Do read the label of Ramli burger carefully as it may only contain 10% beef and beef parts. The rest 90% are flour, fillers, coloring, flavoring and preservative. The last 2 stuff is what makes it tasty! thumbup.gif

...If really want to taste good burgers in Malaysia. There is none.
Period!

If you really want, then you go to McD and order their qtr pounder cheese, without SALT, that way they have to cook it fresh. You tell the order taker you dun mind waiting, but he must make sure no salt or else you will die!! laugh.gif

When you received it, just ask for a packet of their salt & pepper and sprinkle it yourself.
Eat it immediately and feel the juice oozing out!
If the patty or cheese looks dry or harden it means it is sitting too long already.

After the Jack-in-Box's E. coli Outbreak, reputable international chains dun serve medium rare burger.

MOS burger was good but not anymore! I use eat them without fail whenever I'm in KL before they were close. The ones in Sinkapo or Bangkok also not good that I dun bother checking if they have improve.

Added on June 8, 2010, 8:16 pmToday I bought a pack of Darabif 4 pieces at 100 gm per pattie from Tesco. It taste horrible. I guess as much before I even cooked it as it wasn't the right color and shows signs of thaw and refrozen. sad.gif

Serve me right for being lazy, I should have bought freshly mince beef and make my own burger patty. Which reminds me if you love medium rare burger and have a meat mincer at home, you can make your very own medium rare burger. Just remember to cook and consume the burger within 4 hours!

There are a lot. Prime, Maredo, Jake's, Gaucho Grill, Daily Grind etc etc make a great burgers (From normal 100gm to 250gm patty and from Australian beef to Wagyu). Your assumptions are too nasty, for me.

P/s : You haven't answer my question above.
*
Thank you Putraskyline.

haha..u just pass my test. U know what i been really finding the best answer and i think you just gave them all because there are too many rojak giving assumptions of their good burgers and the thread is getting longer without a good answer. So i provoke by usng nasty questions to bring the best out.

U know we been getting alll best burgers from Mac D, Ramli, Mos, wendys all the franchise chain fast food burgers in this crap . don't you think the best burgers above worth mentioning.

If not how malaysian are gonna take out some dough and see the world in other restaurant chain and test them out. Just like going to overseas alone instead of waiting for kawan-kawan , shy to go... this is my point.

dont just say Ramli the best ok.... see the world first before making malaysian product the best... it will be the best one day but not now.

Thanks Bro. u got my vote. u know what im talking. I don't like to be nasty but if u know what i trying to say is that we sell too much advertisement for Ramli Burgers. the real burgers even the street burgers in south america really beat the shit out of them anytime with their own salsa sauce or avocado cream. yummy. their burgers are full of natural fats ... oh man !!!

Franchise burgers if done by passionate cook , will be great but most of the burger makers at the back don't have passion at all. They are just Robot operators following the simple protocol . Even with the list of procedures stick next to the Grill pan also they Fark it up by not following those protocol when the queue of customers grows.

Speaking of street burger, as usual lah... we are born to appreciate Ramli burger because that's the only cheap burger on the street . there is only one street burger in Esplanade which i think is more on the Middle east style that crumbed with minced meat and spices that i think is the best so far. If everybody still think Ramli is the best, i guess the journey to reaching innovative street burgers like in New York , ecuador, argentina or Mexico will never be at all due to arrogance, ego, pride , kiasu , stubborn , loser etc in this malaysian culture. period!!! Just google the you tube video on burgers and see where u can find some good street burgers

just look at the list of the thread starter...

some of it were even mention as the best burger stalls...

bro & sis,

not trying to offend anyone but just want to raise the par or benchmark. im kiasu and arrogance too . we learn , right. i accepted who i was and my learnining is still below par. most importantly we accept criticism and change or be different .

i raise the bar and ramly burger is still the cheapest burger but not the best one. it's ok for some to say it is the best but u have to guide them to perfection . some of the burger boy can't even cut tomatos and cabbage properly or even cut the burger in half. u see the different when i raise the bar, all these details just cell up in my brain and i warn them not to spoil my burger with kethcup and chili. i go raw with it and no mayo and no bbq sauce or soy sauce.

Esplanade Penang near the old gurney. It's basically minced meat with onion and bombay spices. If you like the burger in murtabak style lah.... I still like the texture of it .

By the way, most pro burgers maker will sprinkle with water on the burger to moist it and toss one time . that's it. no more tari burger style , flip flop until it burn out and even press out the best juices out. damn i hate these burger makers... copycat burger but don't know what makes a GOOD BURGER.

Err..Esplanade Penang is in Esplanade. Gurney is Durney Drive. Both are quite a distance apart.
Speaking of 'no more tari burger style', there was once a Tari Tari burger stall operating along Gurney Drive before they all were corral to the Council Food Court. However, the owner didn't follow and open up his own shop called Tari Cafe, which was unfortunate. See the Wiki on Tari Burger... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penang_cuisine

Offensive or not, its plain truth that burgers made from Ramli patties are not "proper" burgers. In fact, all burgers made from frozen supermarket patties aren't proper burgers. A real burger is made from mince, not from 10 or 25% mince & 75% filler.

The Daily Grind (Bangsar Village) burger is decent but way overpriced for what you're getting.

For an equally good burger at half the price, try Las Vacas in Kelana Jaya. Their beef & lamb burgers are priced from RM15 to RM35(?) depending on the size of the patty (100mg to 1/2 kg?).

Haha.....I'm burger lover, so I will get upset someone claim none of the burger in Malaysia is best. brows.gif The best for me still Wagyu 200gm Burger from Prime but the price are high, so cannot eat regularly. And I don't like to buy M'sia street burger because I cant taste the beef there. The best patty in supermarket so far was from either Pride brand or Cold Storage, thats all my preference.

You said overpriced comparing with? I don't say Daily Grind are overpriced since they produce nice burger with affordable tag. Rm26 for 200gm beef patty are not bad for me. Far better than those Carls Jr or Wendy that comes to RM20++.

Don't forget the charges & taxes. With all the add ons, RM26 will transform to something closer to MR35.

To be fair, most burgers in Malaysia are not very good. One reason being that most restaurants cannot add bacon to the burger.

Of course they cant simply add bacon to the burger, else I will not go. If beef bacon, then should be okay for me. You have to consider other religion as well because this is not the states. Its personal affordability, to me the burger are worth.

Sorry bro, i don't want to insult your intelligent . so i apologize first . Ramli burgers patties is a frozen food patties and i feel they are not even close to real burger patties handmade and cook freshly.
Because we are use to copycat in malaysia, we cannot see the difference of the good and bad one. People even mistaken original one with imitation one because of the same but in actual its not.

I still give Carls and MOS the credit if u have tasted the original one.

Some of this chain in other countris modified the taste and you probably don't like the taste. I tasted some burgers in China MAc D and their taste so different than ours. our mac chicken is frozen patties but they use cut chicken meat grill it over with charcoal and marinade with teriyaki sauce. If first time eat there sure think MAC Donald is like that..I asked to confirm they said this is the one ...

Anyway, if u still want to prove that Ramli is good , susah lah...u r stuck man....
U r stuck because u stop where it is. I would suggest we as consumer pay more for Premium Beef Patties and get the quality RAMLY PREMIUM BURGER ...

Because of the cheapskate mentality , we are stuck with low ingredients for low IQ in food connosuier.
So all the Food Franchise gives us the budget we are in. We are bloody cheapskates settling for low quality food. We won't raise above the level.
Burger Stall makers just good in presentation of the food like making the egg melt or cheese melt and we buy that... pooh!! shit food!!

First Pride brand belongs to MacFood who is ALSO the sole manufacturer/distributor for McD 100% beef patty.

Chillis add bacon to the burger, it is beef bacon. It is just too bad they dun have good quality control to sustain their burger.

Haha no hard feeling..too many arguement in all food threads.. There was once big war in the fine dining thread till I have to slowly delete all those funy postings...

As I said..taste is very personal, so if u said Carl's & MOS is good, I have to respect you. But so far in Malaysia, my best still Ramly...ehhh I even can tell that it's abit better than the Ninja Joe burger that got hig rating...well personal taste mah...You probably right that diff countries having diff quality of burger. They McD I tried at Shenzhen, Bangkok & even Malaysia is so horrible...but the one in Taipei so nicely done.. biggrin.gif So do the MOS in Taipei..no biz wan compare to McD...& after tasted it now I know why..

Carl's Jr in M'sia got high rating from forumers here & so do Wendy but I just can't finish it!! sad.gif So for me it's rather a personal taste. Dun take taste bud so serius-lah...A good restaurant for 1 guy can be bad for another...

I remembered there are few food threads here as well...all having diff preferences wan... I once recommended Anggrek Kuring in Puchong to my buddy and they puked after eating the fried ikan Lele which for me is so perfectly done...well u see..diff ppl diff taste bud.. biggrin.gif Cheers lah.. rclxms.gif

So all the Food Franchise gives us the budget we are in. We are bloody cheapskates settling for low quality food. We won't raise above the level.
Burger Stall makers just good in presentation of the food like making the egg melt or cheese melt and we buy that... pooh!! shit food!!

No doubt you feel strongly about burgers, but i think you may have gone overboard here.

Cheap food does not equate to lesser quality food. Those who choose to eat cheaper food does not equate to low IQ in food "connosuier". Don't use a word if you can't spell it bro. Shows your level of intelligence.

As much as i prefer expensive, luxury food, i'm pretty sure i speak for most of us when i say there are many more times where i know i can pick up a simple delicious burger to satisfy my hunger cravings near my house at night. In terms of freshness and quality of ingredients, no doubt it doesn't compare to your 'premium beef patties'.

Some people choose value for their money in eating their food. No doubt a RM 7 slice of cheese might taste better than RM0.70 Kraft's cheese slice, but food isn't just about individual ingredients, its also about chemistry of the ingredients. Give a top hotel chef all the 'cheapskate' ingredients of a ramly burger and he can still make it delicious beyond chilli's burgers.

I respect your opinion, but bear in mind that this thread isn't for the best burger in the world, but good burgers covering the whole price-range spectrum, so there is no need to belittle others who prefer a quick fix burger.

Always remember that preference in food is an acquired taste. One man's meat is another's poison. So share your info on quality burgers without belittling others.
