Maybe the seafood in Langkawi is the same or more expensive than Klang but I am very sure it taste better in Langkawi. I am an angler in Langkawi and I know the prawns there are not 'pukat tarik' prawns and they are 'pukat hanyut' type, meaning the prawns are caught when they are drifting in the sea and not squashed like the trawler nets. And normally they are served the next day it was caught and not like Klang where they are sold to middleman and then reseller and then market and then restaurants which is about 3 to 4 days old.I have never consume any seafood since I am in KL, not fresh like Langkawi. In Langkawi, eats prwans with the least sauce like steamed and the taste of the prawns are nice. In Klang I have tried their steamed prawns and they don't taste fresh and they are good only with heavy tasting sauce which actually overwhelms the taste of prawn itself.
Another tip I can give is eat at restaurants like Orchid where you can choose your seafood. Walk up to their ice bin and choose the fish or prawns. If you see fishes all the same size, don't choose that. They are cultured fish, meaning sangkar ikan fishes. If you see uneven sizes then they are all fish in the sea manually(using pancing) and these taste better.
The ikan bawal putih (pak chong) are also locally netted. Teo Seafood specialises in 'Pek Chneoh Moi' or bawal porridge. Very nice there. He also specialises in 'Hoo Tow Bi Hoon' and normally barracudda is used and not 'soong yee' like in KL. Very nice actually in Teo's Seafood,
