average performance, but we have to take into account its their second game in about 5 days. the fatigue is just starting to show with our older players out there. only ivanovic and anelka performed admirably. even then the latter had some poor touches which i felt were totally out of character for the frenchman. such is his sky high standards! good finishes by both him and lamps though to restore our 3 point cushion. but i still have to mention borini's chance. my word how did he miss that! laugh.gif overall he looked really lively and unphased by all the superstar seniors around him which is a very good omen. kalou should start worrying now, considering he somehow missed that header early in the 1st half. now if only kakuta can get a runout this weekend

you know what guys, i think i will give credit to pompey.

'cause even they're at the bottom of the table, they don't field almost an entire reserves to play against us. in fact, they went to the Bridge and try to get a point.

poor us though, had a lil scare but the other team got 3 points so easily. heh smile.gif

added: anyone watched the highlights and saw lampard's cheap trick backheeling to ashley in the box? haha! seriously, it was a cheap one.

Inter has bought some good players this season and isnt an easy opponent to beat. I wouldnt look down on Inter despite their European record but Chelsea is gunning for the big ears this season!

Without Sneijder = This team is like a building without pillars. Eto'o has his own off and on days. Milito needs that clever midfield to support him. Defense could be solid as rock at times and cumble the next.
You guys should see an inter milan forum. They're writing their own team chances off already. sweat.gif

On paper and stats, we are the better team. But Mourinho being Mourinho, you never know if he might spring a few surprises!

Remember in pre-season recently, we won against them 2-0. Courtesy of a Drogba's thunderbolt and Lampard's goal.

i think its going to be one hell of a battle..mourinho's team talk will have some extra zest as he'll pull out all the stops to put one over chelsea and specifically, abramovich! not an easy draw by any stretch of the imagination. inter have what it takes, and so do chelsea! hmm.gif

ancelotti dismissed our link to aguero though
------------
In other news, Ancelotti dismissed media speculation linking us with Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero.

'It is not true because we don't sign a contract with any players, at this moment we do not think to buy Aguero,' said the 50-year-old.

We know that Ancelotti will stick to his diamond formation.
The formation might look like this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Cech----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------Ivanovic---------------------------------------Terry--------------------------------------------Carvalho-------------------------------------------Ashley Cole--------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mikel / Ballack ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------Lampard-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Malouda--------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Joe Cole----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------Anelka-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Drogba--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to Ancelotti, Balack or Mikel will be rested.

yes, probably we're gonna see that kind of formation. but i rather replace Alex with Carv and play Ballack rather than Mikel. just my opinion though, Alex is solid on the air and he is a brick wall at our defence system. while Ballack is more intelligence than Mikel, by looking at our pevious game Mikel always keep on doing a silly mistake, which im afraid thats gonna cause us a problem.

I dont know if Ballack had play holding midfield role this season but i'm sure that Balletti going to start & play that position.

Let me know if you guys found any games Ballack play as holding midfield this season sweat.gif

Ballack never play as defensive midfielder this season because we have Essien for that position.
Now, essien is injured & Mikel cover that position.

As we know, Ancelotti like to rotate players for the games.
Since Alex had played against Portsmouth, Carvalho will play in this game.
Another good news is Sturridege is also fit for this game.
It's been a long time since I saw him play

the other teams dropping points doesnt mean that we have room to relax. the boys should be more fired up and play their hearts out to gain a six point lead against united.

UP THE CHELS!

now i know why the coach always fields in deco. he does well in training but not in the actual game! read the interview of our recently departed kitman!

two big shocks already tonight. let's not follow their lead tomorrow, and reestablish that 5 point gap. we had a tendency to 'mirror' the results of the other top four teams, whenever they dropped points last season. we all know what that led to of course.
our ex-chelsea boy damien duff's finish is my pick of the bunch for fulham's win. a fantastic finish which reminded me of his blue days!
however it will all be for nothing if we don't get a victory tomorrow. i'd take an ugly 1-0 win thank you.

as i said in my previous post; take a look at our selfs 1st before depending on other matched results...DEFENSE MUST BE IMPROVED!!! vmad.gif otherwise we might get beaten by west ham....one more point to take note; if chelsea wear their away "NO LUCK" kit for today's match...i better dont watch today's game..cuz it will be either lost or draw...but i believed chelsea will play with home kit... sweat.gif

i hope ancelotti give malouda to ply more often.. rather then ply ballack or deco at left wing....i really hope bosingwa to recover ASAP..but ivanovic is awesome replacement on right flank....i hope each and every plyers today MUST play 110%...i don't want to see mistakes & playin like shit. Cuz we are in advantage circumstances..so 3 pts should be in pockets......

oh btw , if lose or draw , default reason is, they park bus. thats the IN thing to do nowadays. disregard squad not deep enough , or all that. just say they park the bus. its a good tactics btw. park the bus park the bus, the bus parked. parking of the bus. or the lorry whichever vehicle u like best , can park there in front of the goal.

we use this reason as well ,when we lost or draw. pls dont. it makes us look stupid. no matter what vehicle they park in front of the goal , if u cant score , u cant score. easy as that. ie not good enough of a team will only give reasons apart from themselves as their downfalls.

ref , park the bus, moon is not align with the axis of the earth , neighbor dog too noisy, etc.

maybe chelsea need to bring in the bus to shore up the defends eh ?

edit: another reason ppl use is , wearing no luck jersey OH CMON PPL.......... seriously ? hahaha sorry for the above post... not flaming ur post. tongue.gif

oh btw ,   if lose or draw ,  default reason is,   they park bus.  thats the IN thing to do nowadays.   disregard squad not deep enough ,  or all that.   just say they park the bus.   its a good tactics btw.  park the bus park the bus,  the bus parked.    parking of the bus.     or the lorry whichever vehicle u like best ,   can park there in front of the goal.

we use this reason as well ,when we lost or draw.  pls dont.   it makes us look stupid.  no matter what vehicle they park in front of the goal ,  if u cant score , u cant score.   easy as that.      ie not good enough of a team will only give reasons apart from themselves as their downfalls.
ref , park the bus,  moon is not align with the axis of the earth ,  neighbor dog too noisy, etc.

maybe chelsea need to bring in the bus to shore up the defends eh ?

edit:  another reason ppl use is ,   wearing no luck jersey OH CMON PPL..........    seriously ?    hahaha    sorry for the above post...   not flaming ur post.  tongue.gif

dude...luck plays it part in football world....so far Chelsea had never registered a draw on away kit, even though some of the matches they did create chances to score..but due to no luck on that F***** kit, it prevented Chelsea to get wins in those games...
sometimes i do believed in luck. different person different opinions..

i got a story for u on luck during CL final matched between Liverpool v AC Milan; before the match started, i read a news on net that today's lucky color for this matched will take glory, that is RED color. if not mistaken, its from commentator who said this and he got the info from a astrologist. At 1st i thought it was fluke....but on that final day at Istanbul; Liverpool wore red kit; where else Milan wore white kit. everyone know at HT the score was 0-3 for Milan. I believed at the moment the astrologers prediction on color was totally fluke or just for fun i think....but a miracle happened on the 2nd half, when liv were 1-3; i still dont believed the luck, but when liv equalized 3-3, i started to think tht will it become true??still not 100% believed. in the end the team in RED kit won, tht is the kop.... rolleyes.gif if on tht day Milan wore their home stripes red/black; and liv with their away kit i'm sure milan will win tht CL cup.

so guys based on above scenario; dont say luck is not true or wht..sometimes it does play in everyone's life not just in football....i'm not a luck believer or wht but, just sometimes we should realize the it plays in everyone's lifestyle....phewww! that's it buddy whistling.gif

yea. i somehow do think luck players a role in a match too. but that does mean the players can play half heartily. we must win tonight's game to gain a six point lead!

if arsenal win their game in hand , it will be 5 points gap with the 2nd place team which is arsenal, from the table as is, the game in hand for arsenal is just that , a game in hand , not points. so leave it at that.

And it's April this year lar, not last year.

Colour clash with our home kit is already evident. Expect the boys to wear the away kit or if they think it's a jinxed kit, they will go with the third kit.

Hahaha, nice one there krk but that's our home game @ SB. We had to wear the home kit anyway. It was what West Ham decided to wear that matters and they did not have a choice really cause their away kit last season was this:

user posted image

And no, West Ham did not have a 3rd kit. tongue.gif

Do take note that over the years, our away game policy is to wear the away/3rd kit against teams playing in clarets.

This is purely a marketing exercise by Adidas. If you remember well, our away kit that season was the gila mengancam 'electric yellow'. The kitman could have easily chosen to use that since it's the designated away kit for BPL matches anyway. Unfortunately, due to the fact that our white third kit that season was heavily under-utilised, the white third kit was worn instead (the first and also the last time in BPL that season). This very kit was also worn once only in UCL (in the q-final against Fenerbahce).

Let's not forget that it shouldn't have been a penalty in the first place. Upson got a big chunk on the ball, but it bounced back of Sturridge's shin. That is what deceived that linesman. - Soccernet gamecast

couldnt take our chances today, really lucky we're given that soft penalty.

thanks to lamps who kept his nerve to convert 3 retakes. other than that, we've played desperately and wasted widening the gap to 6 points at the top.

sigh

yuri should be given more starts, his dribbling is quite piercing but he needs more support. he can do alot of damage with support. today he dribbled past alot of players but no chelsea players were there to support.

sorry guys it just doesn't look like we want it that badly this year. another 2 points dropped against a team that was totally demolished by united. it looks like when drogba has a bad day, the whole team suffers. too many attacks have to go through our main man and that's worrying. easy fixtures or not, if we don't find some kind of cover during the ACN, i'm not going to put much hope in the title race. it just reminds me too much of last season when we insisted on dropping points simultaneously with the other top teams.
not a bad performance today, but not a great one either. knowing well in advance this was a massive chance to develop some sort of cushion, it's just severely disappointing. i don't see any reason why zhirkov and studge should remain on the bench anymore.
carlo needs to shake things up a little bit and make some drastic changes.

passing from midfield to attacking is good enough but sadly it ends there..
nice attacking play by zhirkov, but unsatisfied with joe cole n drogba performance today..
ballack also seems unsettled when the age factor starts to kick in..
except lampard, essien and mayb drogba, i hardly see any good long shooter from chelsea.. is that the quality we've been lacking with?

i admit it is not a penalty but at the same time west ham was given 3 chances to save the shootout...i think its fair for them...disappointed performances...joe should have scored; mikel play well....its a fair result for west ham...but we cant complain too much cuz our performances are really need to be IMPROVISED! mad.gif i missed bosingwa, essien, & anelka.

zhirkov almost scored, he play well too...malouda & kalou didnt take the opportunity to prove carlo tht they are good....wasted...better let go kalou to gunners he can become new henry/adebayor...
sturridge need more matches to get along with the BPL paced...hope carlo put him in 1st 11 for next match and drop out kalou..hope anelka to recover soon from injury.

really agree with Kerplunk. Suddenly Chelsea look exactly the same team that Scolari managed. Chelsea totally different team from team that easily beat arsenal at emirated. Since game against City, team suddenly losing their focus. Chelsea badly need winger and Zhirkov really looked superb.

ballack was actually one of the better players today imho. some bad mistakes towards the end, but certainly had his moments.
i have to disagree with u again on the formation change. its not the shape. its the players. 4-3-3, 4-4-2,4-5-1,1-1-8, won't make the slightest of difference if they're not up to it. simple as that. kalou and joey cole shouldn't have started the game.

cech was much better today, you can see terry telling the defenders to go up higher! awesome save by cech. the defending was okay but one mistake from ashley cost us a penalty.

the starting midfield was crap. malouda did not perform. joey is good outside the box but suck at shooting. ballack seriously cannot play the anchor role. once mikel came in, it was much better, he stole alot of balls and also passed nicely.

drogba had a bad day, he was invisible most of the time. kalou, he isnt first eleven material yet. studgy was quite good once he came on but i dont see the partnership with drogba.

lastly, i'd give credit to westham. their defense was very very solid.

another advantage not capitalized.

Added on December 21, 2009, 2:19 amwhen you sub in malouda, he performs, when you sub in yuri, he performs. when you start either one of them, they dont perform.

sturr has pace but lack strength, he cant hold the ball well. mikel held the midfield okay. joey had a disappointing night, u could tell he really wanted to score. yuri should be give more starts like i said, he can do alot of damage. and is alex still injured or what? carvalho has been really careless these days.

a good save from cech towards the end today from set pieces, might have cost us the game if it had went in. very dangerous.

its totally non sense when iva commits fouls. he is obviously faster than that player and barely touched him and the ref penalize him for nothing. non sense.

is iva still slow now. he fights for every ball too. those that he cannot reach he tries to slide and reach it.

Ivanovic deserves every bit to play for Chelsea.

100% agree with that..
btw, about the penalizing, i think the ref make the decision as he sees iva is a lot bigger than the other player,
since bigger always have higher impact on smaller, thus iva is the one accused at fault.. whistling.gif

the tackle on studge might not have been a pen, but bear in mind kalou won a pretty clear penalty imo when green clattered into him. so somehow it evened itself out if you're looking at it that way. didier was totally clueless for the best part of 90 mins and can't say he was much better than kalou. his first touch was nowhere to be seen and i think at times like these, we needed players like yuri and iva to start crossing them in with deadly accuracy. we had our chances with follow up shots just outside the box but i struggle to recall a single one that was actually on target.
i'd like to point out carlo's subs were spot on too. his changes had an immediate impact, but the players who began the match just didn't do enough in my eyes. when u have your attacking midfield players smacking balls high up into the stands, no amount of formation tweaking is going to rectify that.

JOHN TERRY MONEY SCANDAL source john terry money scandal linkk

ENGLAND football captain John Terry is SELLING private access to himself and his club through hush-hush £10,000 cash deals.

The Chelsea skipper uses notorious ticket tout Tony Bruce as a fixer. On Thursday the pair took 200 £50 notes from News of the World investigators for a tour of the Premier League team's five-star training facility.

Terry, 29, said his share would go to a kids' charity but insisted we keep the deal secret, adding: "If the club finds out, it's a little bit. . ."

West Ham was a class apart on spirit and passion, kept pressuring our players every time we had the ball. Our passing/normal game suffered because of that, hence we could not get decent and proper shots on goal.

Sturridge showed us some glimpses of his talent, but wasted IMO as apart from the penalty, he did not do much after that. Joey was also full of flicks and all that, but to no great effect.

We missed Nic up there with DD if you ask me, DD was just frustrated the whole night with neither Kalou nor Sturridge working well with him.

we sak last night . period. even ref give us a free penalty. continue like this form, we will be eaten alive by jose's inter , not to mention bye bye to the top spot. imagine last night , west ham was the one that gotten the dubious penalty. how do we feel ? its 1 point gain and not 2 point lost last night . we dont hv 3 point to begin with. we hv 0 point last night until ref decide ok lets give chelsea a hand with a penalty that needs to be taken 3 f***ing times. so yeah. cech had a fine save on 88 minute , if that went thru, we deserve it all night long for playing like school boys.

JT scandal ? no wonder freekick defending like crap , he is part time tour guide ..........

buck up , or at this rate we will be handy over the title to manunited ( arsenal ? ) by january.

IMO they should have brought in zhirkov earlier .... kalou and joey cole did not play well at all.... cole missed 2 or 3 decent chances , kalou just did not shine ... drogba just had a bad day at the office.... the rest was okay but i think the way they played yesterday was different... they tried to play the ball faster than the usual pass and move game by chelsea.... west ham did really well to hold chelsea yet manage to create some attacking chances.... i dont think we deserved to win yesterday ... west ham defence were quite good... next match they should start with zhirkov and sturridge ,later in 2nd half replace sturridge with kalou because i think he is a super sub ...

the main thing is that we wasted 2 points doh.gif

joe cole is clueless sad.gif he cant dribble, he cant shoot, he cant do anything with the ball. all i can say is, he is overated. we need a better AM, thats it.
our attacking just doesnt work when there is kalou upfront, carlo made a smart move by changing him with sturridge, which i think the guy looks promising. zhirkov did a stunning job, he made a lovely run and had a good attempt on goal.

ashley doing a fantastic job back there despite the pens, petr the great also proving that he is still the best shot stopper in the world. overall our players look tired, i cant see the hunger anymore. we need to buckle up and concentrate. drogba and anelka need each other, by looking at our display last night i REALLY think that we probably cant survive this january.

we need to buy this transfer window and making the right transfer could be the difference between winning and losing the title. i'd take anyone right now. anyone consistent who can shoot the ball or take on a defender and actually beat his man, not run around him and lose the ball. stop saying our team is complete and we dont need to buy any player carlo, because you know what happen last night.

Joe cole isn't overrated. You should have watched him playing before he got this "long term" injury which caused him to stay out for about 1 year. He was one of the best dribbler which is why he was fielded in various positions like right, centre and even left for england. He was part of mourinho success where you see players like damien duff, shaun wright phillips were even offloaded. Robben and Cole were regulars in right and left flank then. He even scores outrageous goals from centre of midfield.

He'll take his time to recover back his old form.

An old video of him:

Just search on youtube and you'll get plenty videos of him.

Probably you don't if u have watched him in and out since he joined chelsea or even before that smile.gif

You probably started to pay attention on him since he recovered from his long term injury.

No offense, this morning's match wasn't the best of him. But just based on that, you're judging him overrated, no?

Sorry if im being harsh, I just think he's being one of the best english attacker out there. Just give him the time tongue.gif

he's been my idol since he wear a blue. and i've been watching him and follow his career before and after he got the long term injury. i think you misunderstood what im trying to say just now. after he got back from the long term injury, he's been hype too much by carlo and the media.

After a third season in England which was punctuated by injury, Robben moved to Spanish club Real Madrid for €35 million.

Real madrid was chasing him and he decided to move. And chelsea have sought out a replacement for him, Florent Malouda.

IMO, if not due to his injury prone, I'd say he's the best left winger in the world. But nowadays you see a lot of good Unorthodox left-wingers (right-footed) like robinho and ribery =P

overall our players look tired, i cant see the hunger anymore. we need to buckle up and concentrate. drogba and anelka need each other, by looking at our display last night i REALLY think that we probably cant survive this january.

we need to buy this transfer window and making the right transfer could be the difference between winning and losing the title. i'd take anyone right now. anyone consistent who can shoot the ball or take on a defender and actually beat his man, not run around him and lose the ball. stop saying our team is complete and we dont need to buy any player carlo, because you know what happen last night.
*
good point there. i agree they look tired but the hunger is still there. the only problem is their minds are fully focused and their bodies just aren't 'responding' accordingly. this is what age can do to you when games start to pile up. it really does seem like our epl season will depend on how well we perform this january. if we choose to persevere with the same aging players, i fear the worst. however, if somehow carlo starts putting more faith in zhirkov, kakuta, and studge, i won't put it past them to step up and make a huge mark on the team as well as results. we have many players waiting in the wings, eager to prove themselves. it may just be what we need.
studge coming on and having a blinder is a good example. yes he gave the ball away a few times, but his burst of pace and eagerness (compared to certain seniors) was a constant threat to west ham.

nope. he got nudged towards the exit door to put it lightly. fact : jose did not like flair players. i'm not sure if he's changed that philosophy at inter. after robben started becoming more prone to injury, his relationship with the gaffer fell apart. we all know what happened after that. such a waste but nothing we can do about it now.

birm and hull fixtures suddenly look really really difficult now. i miss essien and bosingwa sad.gif
on a lighter note, kakuta scored for the reserves! it wound up a 5-3 defeat away to celtic, but bear in mind they had 5 first teamers starting the game. can't wait for the highlights!

wow suddenly feels like our team thread is so quiet..last post before this is 7.20pm, 22/12 haha

btw, just want to say congrats to terry for being in the FIFPro team of the year. he truly deserves it.

the matches during christmast seems quite tough. 26th and then 28th december got match. hopefully the players can be rotated accordingly to prevent excessive faatigue.

i didnt watch the match against west ham and i heard anelka is injured.. any news on him?

i think its just a minor injury and he will be back soon enough, maybe for the game on the 28th but hopefully for both the games on the 26th and 28th. we're all very disappointed with the westham loss but its all over now.

now the big question is, will we enter the transfer market for an attacking player?

some bad news guys..and i mean real bad. anelka's out for the birmingham AND fulham game. studge will get a start this weekend says carlo on the official webby. he even said he's going to use both studge and borini for the fulham game as didier will have left for the ACN by then. our gaffer is still insisting we'll rely 100% on our youngsters without delving into the january market. what i'm most annoyed about is di santo WON'T be recalled to provide cover for our departing ivorian pair. is it just me or does anyone else think we're getting a tad overconfident here?

i sure hope you're right plooky. the decision not to recall di santo definitely raises more than a few eyebrows, and considering the new injury to anelka, i'd say the chelsea board are probably smart enough to have something planned already. it just defies logic that they'd take a huge gamble by relying solely on our 2 young strikers plus a half-fit anelka in january. so i'll take a wild guess and say we're probably at the negotiating table for at least one player. either that or the board have gone bonkers. just those two options really.

villa who has 2 years at the most playing at the very peak of his powers? potentially with a price tag similar to aguero's and taking a season to acclimatise (by then which he'll be 29)? i'll settle for the much more creative and robust young argentinian thank you. smile.gif

nope. the only players we're entitled to recall are di santo and mancienne. the club have chosen to leave both out of the equation. it definitely doesn't bode well for franco's future. stoch is on a season long loan. we can't change the terms as we please.

a.cole, a lot of rumours, busy private life.... rclxub.gif

Who is better in soccer? i prefer bridgey...... but managers choose cole in team and england. biggrin.gif

I think ashley cole would be in arsenal's team of the decade tongue.gif

But I'd say cole is better than bridge. He has also always been chosen over bridge for england since early 2000's.

Btw, Petrescu left chelsea in 2000 and Lebeouf in 2001.

The decade covers 2000 - 2009 thus it's fitting to choose players who represented Chelsea then. Since the both of them wore Chelsea colours then, they would be considered 'eligible'. smile.gif

i'm worried because at the moment we have nobody who's in the same mould as didier. there isn't any target man to win those long balls when the going gets tough. di santo would be perfect for the job, but for some strange reason chelsea have chosen to leave him at blackburn. what i don't understand is, why not recall him temporarily for the duration of the ACN then loan him back for the rest of the season? it's a win-win situation and not exactly rocket science. sigh..we can only hope studge hits the ground running tonight, and alongside borini help us garner as many points as possible, if we choose not to buy anyone.

There is a rule in EPL that a player cannot play for 3 club in the same season but not sure BLACKBURN >> CHELSEA >> BLACKBURN consider 3 club or maybe the rules is u cannot register the player 3 times.

If is that the case, it would be fair for DI SANTO to let him play at BLACKBURN rather than coming back to play few games and then warm the bench. Not to forget BORINI and STURRIDGE is already training in diamond formation while DI SANTO have no idea how the team plan work.

Worse come to worse we still have ANELKA and can play christmas tree formation but losing ESSIEN and DROGBA is a big big lost. I would happy if we can come out of january still at the top of the table even dropping 4 pts but lvl at the top of the table is fine with me.

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has admitted it would be ‘a dream’ to play for Real Madrid. The Spanish giants want to sign Ivanovic next month as a replacement for Pepe, who is likely to miss the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.
Branislav Ivanovic

Dream deal: Ivanovic ® is open to Real Madrid idea

In time, Real see Ivanovic as replacement for Sergio Ramos at right back and the Serb defender admitted: ‘If it is true that Real Madrid are interested in me it would be an honour because the club is a dream for every player.’

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti does not want to lose the much-improved defender who arrived from Lokomotiv Moscow in a £9.7million deal two years ago.

Chelsea are understood to be drawing up a new contract offer for Ivanovic — his current deal runs out in 18 months — in a bid to ward off Real’s interest

okay i have to salute your patience! laugh.gif
but i think many of us here think its better not to pass up on this chance to build or at the very least maintain our lead at the top. its our best opportunity as other teams have been slipping up. the main source of frustration is the fact that we've had a chance to pull away from the chasing pack a number of times already and just failed to make them count.

meh i'll believe it when it happens. i don't think he'll sacrifice first team football which he's getting now, to cover for the temporary absence of pepe at madrid. at least carletto rotated between him and the boss, even when the latter was fully fit. heck he even seems to prefer the serbian. if he insists on chasing his 'dream' we can just lead them on and sell to barca at the last minute instead. like what they did with a certain brazilian. and if they expect us to let him go easily and on the cheap after what happened with said brazilian, they've got another thing coming. fleece them for 28 million pounds at the very least if it comes to that.

missing key players play a big factor in games but even they cannot win every game they play. i hope the subs will step up and win us tonight's game. being the first game played this weekend, we have to set the bar. we cannot settle for anything less than 3 points.
