Guys, im heading over to Langkawi in 3 weeks with my gal. May i know if RM600 is enough to cover 4 days 3 nights' living expenses? I had my flight and hotel booked and paid for in advance.

Oh, and how much is the car rental rates now?

biggrin.gif If you have a motorcycle license, you can rent a motorcycle and enjoy the wind as they say. Cheaper too! 3 nights is possible if you lodge in cheaper hotels like the private lodging house that I have mentioned in the earlier threads. Though it is cheap, it is comfortable with air cond and hot shower.

I rent a car from 17-21 June (4 days). First, I book a manual Kelisa. But when I arrive in Langkawi, they don't have Kelisa, so they give me auto Viva (Elite edition 1.0 and full spec). Only RM240.

Hi guys,

Been to Langkawi last month, here was my experience:

We arrived @ Langkawi airport (via AirAsia) around 12.30 noon. After picking up our luggage, we headed to car rental booth (just few feet from the luggage area). Those operators were shouting to get you to their booth. I just went to the nearest booth. The guy showed me the list of cars they have. Finally we went for a normal Viva for RM140 for 3 days. Car was clean and well maintained, not bad.

GPS is definitely a useful tool to navigate within langkawi. Got those GarminXT software on my nokia and it’s helped us to find ways to our hotel. We stayed in Berjaya Langkawi Resort. It took about 30-45 mins from airport to Burau Bay where Berjaya is located on. The resort is a little bit far into the forest, so I recommend to rent a car to move around. Once arrived at Berjaya, we parked the car and walk to the lobby area. The resort gives a bit nostalgic feeling, mainly because of the decorations is a bit old fashioned. There was no air-cond in the lobby area, and it was sooo hot. Check-in took a bit longer than I expected.

The resort area is vast. You need a shuttle service to get around. There is a mini 'open-air' shuttle bus for you to hop on. You just need to dial the operator from your room and a shuttle will be dispatched. Based on our stay, they are pretty efficient and right on time, more efficient than KL public busses though.

If you like nature, you gonna love this resort. The rooms surrounded by trees and jungles. Lots of 'locals' hovering around the resort. Locals I mean monkeys smile.gif

It took about 3 mins shuttle ride from lobby to our Deluxe Chalet. Room was okay, but little bit old. A renovation will do better. We got our own balcony with sea view, which is pretty breathtaking.

After settling in, we head straight to Mat Chincang Mountain to get our cable car ride. I must say this cable car ride is truly mesmerizing. A must do if you're in Langkawi.

After cable car ride, we drove to Tanjung Rhu. Beach was okay. Totally private area. Had a chance to hangout @ Tanjung Rhu resort, damn nice place smile.gif

After Tanjung Rhu, we headed to Kuah Town to get some dinner. There was a night market (pasar malam) in the town. So we bought some foods and headed back to our hotel.

Next morning we headed straight to Kuah Jetty to catch some island hopping package. We've got RM60 (per person) for island hopping package to Pulau Beras Basah, Eagle feeding and Pulau Dayang Bunting. Trip took around 5 hours.

After the island hopping trip, we headed straight to our hotel. On the way back we stop by at Telaga Harbour. There is a lot of luxury yatch over here. Kok beach is just beside the harbour. View was nice.

We finished our afternoon at Berjaya's beach. Quite private beach I must say. Sea can get bluey but not so clear. Sand is white. There's a lot of beach activates available (parasailing, canoe, jet ski and so on), their prices displayed on the board at the boat house.

We had our dinner @ Pahn Thai Restaurant (one of Berjaya's restaurant in the hotel). At first we a bit sceptical but it turned out to be fantastic. The restaurant is located directly above the sea, totally romantic atmosphere. If you dine at night, you'll probably dine under bright moonlight, which is mesmerizing. We're so lucky to get to dine under this perfect moonlight. Accompanying with 2 gentlemen playing soothing guitar plus sea waves lightly sounded as background, making your dining with significant other memorable. Food was superb, authentic Thai culinary experience. Food quality is top class. Price is acceptable. We ordered grilled squid for starters, Tom-yam Goong, Garupa fish with Sweet Sour Sauce, Kailan Vege, all for RM195. Staffs were friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant. A must go if you're in Langkawi, even if you not staying in Berjaya.

The next morning we hang out again at the beach. Checked out @ 12 noon and headed straight to Chenang beach for lunch. Chenang beach was busy and lots of tourist. Lots of cafe and bars.

After lunch we head straight to Kuah town for some shopping. There's a lot of shop to get your shopping done. We went to Pasaraya One Stop. Hershey's kisses chocolate ranging from RM9.90 - 12.90 (different flavours), Daim Chocolate (bag) @ RM16.90 and Jack Daniel Chocolate @ RM12.00

Then at 3.00pm we board our flight and headed KL.

Not bad holiday experience in Langkawi. Will return, but not soon tongue.gif next will be phuket biggrin.gif

@Putraskyline

They have this Advance booking rate which enables you to enjoy 25% discount off displayed rate, but have to book 3 months in advance. I booked with this scheme and received RM330 per night for Deluxe Chalet.

Wow...Not bad. What I hate about Berjaya Langkawi is the time waiting for the tram, to get your car or to go lobby for pool and beach. How about their service nowadays?
