so, no issue with 3.1.3? i was hesitating to install latest version..wanted to JB my phone last night...guess im going to pull my horses and try our the 3.1.3 first

just got it from pyramid 1st feb...its the new bootroom...but i got another set today because my phone is giving me pop up message saying that the accessory is not made for the iphone and was advise to turn on the aeroplane mode every 2-3minutes. so i google it and seek advise from bro asus cause i bought it from him and its brand new and seal ....sooner i found out that it might be the hardware problem so i went straight to maxis pyramid and waited for a bloody 2 1/2 hours just to be called upon my number
the so called technician listen to my complaints in a very blurrr look on his face he left me and came back in less than 5 minutes and said that this will be a direct replacement ....no questions or whatsoever.. the phone still seal and i assume it wil be the new bootroom though but can someone pls tell me how to differentiate the new and old bootroom?

To check iBoot Rom Version on Windows
1. Put your phone into DFU mode (hold power/home till it shuts down and release power when display goes off/continue holding home till you hear a sound on your computer)
2. device manager > universal serial bus controllers > apple mobile device
3. Right click on this and go to properties
4. Click details tab and should be in one of the fields below (change the drop down box till you find iBoot information).

On a Mac:
Put the iPhone in DFU mode then navigate to "About this Mac". From there go to "More Info...", and select USB on the list on the left. Under the USB menu you can select "Apple Mobile Device (DFU Mode)" and that will bring up information about the iPhone. About half way down it will have the iBoot information: It will either be [iBoot-359.3] or [iBoot-359.3.2] (the 359.3.2 is the new currently unjailbreakable one). To get it out of DFU mode just hold both the home and power button until it powers back on.

Hope this helps on checking the bootrom.

RedSn0w will ask you if this is a newer (fixed) model iPhone. Newer models of the iPhone 3GS have a fixed bootrom which requires you to connect your device to the computer each time you wish to reboot.

To find your serial number you can follow these instructions. The week number is usually the 4th and 5th digit of the serial number. For example, a serial number beginning with 88926 would be week 26 of 2009. 3GS units made week 45 or later will usually have a fixed bootroom. Before week 40 they usually have the older bootroom. Between weeks 40 and 45 the results vary.

There is no solution for 3.1.3 on newer devices or 05.12.01 There is no untethered jailbreak. I don't know if/when these things will exist....by Geo Hot

dunno wat happened to my jailbreak...suddenly itune detects it as iPhone. and i got no service, keeps saying waiting activation...

anyone experienced this before? im planning to restore the phone though.

i tried restoring my phone by downloading the 3.1.2 firmware from the first page but it can't seem to restore. got error "iphone could not be restored. this device isn't eligible for the requested build". i heard that the new version iphones can't downgrade to whatever version itune sees?

By your questions, I believe you don't exactly know what to do. That being it, I strongly suggest you read up thoroughly or check with someone who really knows; and know precisely what to do before you embark further on your 'adventure' lest you regret later. The iPhone is a totally different gadget.

i have 1 unit Serial no. on xx945 and 1 xx002 which means i have a fix bootrom which is 359.3.2. Can i say anything before week 40 2009 able to JB?

I just updated 1 unit with 3.1.3 no significant improvement yet on the battery life after enable the "push" services. Still under monitoring

Anyone using blackra1n jb'ed factory unlocked 3G or 3Gs & updated to 3.1.3 ? Any effect to the jb ?
I don't dare to update yet.. Any guinea pigs ?

i just got my phone last night and immediately requested cydia to store my ECID. but from the looks of it, i won't be getting it as i think the cut off date was yesterday.

anyways, my phone has been jailbroken and it's working properly now after i went to maxis to change the sim card. i guess i have to be careful from now on as i can't restore and the only way to restore is to go 3.1.3

lets hope they get a jailbreak for 3.1.3 asap.

try this:
download Firmware 3.1.2
hold SHIFT/OPTION (Windows/Mac) then press UPDATE
find firmware 3.1.2 on your computer then update.

i dont know it possible or not.

u can still jb but dun let the juice dry out

afaik, if u need to reboot, please plug into your usb port for the jb again

need to wait for anyone which is on the new bootrom to tell the exact step

if ur fren manage to have his ecid signed before the cut off date, then yea he can restore to 3.1.2 but if he did not do it then unfortunately no,he cant.
