550D 18-55 3113. what about 550D 18-135? The price is (RM4.4k) with 18-135 lens, 2 8 GB card and bag.

actually i am also considering whether to get 550D 18-135 or D90 18-105 free 1 8g card (RM4.2k)...

My budget is Rm1000, and i want the camera that produce a clear & sharp picture within this budjet, i love to capture emotion of person ,scenery & take pic with my girl ( i know some of you will recommend DSLR but my budget restrict me )

from my surveillance at lowyat plaza today , i had 4 camera in my mind

1) canon ixus 100is @ 120 is
2) panasonic lumix fp8
3) sony w350
4) samsung st550

the salesgirl `racun` me to take samsung, and I really impress with it user interface, but i decide to google it first,


Ooo...forget to say, canon power shot sx120, issit produce a good pic, bcoz maybe I able to learn with manual function (aperture, shutter, iso )

I guess I will get the D90 compare to 550D 18-135.

if ur budget din limit that y not Nikon D90? I might be bias but 550D is consider entry level and D90 is mid range..so y not?
meanwhile S90 is compact cam but able to adjust d setting manually like dslr, however there are something compact dun have in dslr...is depend on u wether u r doing serious photography or just for personal use

i was thinking about that too. I have tried hands on both cameras asking them how to operate on the menu.
Seems nikon buttons r all out and easier to control. but you need to press on them and set the settings
where my hands felt kinda cacat.

Whereas, canon, u need to go further in details n etc. I did like photography just dun have the confidence.
summore funny thing is that the promoter psycho me into getting the S90 since i really blank with dlsr. =P

btw, just a noob question, live view = u can see what you take on the lcd screen?

canon = can see what you take from the screen
nikon = cannot see from the screen( only can view after shots are being taken? )


btw, for kit lens, from what i feel is that D90 is kinda cheaper though the lens is cut less than half.
Why r u saying that budget permits then get D90? again

here's my situation guys:
i have olympus 1030 and its been couple years and now the video mode is spoiled now but the rest is ok.but i dont like taking night pictures. quality is bad for me.

first i wanted to get sony alpha 380 then decided nikon d5000.

sony :
twin lens
cheaper
no hd video mode
(personally sony fan, have a sony vaio and thinking of sony satio too )

nikon :
one lens,
MUCH more expensive.
swivel and hd video mode.

i need some direction from sifus here. should i go for sony and save and in the futre get another digi cam with video?

or spend on nikon?

i love the idea of swivel screen on nikon where i can do self portrait ( yes i like to camwhore ).sony is not far behind but cant swivel I THINK.only tilt.

please give ur 2 cents guys.

Hm i m nikon user..so yea i m use to nikon all setting and is very convenience for me actually XP..but depend individual to find out which cam is friendly user for them. Alot ppl choose to start wif basic and entry level to get used to it, then only upgrade to higher level. Tats y the promoter ask u get S90

live view mean u no need see the viewfinder to shoot, u can c from d lcd screen and shoot (like normal compact camera). All canon got live view (i think) and all nikon entry lvl dun have. But D90 got ..

D90 kit lens is not bad and kinda sharp . What i mean is if ur budget allow u to get D90, y not? after all i believe D90 can perform better than 550D

I'd say SX120 if you're really interested in learning manual, 100 IS if you just want a casual. The 120 is expensive, the FP8 also over a bit (but a good choice nevertheless), w350 isn't that good, and the Samsung...

Don't get it. Trust me you won't like seeing your face being horribl-ized by that camera. It is seriously lacking on the image quality side.

S90 is a good choice, if you don't want a DSLR.

Yes, Live View means you're seeing the 'picture' on the LCD. Comes in handy when you can't put your face to the viewfinder (concerts, etc).

Both Canon and Nikon support Live View.

Also, D90 performs much better than the 550D. What do you expect? Intermediate against an entry-level WITH VIDEO. I'm not trying to insult or anything but it's kinda obvious that these mid-range cameras are just low-level ones with video. Hell it isn't even Full HD video.

Just go for the D90, you'll make up for it later while learning. If not then you're safe to go with the S90.

I'm a Sony fan too (I have 2 Vaio's, planning for another one, Bravia's in the house) but I have to let my case down on this though, Sony DSLRs just don't seem to appeal much. I don't know what they can boast about, unlike C and N.

Now, I shall elaborate a little on pros and cons.

Sony gives two lenses (18-70 and 55-200, if I'm not mistaken). - These two lenses are the cheapest, and the worst. Sorry to say I just despise both these lenses. Secondly, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Cheap doesn't necessarily mean good, although it might seem to be. And lastly, HD video isn't really important anyway.

Nikon on the other hand. The price justifies the quality.

It's up to you, so, yeah. Good luck making your decision.

Bring out your 18-55. Alone enough to smack both the Sony lenses in quality.

D60 isn't really good though. Chose 1000D over it because of the measly 3 AF points. It felt like a beginner's camera. D3000 improved a lot though.

1000D also entry lvl cam..LOL..D3000 improve alot and replace D60 but the noise control sucks big time. The reason why i choose Nikon over canon coz of sharp lens and good white balance control ..anyway no regret for me. Been using D60 for almost a year. And i might upgrade d body end of this year. Currently using Sb-600 and Tammy 1750 ..is good enuf for my event, model and landscape at the moment

1000D still does better than D60. 7 AF enough d.

Feeling like getting a 17-55/17-50, but haven't been active with camera recently. Exams.

hmm i dun find AF point is a issue for me when i m doing handheld..and yes is a prob for me when on tripod..so yea XP..depend ler

im just a beginner. maybe wont even venture deep into dslr like make a living out of it u know? so yea..i mean like nikon d5000 is really tight on my budget and u know la..family will go bonkers that i spend 3k just on a camera.
