hi all you arowana masters biggrin.gif
I'm seeking advise tongue.gif

I'm currently a bichir type person...and yeah...safari pricing on a seng. is like swt ....

anyways, just tot i'd like to ask rite, if bichirs can be kept with a arowana?

Currently i got 2 ornate bir. , 1 dehlzie, 1 seng, 1 albino seng. and a rope fish =.=" in a 4ft by 1.5 ft aquarium tank.
On avg my bichirs are like 5-6 inch

If i'm to get an arowana, i'd be planning to sell/trade off my 2 orantes and probly the rope too.

i'm 1st time thinking about getting arowana in my tank haha, i too admire the beauty ^.^ just that i find them seriously madly pricy :S (image of money flying outta wallet hahaha

Reason = bichirs most of the time low level...my top level is very empty =.="
Maybe i get yellow tail guah...not sure :S
I saw some priced at rm150 at a fish shop near my place for yellow tail, is that good pricing? :S

Also, is arowana diet costly? how much do you masters ususally spend on feeding your arowana's on avg?

Thank you arowana sifu's for your advice in advance tongue.gif

oo ic haha

hmnn, my ornates were bought at 'sea park' p.j.
I bought them like a year ago lol when they were like only 2 inch lol. If i remember correctly it was rm55.
My dehlzie was given as a gift from my uncle (currently in sg), not really sure where it was from but from going around k.l and selangor (casual fish shop look-out =.=) it seems to be very very rare =.="

imo too many taiwan striped-bichir around sad.gif (soz i forgot the actual name- too late nite gonna sleep tired to search the name lol)
me dun like the taiwan bichir cuz the head shape look like someone step on it swt .....but thier body somewhat reminds me of a dessert tank wtf lol....@.@

mmm.. so u'd think rm150 for a yellow tail (6 inch) arowana is good price? or rip off @.@
I soo want to have like gold-xback or blood-red arowana but i guess i'll only attempt to buy it when i'm like ...rich-rich lol
(ya =.=" i kno...my job salary sucks....zzzz)
wahahaha

Hmnn...i went around here and there looking at arowanas ....there are some shops selling 1/2 red i think cross breed with gold...
you'd think those are good? or are cross-bred types got issues and all :S

i'm so scared to buy arowana cuz i only got so much budget :S lol

do you guys put in the arowana vitamins/spa/mineral salt thingys?

Your arowana education to me is very much appreciated biggrin.gif

**By the way, i'm thinking about selling my 2 ornate bichirs 6 inch and a ropefish biggrin.gif....extremely healthy and loves sinking pellets and feeder fish (i totally love to watch them snare the fish like a pro in the dark with minimal lights lol) ^.^

me using holland sand only lol. The plants i put in are those hardy ones which require nothing but light and fish wastes hahaa...

Yeap the bichirs are always kewl. They are afterall...dinosaur fish lol
One thing about the ornates is that when they lift up the fins on the back...it always reminds me of pirate flags or sails lol....@.@ guess i'm reading too much one peice manga rofl

Once i get arowana i guess i will need to be removing the driftwoods as well as relocate the plants....hmnn...probly thinking of putting them at the background as display....problem with that is the water jet is shooting the water at the back...will probly make all the plants slanted sideways lol...looks odd >.<

I think i decided my budget for arowana will be rm500 guah...dunno if i shud get the 1/2 red 1/2 gold aro i saw the other day anot :S

Mtgh, how much did you get your red for and what size? tongue.gif cuz i'm thinking of red too...

hmnn..i think most fish shops do have holland sand if i not wrong..haha..

The powerhead got led lights (shanda hydrostar Led 908sp), i use it mainly for the undergravel filter lol, the led lights when all lights are out (including the sun)gives like a like dim dim dei moonlight but can still see the bichirs swimming around in the dark ninja'ing the feeder fish.

The silver fish are the feeder fish loe...i not sure what they called lol...ikan billi? lol

The discus fish silver flat one with gold fins i also not quite sure what its called :S anyone able to help identify? :S
It actually had a friend of its own kind but my bichirs didnt get along with that one and bit on the head so hard the enys bengkok inwards >.< and it was swimming lop-sided i think got brain squeezed (the great Khalieeee (wwe) hand squeezing head style)....i gave it mercy and killed that one T_T now only that one left and the bichirs and the flat discus like silver fish have been getting along nicely lol

yeah haha...for me when i buy the feeder fish i normally quaranteen then for 3 days in salt water bath with a bit of sera omnipur. after that i just rinse in water for a bit then put them into the aquarium where the hunting begins lol...

For me i mostly feed my bichirs earthworms, ghost shrimps, pellets mostly and sometimes dried prawn and market prawn tongue.gif
and the rare sotong too! LoL.

My discus like fish gets all the little flying ant insect thingy's that go fly to the white light and fall into the water ....natural free food rofl

usually bichirs are ninja pro loe haha.....where other fish rely on sight, they rely on smell, so if u dim out the lights enuf u will see the opposite occur lol

otherwise those food left at bottom will easy peasy for them to eat like the sinking pellets....but i'd guess your oscars get it 1st haha

Last time when i was young i watched my cousin having oscars...i never dared to put my hand into the aquarium after seeing how they rip thier preys apart :S

ketapang leaves is very good for most tropical fish...can soften water and lower ph value by creating 'blackwater''....many use for bettas, discus and also arowana
can get from the tree also known as indian almond tree

Hey, just wondering rite....i've seen those somewhere before rofl....know any places around k.l?

where do we find those? o.o

do we crush them before putting into aquarium? and how many do we put :S

i think i've seen them in some of the lfs in the aq's, they kinda make the aq look really natural lol

i cant remember oledy for omnipur...i will need to go back home see if i have the box and check the tag (bought a year ago) use until today! =.= but i'm guessing about rm20 guah...just need to use about 4-5 drops only everytime change water for the quaranteen tank.

The omnipur is not very necessary wan ler...its like...just to be very safe lol

my quaranteen tank i fill about 13L-15L of water....the amt of salt i put in is like 1 large spoon...u know those type of spoon that you use to drink soup with....like those you use when eating prawn mee soup and all....yep just one spoon enuf d wan.

3days 2 nites in the hospital and then fresh meat at night on the 3rd day huhuhu

usually on the day i want to put them into the aq...i will transfer them to a 2nd quaranteen tank to rinse off the meds and salt...while feeding them the bloodworms...nutritious. ^^....then i will put them into the actual aq where my bichirs will eat them and together with the bloodworms hohoho..

partially also cuz it will make them smell like bloodworms....turns on thier bichir appetite
