any models of the same price (RM1500) which beats EOS 1000D?
What about EOS 1000D vs G12?

Dear sifu sekalian, I am a newbie who wanna learn photography. I am liking photography as i feel like it's freezing precious moments, like wedding, outing, vacations and etc..

I wanna learn from the very basics and wish to get a DSLR. I know there are varieties of DSLRs around. Getting a 550D,60D or D90 would be a waste for me now becuz i'm just a new bird. I wanna start low. May I ask, what model is suitable for beginners like me?

Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera
Budget : RM1,000 - 2,500
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Canon, Nikon
Type of photography u want to do : Indoor, Outdoor, Landscape, Potrait
Any specific models in mind? : 1000D, D5000
Any specific features u want? : Sufficient learning modes for beginners so that I can turn to Intermediate soon. I do not mind second hand units if they are still healthy to be used for 2 years.

Dear kayden, Why are you thinking about D5000 instead of D3100 ? just take a look here.. http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond3100/
Just sad that D3100 cant do bracketing but still the ISO performance is very good...

Dear ripper, thanks for the feedback, after reading the review, it seems like D3100 is a better buy here.
Hmm, bracketing seems like useful for newbies like me. But we can compensate that with a lil experience later on. =)

Any more suggestions of camera models for newbies? I will do research on the models, just name me suitable ones smile.gif

I would seriously recommend D3100 too regarding the budget and your shooting purpose... If need bracketing just do it manually, set to -2 and +2 EV yourself and shoot 3 photos.

For 1.8~1.9k kit price, D3100 totally pawns other bodies at the same price range with the outstanding performance.

60D is such a nice camera. Tried it and absolutely love it! I really love the size, feel and the weight of it. 550D feels like a toy in comparison

I think, with 2 of your advice, I am almost decided to get 60D.
Yes u r right, I mean swivel LCD. Sorry for not been used the correct word.

So, the last decision to make either go with 18-200 kitlens for easy travel or 18-55 + 55-250 for better quality picture?
If I understand well, the kitlens from canon 18-200 is with USM, any 3rd party Lens (55-250) with similar performance and better budget to recommend? ( in case I decided to go on 18-55 + 55-250)

thanks in advance.

To the pro here,

Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR Lens
Budget : Ard RM1800
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Canon or Tamron
Type of photography u want to do : 70% Landscape, 30% Portrait (too greedy wink.gif )
Any specific models in mind? : Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical IF Macro Zoom Lens
Any specific features u want? :
Basically a lens that is suitable for travelling purpose. I understand that each lens has its unique features and produce different results, but sometime precious moment can come and go within seconds especially when travelling around. Furthermore, weight is also one my consideration, less is better.

Btw, I have 550D and 18-55 IS kits lens in hand.

thanks in advanced for the reply.

Hi all,

Would like to buy new compact digital camera.
Appreciate your advice for budget below RM300.
Currently lumix or ixus is the one, but still not decide yet.
Still open to other brand as well.
Any recommendation will much appreciate.

Thanks

Does it qualify for the Canon 1+2 years warranty?

Should be equal or less than RM1.5k from what i surveyed previously. Body only should be around RM1.2k whereas lens would be less than RM300(if no warranty)

Again, this is what i observe and not the price i'm asking you to sell at laugh.gif Again, i do not want to be held responsible for anything that may arise from your decision to follow my "prices" tongue.gif
