travel alot to langkawi for the pass few years working at alor setar
i would recommend u the best budget motel at pantai cenang
Malibest motel and sandy beach motel
Both hotel are better than most of the budget motel
plus white sandy beach, its different from other motel (its different, u ll know it when u feel it)
they offer some big family rooms which can stuck in alot of people (depends on what comfort level u want )
Right in the middle of pantai cenang, all the activities is there.
get more beers and liquor and drink till u drop and sleep on the beach haha

i m going there on july too with my wife but this time i want 5 star hotel rclxm9.gif

Anyone have information on independent hiking in Langkawi? Without guides or anything; just one guy hiking. I would like to know where to start the hike, how is the trails like etc.

Thanks in advance.

I tried to look for info online but was unable to find any.

Its private beach, mostly people stay there only can enjoy those beach. But I think Pantai Pasir Hitam, near Andaman are for public.

Yes you can fool them but about 10-12 staff stand in front of the resort and some more occupancy rate at least during my stay very low around 20-30%. If unlucky, they will ask you "where you going" biggrin.gif

There's not much hiking trails in Langkawi but there is one up to Gunung Raya (highest peak in Langkawi). It is actually steps up there made in concrete totalling more than 4000 steps. But natural atmosphere is nice though walking under the trees and Hornbills can be spotted flying there. Lots of tongkat Ali trees too. The steps starts from the waterfalls at the Book village near Panaroma Hotel in Jalan Ulu Melaka.

Other trail that I know is up Gunung Matcincang where the cable car is. I think the trail was made during the construction of the cable car.

Guys, im heading over to Langkawi in 3 weeks with my gal. May i know if RM600 is enough to cover 4 days 3 nights' living expenses? I had my flight and hotel booked and paid for in advance.

Oh, and how much is the car rental rates now?

All right! Thanks a bunch, those are probably the info I needed. Whatever else I need to know I'll just go there and learn on the fly. I'm leaving to Langkawi in 1 hour time for 4 days and 3 nights. Read most of you guys' recommendation, I think I'll have a blast thanks to you all. Thanks once again!
