if you have a officially unlock 3gs, no harm trying.

oh, officially unlock meaning not tied to any maxis contract and shit right. like the maxis "prepaid" plan? if anything goes wrong just restore? lol.

officially unlock means phones that originates from malaysia, singapore, hong kong, new zealand and as such which provide officially unlock phones.
if it fails just restore then, no harm done.

locked phones are from US and UK namely.

I just dload the firmware 3.1.2. I need to restore mine as its running in 3.1.3. Can this be done.?

y i used the blackra1n to jailbreak.. when i reboot i need the blackra1n to restore.. is that normal ?

That's normal. It's called Tethered JB. Google it and you will find out...

this one i knew.. but is there any way to tackle the problem? becoz everytime reboot need to tethered JB is really hassle..

this is true. however, there is a blackbreeze fix for it. google it to get it.

There seemed to be a mixed results on this fix by ih8sn0w. There are quite a number of people complaining that the fixed BlackRa1n doesn't work even after using the BlackBreeze

Bro,
if your phone ready get from maxis,mean this was simfree set
why you need use (blackra1n to jailbreak)

if you made sure get from maxis and have warranty card (comfrim maxis set)

put your card inside phone ,use itunes update the phone to the latest ver 3.1.3 and baseband wil go to 5.12

after finish flashing will auto actived ,and phone will not go recovery mode when you repower on

But inportand made sure your phone is come from maxis,not from out side dealer

Can anbody help me. I need to jailbreak my phone. I tried blackrain and nothing happen. Currently am using 3.1.3 firmware and the blackrain only support 3.1.2. My phone is 3g. I have dloaded the 3.1.2 firmware.. Can i downgrade it via itunes by doing restore? Pls advice.

oh BTW, is your phone a lock set or unlock set...? if unlock set then u can proceed with the process, but id u have a lock phone, well, it will be an expensive ipod touch for a while.

3GS? just wait for the untethere JB release la.. no point to JB it now.. Everytime reboot will stuck at the apple logo and need to re run the JB process again..

does the itunes 9.1 only affects those ppl which is Tethered JB? so for me i dont have this problem...i can use the 9.1 safely? i need to update my itunes after i have reformat my pc, my old install is a 8.x

they have some information saying that itunes 9.1 that can affects people using blackrain that provide other solution to fix it..
