Bro, let me explain to make it simple.
Gold Aro : MG/XB/RTG/HB
Red Aro : SR/Chili Red/ Blood Red.

So, there is no such thing as HB in red family. HB refers to gold aro.  Hope you can understand the basic. smile.gif

aaaahhh....ok thanks sifu Saif bear-san notworthy.gif

mmm just wondering also, how long does it usually take like a 5-6inch asian aro to reach like 15 inchs? to your experiences...
Anyone gives theirs frogs to eat?

i just re-measured my tank...its like 4ft in length and 1.5ft in width and 1.6ft in height.....
what concerns me most is the width :S i scared cannot turn well lol....but if i buy an arowana about 5-7inch....it will take about 1 year to reach about 12inch which shud be ok i guess @.@ then the growth slows down....and i will have aproximately another year (2 years in total) to get a 5x2x2 or larger tanik rite?

Wud it really be ok? sorry lol

i also planning to keep the gravel in there....1) to make it look nice ( i guess less glare from the light reflection on the ground) 2) for my undergravel filter to continue to be in use (i'm using a eheim 400 filter too no worries lol)

for mine of that size i guess i'll have to remove most of the plants to make space :S

ok lol that shud give me about 1.3 years time to get money to buy a bigger tank guah lol

but would it be ok to keep a 12 inch aro in my current aquarium?

Basically Red aro are all called Super Red. Chili or blood red is just a name to differentiate the two color of super red. Blood has darker red color with dark core scale and chili is more towards to full color red. Before this there a method to differentiate between blood red and chili red based on the tail shape, head shape and other, but now it is hard to find those pure breed characteristics anymore. All mixed up already, so just make it simple by consider it as super red.
I'm not sure about this bro. But price range is from rm35-rm300 depends on size.
*
Saif Sifu notworthy.gif , i not very sure. For Blood red its darker red and the red is on the core of the scale?
and chilli red is like whole pinkish thing? rclxub.gif lol

thanks again Saif biggrin.gif yeah, i might be the newbie now, later there are gonna be others as well, so might as well ask and try to build up our knowledge ma.....hehe

Its always fun to inspire more ppl to join the same interests and hobbies ^^ the more the merrier maaaaaa icon_idea.gif
me also ....comming soon lol

To add to our arowana knowledge base, here as quote from http://www2.wbs.ne.jp/~arowana/efaq.htm
"Q: What is the difference between chili red and blood red?
Q: Are chili red better than blood red?
A: "Chili Red " and "Blood Red " are names for wild arowana. Chili red live in the south area of the Lake Sentarum in Kalimantan. Blood red live in the northern area. A chili red has a "spoon" head, a blood red has a "cannonball" head. A chili red has a diamond shape tail, a blood red has a fan shape tail. A chili red has green skin, a blood red has darker base. Both become red. They are different strains, so it is worth nothing to say which is better.
I should mention again those names are for WILD fish. We can purchase only farmed fish, and they are cross bred ones. It is nonsense to discuss "Is my aro chili or blood?" Only we can purchase are "1st grade red". Of course "Chili red TYPE" or "Blood red TYPE" do exist."

I was just wondering rite...lol...if there was such a possibility....haha...to tatoo the fish LOL....put like Man.U or Ferrari logo hahaha....sorry...stress from work make me love to talk non-sense brows.gif

Saif,....i wana come rob you of your aquarium and superb red horr LOL brows.gif

Nah its ok, i still have the brother ornate here with me tongue.gif

i was just reading about nitrosomonas and nitrobacter haha....i always had that curious itchy mind on these bacteria and how they grow etc....very interesting...if only i was rich enuf to afford the equipment casually to observe the developments of the bacteria hahaha. Its realy a small small world!! shocking.gif

Argh me working hard like hell everyday yawn.gif ....with my sole motivation on getting larger aquarium and a nice arowana icon_rolleyes.gif

I feel i might not have the budget for the 6ft ler...i'd probly stick to 5x2.5
After taking a look at those 6footers i was like...gawd...thats really huge lol my gf say it will be too "kuah-cheong" in my room....
So i gonna get my bigger aq 1st, then my young red aro, and see how things go smile.gif
From viewing saif's vid on his red, it seemed the aq size is good enuf for me d wan tongue.gif when it gets really big only i will progress from there onwards....hopefully it bring me luck in wealth and career advancement then i can give it better and bigger home too hahahahahaha thats called partnership!!! thumbup.gif
