want to ask a survey question here:

Planning to open a lfs, now searching for location:

Tentatively narrow down to 2 location, one is Kuchai Entrepeuner park opposite Dynasty Condo, the place is new shop lot, look more updated, modern and trendy, the drawback is shop lot is smaller, super jam, need to orbit 10 rounds b4 you can get a parking space and hidden away from main traffic view, so exposure will be very low.

Another location is behind Kuchai Entrepeuner park, Happy Garden, Old shop lot, rental cheaper, shoplot bigger, no problem with parking, main road high exposure, draw back is old uncle type shop, not trendy.

So as a hobbyist, if both place offer the same thing like pellet, SW, feeder fish and so on, will you mind the jam or you will skip the jam and buy from the shop behind?

The reason to the survey is, I need to know the majority of the younger generation mentality, do they mind traffic jam and parking problem to the extend they dun wan to have anything to do with old untrendy uncle shop type offering the same thing?

Or convenient is still an important factor.

Hi Moorish,

In my opinion the one at happy garden is the better imo.
If u are planning to open your biz, dont rely just on physical human traffic to notice your shop, use other means to spread the news, ie, lowyat forum, friends and family lol

No worries, if you give us good price we will definetly support you!!!
You should also do some surveying around to other shoplots to see what they offer and what items they are slacking....imo there are so many stuff that the shops around town slack so much stuff,...but i'm sure they have thier reasons lol.

Anything you'd liek to ask, we can provide feedbacks. (ie what we would liek to see, what we feel is useless etc) hahaha

For me, the items i find hard to find is;

Eco-bio blocks (aquarium backteria rocks) - so far i only know of one but at usj area that sells it.
Good info on fish (put fish behavior, feeding, level of care, ph pref. etc details on aq side....this makes things more professional and less questions to ask you until u headache for those newbie buyers)
Hikari pellet food for bichirs LOL!!! damn...
i'll add on summore as soon as i can recall anything else tongue.gif

Here's a really good biz tip too....unlike other lfs, you can also give in something different, like membership cards.
This can be used for both sides to help you keep track of your customers as well as your customer care.
Certain products from using this method you will know aproximately when your customers will come back to get more supplies. You will then be able to do forecast and planning of products so you can do re-order for just in time. This so you wont dissapoint your customers by keeping them waiting etc...as well as save you cost of inventory stock keeping. Less expiring goods the better !! more shelf space too!!
Not only that you can also from all the data collected tell which products are favourable and which arent. You will know what and when they want it!
Most of the lfs's just use thier back of the head..."aiyoh this aiyoh that" and assume things only.
Other stuff from that maybe can help to keep track of your customer's pets, so you can provide more personal touch by knowing what they have and can advise them better. Easier to push products if u already know what they buying for beforehand hahahaaha. thumbup.gif

If you want rite, you can also open small mamak too, like have coffee/drinks outside where ppl can chillout and discuss about thier fish etc (benefits is that your shop will look more active than any others, can attract and make your place even more popular!....and also you wont be so boring and lonely gnek gnek gnek)

*
hmnn, imo the black is more....exquisite biggrin.gif lol, the 1st one where got 3D background is i feel ...no offense to anyone who has...but just lame blush.gif ... lol

I believe the lfs that sell aq's can do it for you. Black/Blue will look great....like the one shown in sifu Saif's red aro vid. The blue is damn nice haha. Ocean blue water feeling.

more!! more!! more vids of your arowanas!!!

Hey i just wondering rite....for those that play around with brackish water for your aros......is it very difficult task?

cuz its like change in p.h during wc can cause the aro to die rite? how to make sure the ph is all good and not to cause the aro to die of ph shock? as in what are the steps taken during water change and when to add the brackish water thingy?

Cuz like for me i think about it....assume water is fresh from tap in aquarium (ph.7)- use ac to condition water...
then add in the brackish water solution which also at the same time increases the acidity of the water...
lets say its at a perfect 6.5....aro lives in the aq for week...all good..
one week after, the p.h cud be like ph6.6 or 6.7 cuz of the amonia-nitrate-nitrite conversion (cycle process) which of the nitrates and nitrites in the water cause the ph to go alkaline a bit...

Then its time for a 20% water change....
takes 20% volume water....ph still remains at 6.5-7
adds in anti-chlorine....
adds in tap water (ph.7) into the aq which has water 6.5-7
------ph balance takes effect-----what is the ph conversion from a 20% water change?
then once 20% water replaced....
add in brackish water solution (that is suposed to increase acidity of water)

Does the water go back to 6.5?

During this stage is what is worrying me....will it make the water too acidic? will there be fluctuations in the ph...1st tap water (ph 7) then brackish water (ph.6.5)

Sorry i know i sound messy.... rclxub.gif

cud anyone enlighten me plz? wud be really gratefull smile.gif

hmn my bucket holds about 12L

hmnn just pondering....wud it be advisable to do 1bucket wc everyday? lol like 12l change...as opposed to changing water only once or twice a week?

i was thinking maybe put 1 bucket of water overnight...next day take out one bucket of water from the aq and then add the overnight water into the tank......then have another bucket of water left overnight....repeat this every night...

wud that be good?

mm nola....i just thought of that cuz i feel it shud help to reduce the chances of ph shock for the arowanas (which i heard is 2nd highest cause of aro death)

Cuz rite i feel i wud be playing with the brackish water so ph will be a factor as well...need to make sure jaga properly maaaa haha

very expensive fish leh :S

hey all, i just got my new 5 ft aquarium today ^^

1st step acomplished lol.....

now comes the ironic part....i have ehiem classic canister filter......will it be enuf for the arowana and 3 bichirs?

Also the tubing not long enuf zzzz....anyone know where can buy eheim tubing and aprox how much it costs? lol damn i need to budget budget budget >.<

took them seriously great effort to carry it up to my room >.<

they wet the black foam bottom and then slide the aq over the cabinet...at the bottom got air bubbles in the wet bottom :S they said is like that and will take time for it to evaporate....is that true? sounds dodgy zzzz
summore said better wait for another 4-5 days before start to put water in cuz it was just made yesterday night :S

ya 12mm thick..standard ma ...dunno about the pleco tho...not sure if they ok with the bichirs :S

hmnn as for the bottom i dun think it dry up loe...cuz the base is basically just styrofoam with the black poster thingy pasted on top of it sad.gif

Sigh i feel like have to scold them to get them to come and change the bottom or help me lift the tank up then take the styrofoam with black poster to dry then put it back....but what puzzles me is that they said if they dont wet it they wont be able to put the tank over without damaging the styrofoam >.< sigh

well at least i was able to solve the filter tube thingy...cuz the ehiem filter tube is u-turn shaped and it was pvc i just basically went down to my kitchen stove....turn on small fire...roast the tube a bit till it became soft enuf and bent it straight lol...not entirely straight the way i wud like it but...good enuf haha...what to do...hand modified ma tongue.gif

zzz shud i call the idiots to fix the bubble at the bottom issue ar? i still havent put in water yet ...just starting at the bottom of the tank make me a bit angry liao vmad.gif

here are the pics biggrin.gif

Tank whole...sorry had to take the front pic from that angle cuz opposite this aq is my computer table and bed >.<

Yeah, Saif sifu has always been awsome!!

...gonna call them up tmr and see if they can help bring some ppl to help me lift the glass tank and do the oyama'ing for me....since i stay at o.u.g, maybe the pudu one might be nice enuf ...for the right price lol

wah-chai ar smile.gif i feel you should invest in your aquarium 1st loe, cuz then the arowana can grow its potential and also you can see your arowana zoom around here and there in a tank so much bigger than itself lol.
But if you feel you can definetly and surely going to get the aquarium within a few months time then yala...shud be ok cuz i seen my cousin do that before. I feel the silvers do grow quite fast, depending on how much u feed it loe i guess

the plastic aq i think i know what you mean haha, its the one with the red cover and got middle flap can open wan, mostly ppl use that for quaranteen tank for small/mid sized fishes
