Lanai was formerlly called Federal Lodge (if I am not mistaken).At that time it was managed by Holiday Villa (just side by side) and maybe they have found their own management team to handle the operations, hence the name change. It's quite a good resort, nice beach front and can just hop over to Holiday Villa and use their pool if the Lanai's is not nice ,LOL. Remember Jackie Chan's 'Police Story 3' where there's a scene Maggie Cheung and Samantha Schubert was pushed into the pool. That is Holiday Villa's pool.

lets say from south wanna drive to langkawi ,,

go into PLUS then head North and exit Alor Star Selatan rite ?
then follow sign board to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis ( which 1 nearer? )
then lets say is Kuala Kedah ... when reach jetty car park around there ? how much have to pay for 3 days parking ?

My friends and I planning to go langkawi on the 4th january. Is it peak season?

lets say i reach langkawi and have lunch there around jetty ..
then around 1pm i rent car ...
so my trip is 3 days 2 nights that is from 10th to 12th january ..
so when i rent car is it suppose to be 2 days or 3 days rental ?

sunday 1pm to tuesday around 1pm(mayb extend 1 or 2 hours la).. thx
budget RM50 duno can get wat car .. its not peak season rite ? only for 2 person

average price seafood along pantai cenang malay 1 how much ar ? lets say for 2person ..
eat seafood RM40 enough for 2 ?

hi guys, need a little help here,
im planning to go for a backpacking with my friends in langkawi..
will be going in between 15-20 jan, so its an off-peak period, as school holidays just ended.
We expected the trip to be about 3 days 2 night, or maybe 2 days 1 night depends on budget,
estimated joining friends is about 10-15 people, so an apartment or cheap chalet or maybe dorm would be good enough, if its a chalet, we dont mind to just fit in all 10 even if the chalet only meant for 5 person, LOL, all male here, so comfy or not is not an issue,
will be leaving from ipoh by train, and stop in kuala kedah.

so a few questions if i may,
need a roughly estimate from sifus here,
-from kuala kedah to jetty, is there any transportation? at what range of time and how much?
-cost of ferry to langkawi from kuala kedah jetty?
-van rental cost?
-choice of place to stay and cost?

that might be all, and the estimated cost can even be for a single person or the whole group.

I'm heading to Langkawi 12-15 March (3 nights).

Has anyone stayed at Sunset Beach Resort (Pantai Tengah)? It seems like a very cosy place, but the only room available during that period is Sunset III for RM190/night.

What do you guys think?

By the way, what is the best beach on the island in terms of cleanliness? I read that Tanjung Rhu is the best (white, sandy beach).. but can you get a view of the sun-setting from there? Or would Pantai Cenang or Pantai Kok be a better choice for sunset viewing?
