since we are on NR query, wanna ask on and off will affect pic by alot??
*
Why don't you try to shoot a pic with NR on and NR off? U will learn more when u try it yourself smile.gif

Quick Answer from a NOOB:
Apparently High ISO NR in our camera will make your picture softer.

While for the Long Exp NR, I think not much different on the pic sharpness,
Long Exp NR is actually a mathematics haha, it work by capturing another dark image (with shutter closed) at the the same shutter speed with ur exposure, and deduct it from the pic..

10sec A (info + noise) - 10sec B ( noise) = C (info)

btw, when u use long exposure, u dont really use iso800 for it rite? usually u should just use iso100 or 200 to prevent it from grabbing noise. so u can just turn off the LE NR. it is totally no use since iso100-200 has low noise count anyway.

For me.. i turn off both NR..
If u pixel peep carefully, hotpixel do happen on the A200-A350 series in a long shutter exposure. There will be some white pixel even thou ISO 100 is used.
No problem on A700, as the cam will do pixel mapping every month..

Your camera will put a blue color cast on the photo. So your tungsten color environment will be corrected to white. This will be recorded in the JPG pic and the setting will also be recorded on the RAW file.

If u open the RAW file using SONY IDC, u will see a pic with the same color as your JPG file.
if u open the RAW file using some 3rd party software like Google PICASA , they actually dump all the in camera process setting on the photo and show you the raw image from your sensor. Thus the environment will still have a tungsten color cast. u still can correct the WB using the software without affecting your image.

goldfries: Specifically if it is 3-series or higher Canon calls it a professional body.

jimlim007: The camera does not set itself to spot center - you do.

Killabee88: Love #3! Make it big!

ieR: Anyone could get that kind of crispiness out of camera from Killabee88's shot. You just need good light.

Hinika: Looks like you were bouncing off a wall that was not pure white. Set your WB to tungsten, or set it in Kelvins to be exact. #3 would be cooler if she looked at you. But hey, well done on #1!

cjlai: I support you in your quest for the Macro G!

SHOfrE3zE: LOL at Singapore's version of Luge! Strangely it looks very fun. Malaysia's street luge is far more dangerous and Singapore's is too safe!

lehtung: Yummy!

hkhk: All Alphas do the monthly pixel mapping thing.

aureliux: Cute! Now get one with a closeup of the face.

whats the monthly pixel mapping thingy about??lol..been using it 1year but never notice anything =x

anyway..i turn off all NR in my cameras..since i almost PP(be it small or big) every shot..i prefer to remove the noise myself as i have the control where to keep the detail n where to remove the noise(make it softer)..but maybe during my off days i would do a small test to see whether the camera does a better job than me..

I am going to argue for this again.. A100 maybe have pixel mapping, but for sure A200/A300/A350 don have pixel mapping. Dont know about A230/A330/A380 or A500/A550. The hot pixel stay at the same location and never change. While for the A700. I do notice that the hot pixel being removed after some time.

So SONY actually remove some thing from A100 and make a cheaper model of A200.
