so moral of the story is, never let your batt die or accidentally reboot your phone without your notebook/pc with you?

is blackra1n available for untethered JB? because i read from here and from blackra1n site that it's tethered. i tried on my 3GS and it's tethered JB as well. each time i reboot i need to use blackra1n to boot it.

but then, my friend who is running on 3GS and he said he doesn't have such problem with the tethered JB. he said he is using blackra1n as well. dont know if he is bullshitting me or not.

ahhhh, so not all 3GS uses the new bootrom? okokok, then i'm considered unlucky for having the new bootrom then

my gf's phone also with the new bootrom. now im worried for her that she might accidently reboot her phone or batt run flat

actually it's just a nuisance, but apple did it that way to try to deter us from jailbreaking.

if you read what geohot wrote in his blog. if your phone has been jb-ed, when you run blackra1n again all it does is just boot your device, it doesn't re-jailbreak again. so no worries there.

and yes, itunes will detect your iphone in recovery mode and the only option in itune is to restore it. you can just close itunes, then run blackra1n. kau tim

if you're free just go reboot your phone and see how it goes. you'll see that your phone will be in recovery mode. itune will then prompt you that, and says that you need to restore. you can then either:

1. restore it if you're planning on sending your phone back to maxis for RMA or warranty related.
2. close itune and just run blackra1n to make it rain again

tethered jailbreak only happens on the iPhone 3GS which cmoes with the new bootrom. if you're lucky and you have the iPhone 3GS which uses the older bootrom, then when you run blackra1n, it will be an un-tethered jailbreak.

the problem is not on the jailbreak application but on the phone's bootrom.

now im scared when my phone is available around middle of february will be shipped with 3.1.3 :\

yeah, but no problems. because i just called maxis and they said pyramid has plenty of stocks for 16GB 3GS. so i'm canceling my order at TTDI and heading over to pyramid tonight. woohoooo.....i hope that the bootrom is the old one as well

dunno wat happened to my jailbreak...suddenly itune detects it as iPhone. and i got no service, keeps saying waiting activation...

anyone experienced this before? im planning to restore the phone though.

anyways, i just called maxis and apparently, it's their problem not my phone problem. sigh, i was like troubleshooting whole morning. i even tried to install blacksn0w on my unlocked phone. will it cause any problems by installing blacksn0w on an already official unlocked phone?

i tried restoring my phone by downloading the 3.1.2 firmware from the first page but it can't seem to restore. got error "iphone could not be restored. this device isn't eligible for the requested build". i heard that the new version iphones can't downgrade to whatever version itune sees?

it's ok......i read up already and fully understand whats going on now. sorry for my ignorance as i was posting my question at the wee hours of the morning.

anyways, i think i'm abit unlucky as Apple has already stop allowing signing to be done for 3.1.2

i just got my phone last night and immediately requested cydia to store my ECID. but from the looks of it, i won't be getting it as i think the cut off date was yesterday.

anyways, my phone has been jailbroken and it's working properly now after i went to maxis to change the sim card. i guess i have to be careful from now on as i can't restore and the only way to restore is to go 3.1.3

lets hope they get a jailbreak for 3.1.3 asap.

if ur fren manage to have his ecid signed before the cut off date, then yea he can restore to 3.1.2 but if he did not do it then unfortunately no,he cant.

the day that i feared has finally came. i had to restore my phone due to it not being able to boot up, and i can't get my ECID signed by Saurik.

looks like i have to restore to 3.1.3

all my lockinfo etc etc gone......grrrrrr

the day 3.1.3 was officially launched, apple stop signing the ECID's for 3.1.2

in order to restore back to 3.1.2, you need to have your ECID signed by apple, then you'll use umbrella to host a TSS server to intercept iTunes connection so that they will lookup your SHSH file locally. or you can also cahnge your host file to point to cydia so that iTunes can verify the SHSH against Cydia's copy of your ECID. Then only can you restore back to 3.1.2

on 3/2/2010 was the cut off date tolet Saurik help you sign it. so unless you have previously let cydia hold a copy of your SHSH file, else there's no way that you can restore your phone to 3.1.2

i was rather unlucky as i got my phone on the day 3/2/2010 around 10pm. i rushed home to jb and sent in a request for Saurik to sign my ECID. unfortunately, i couldn't make it. hence i have to be careful and not screw up my phone now else i'll have to go 3.1.3

im sure if you search on google there's alot of guides on how to cleanup ikee virus. try that first instead of restoring right away.

and make sure to change your default password of alpine to something else.

have you let Saurik store your ECID and signed it with Apple prior to the cut off date? if no, then don't bother cause you won't be able to restore to 3.1.2

if yes, then yes you can follow the steps and it shud work fine.

good, means previously when your jailbreak, you clicked on "Make my life easy" in cydia

yes, lucky you...with the SHSH on cydia. you can restore back to 3.1.2

but i'm not sure if you already upgraded to 3.1.3, can you still click shift+restore to choose the 3.1.2 firmware. maybe those who tried can let us know.

poor me, mine in cydia still says pending request

meaning once u update to 3.1.3, you can't click Shift+Restore right? thats what i heard as well.

i doubt he can even move to 3.1.2 because Apple has already stop allowed signing of 3.1.2

i guess you'll have to stick with 3.1 if you wanna jailbreak and pray that your phone does not need to restore.
