QUOTE(bcombat @ Nov 13 2020, 06:53 PM) Just finished painting one of the wall. ( pic before and after) The upper part of the wall was less than perfect...hmmm I have wash the wall with warm water with a bit of dishwasher liquid and later spray the wall with water garden hose. Later, I applied one layer of sealer and two layer of white paint on the wall. Look like it was not good enough... Look like i may need the stronger water spraying tool such as high pressure water jet which used by some of the contractor to clean the wall. The molds are still there, your paint won't last that long until it turns back to the previous look. The proper way is to do high pressure water jet first, then apply Fungicide and leave overnight to kill fungus spores. Then proceed with normal painting system with 1 coat sealer and 2 coats finishing. Btw it looks like you were using overly-thinned sealer or base paint with water/ inferior grade paint. The hiding is pretty poor.

QUOTE(mini orchard @ Nov 13 2020, 07:53 PM) Is only a small section of wall. Use the left over paint to coat it few times rather than storing it for later use. Garden wall tend to get dirty quick esp if is white. Long way to go. Obviously need lots of paints if every wall need 3-4 layers. Attached thumbnail(s)

Paint won't stick if the mold is still there. Something like this: https://www.lazada.com.my/products/14-wire-...Nze0Al&search=1In painting well - the prep work is more important than the application of paint. I need to paint 2 sides ... incl backlane kitchen wall. My advise ... NEVER use white. A darker colour will need lesser coat. Not necessary to use any fungus killer. Use weather shield paint ...it last longer, washable. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Nov 14 2020, 01:28 PM

Super Economy range white (and black) that come in RM35/7L matex/maxilite tub is different opacity from the proper custom mix colour paints costing RM90/5L. Similar for the RM43/7L limited colour super economy colour paints. These are already super diluted and the base material is worlds different even compared to proper indoor paint even. Wash it off the next day and allow it to dry first before subsequent painting. Use proper exterior grade wall sealer and finishing. 1 coat wall sealer 2 coats finishing If you don't overly thin your paint, normally the above system should be enough. Colour really does not matter much, although yellowish off-white and darker colours look less dirty as stains are not that visible on these colours. It is not true that coloured paints are better than white colour, pastel based colour including white normally contains more Titanium dioxide (what we call white powder) thus provide better hiding.

Ya Matex is economy grade interior paint and is not suitable for exterior application. Weathershield/weatherbond is the go for exterior grade paint.

anyway since some of you mentioned it, these are the paints and sealer that I used. I didn’t add any thinner or water before painting. Any comment? This post has been edited by bcombat: Nov 17 2020, 05:36 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

How long do you normally wait for cement render to dry before painting? After 3 weeks of rendering, my wall still got plenty of dark grey patches

After 3 weeks of rendering, my wall still got plenty of dark grey patches It really depends on the environment. But it's normal to paint after a month. If your contractor has protimeter, request to test the moisture level to be below 16 to start painting.

Your paint is ok ... did you stir the paint thoroughly b4 painting.? Paint mixture sitting at home for 1 week is different from one that is just bought from shop.

hello all. Want to ask noob stuff. My apartment has just been completed, vacant unit as usual. Basic white painting that comes from developer.
Developer used white cheap paint (Jotun Jotaplast Max). I planned to do another white paint over it (with Nippon Paint Easy Wash) once cabinet installations are done.
My questions: 1. I can just paint with Easy Wash paint on top of the Jotaplast Max, right?
2. After doing the Easy Wash paint and let it dry, do i need to use a sealer? E.g. Nippon Paint Vinilex 5200 interior Wall Sealer.

Yes 2. No.

QUOTE(hirano @ Dec 6 2020, 05:55 PM) For the sealer. I can use it after all painting done right? As the top coat. Not so sure on this cos never used. Sealer is the first layer on bare cement plaster as the "innerwear" layer. It won't be suitable for going out, so need to wear "clothes" which is the top coat paint. So as for your question, don't be a superman (wearing innerwear on top of clothes)
