hi moody,
tks..3-4k for 2 person for flight + hotel..airasiago got a number of choice <4k...
ic..then i go change 1st tongue.gif

I think you might just shortlisted a few hotel that you are interested then try to check air tickets prices individually

It is around rm1k for return flight per pax via Cathay pacific.

Another suggestion, have you ever think of going Macau as well? If yes, it would be better for you to put up a night there. So you have to think twice on booking airasiago

Hi, I'm planning to go HK this early December.. any good hotel to be recommended? *Not that too expensive.. budget around 300++ per nite onli..

Is Metropark Causeway Bay Hotel good?
*
I think Metropark causeway bay maybe out of your budget range in December
I stayed at Metropark Wanchai before while it was quite new and clean. Comfort size of room for HK standard and it was around rm300

QUOTE(eksk86 @ Jul 6 2011, 01:28 PM)

Although it's short, i plan to make it count. I have a few questions:

1) I figured that it would leave us with not much time to travel around HK if we were to visit both Disneyland and Ocean Park. So, which one will it be? Or both? Take note, I'm travelling with my family: (parents+4 young adults)
2) Is it possible to squeeze Ocean Park with the peak(late evening till night) on the same day?
3) Any particular place to visit during Mid-Autumn Festival?

*
1) Yes.
2) Yes.

So a little bit of suggestion on your planning
Day 1 Arrival and Check in. Go for late dinner / supper
Day 2 Disneyland (fireworks around 8-8.30) then go to Avenue of Star (Victoria Harbor)
Day 3 Ocean Park then leave Ocean park and go to The Peak around 5p.m or 6p.m
Day 4 any special attraction that you would like to go? If you want to catch the Symphony of Lights at Avenue of star, you got to be there at 6.30p.m to secure a nice viewing spot
Day 5 check out early then go to Macau (the ferry takes around 1 hour time) then you can hop on the bus to Venetian Resorts and deposit your luggage with them (free of charge)so that you all can walk around without bring those luggage!

If I were to visit Ocean Park and The Peak on the same day, would there be enough time for us to cover most of the attractions/rides in Ocean Park?

So in your opinion, it's more worth spending 2 out of the 3 days on parks rather than going around HK?
*
It is up to you and your group whether you all prefer to spend your time in theme park or going around HK.
If you all want to do a lot of shopping then you got to cut one of the theme park.

Ocean Park and The Peak on the same day, would there be enough time for us to cover most of the attractions/rides in Ocean Park?

Attraction - Yes and some of the rides (wonder will you Q for the rides or not as it might be very long Q)

QUOTE(kookaaq @ Jul 11 2011, 11:42 AM)
Hi guys,

I will be travelling to Hong Kong & Macau this October 26/10 to 31/10. My flight will be arriving at Macau International AIrport at 6.10pm on Thursday. My planning is to take ferry straight to Hong Kong and check in at hotel around Mongkok area.

My question is whether I will be reaching HK too late for my hotel? I expect to take 7.00pm ferry from Taipa Ferry Terminal to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal (Sheung Wan) arriving at 8.00pm. From Sheung Wan, will take Star Ferry from Central Star Pier to TST StarPier and check in at hostel. Expect to reach my hotel around 9.30pm??

For those experts here, can you advise on my itinerary??

Day 1 (Wed) - Singapore-Macau-Hong Kong-TST Hotel. Eat and rest!

Day 2 (Thu) - Oceanpark, The Peak & Madame Tussade Museum

Day 3 (Fri) - Lantau Island, Ngoping 360, Citygate, Mongkok Pasar Malam

Day 4 (Sat) - Wander around HK Island. Shopping, Eating, SIghtseeing. Prefer to use the Open Top Bus Tour to cover most places on the island.

Day 5 (Sun) - Wander around TST and Kowloon. Afternoon checkout hotel and take ferry back to Macau. Check in hotel in Macau. Sightseeing in Macau.

Day 6 (Mon) - Sightseeing Macau. 6.00pm flight back to Singapore.
I am from JB and travelling from Changi Airport is always cheaper compared to going to KL unless if i get a good bargain from AA flight promo. I hope to get more input from everyone who has experience HK so that i can have a great and safe journey.

Not planning to go to Disneyland as will be making a trip to Tokyo Disneyland next February.

Thank you.
*
You plan is ok.

Re-hotel part, you have to inform your hotel on your late check in and you should take First Ferry which arrive to the port that is nearer to TST.

Hi Moody5,

Thanks for your reply. I didnt know about first ferry and this is a better ferry as the terminal is so much nearer to TST.

Btw, how far is Macau airport to Macau Ferry Terminal?? Initially planning is to Taipa Ferry terminal because it is so near to Macau airport. But I think Macau is relatively small and a taxi ride to the Ferry Terminal should not cost too much i guess.

Thanks!!
*
The taxi ride was around HKD 50 per way

If you want to save some money, you can try to take free shuttle bus of those casinos but it is time consuming.

Came back 2 days ago from Hong Kong and Macau. Weather was really hot. 33 degree there is different from ours here in Malaysia. No clouds there . Was really really hot.

Was in Ocean Park 1 day. Sweat non stop. Really dehydrate and got the feeling of fainting.

Other than that , everything went smooth. Took Cotaistrip to Macau. July birthday people get special promo. Around HKD180 RETURN . I bought 2 tix for my fren and i and both of us got the promo . So we save about HKD130 per person.

Cotai Strip ferry is almost the same as Turbojet. Comfortable seat and cheaper than Turbojet as from 1 July , Turbojet increase their fare.

rclxms.gif i think you pick to go on summer due to its summer sales, right?

and I think your friend would have thought you been to Phuket rather than HK as you got sun tented!

[quote=honkit,Jul 12 2011, 12:06 AM]Not sure and i dont think so valid for so long. They state there July birthday promo.
No la.. been there last year same date and tot was not that bad. Coincident AK got promo so book the date and went again . This time was super hot. Other friend went a week before us and telling to bring umbrella to prevent rain. This time i brought umbrella to prevent sun!

The sale there was not that good . Only selected stores was doing great promo. Mostly female brand of clothing like Cotton on , H&M etc.
But the Citygate at Tung Chung was good. Manage to get some Nike and Adidas shoe for less than Rm200 where normal price here about Rm300 plus.

ANDDD... going Phuket next febuary also. So i would expect another sun tan!  laugh.gif

biggrin.gif anyway, those Cotton On and H&M is already cheap comparatively even it is without discount!

Hi moody5,

You seems to know a lot about HK. May I know is it ok to skip Aberdeen, Repulse Bay and Stanley Bay? I kept reading people posting abt these places but after searching for sometime throuh the internet, it seems like there is nothing so special about these places. I mean these are beaches and Malaysia has nicer places that these. I am not sure but just my thought.

Thanks.

Your Plan was:
Day 1 (Wed) - Singapore-Macau-Hong Kong-TST Hotel. Eat and rest!

Day 2 (Thu) - Oceanpark, The Peak & Madame Tussade Museum

Day 3 (Fri) - Lantau Island, Ngoping 360, Citygate, Add on - TST Avenue of Start then Proceed to Mongkok Pasar Malam (is this referring to Ladies street those places?)

To answer your question, you got to ask yourself that are you into shopping or not? If yes, most likely you won't have much time to squeeze in Aberdeen, Repulse Bay and Stanley Bay.
So if you got extra time, you can go to Aberdeen, Repulse Bay and Stanley Bay. If not, just give it a miss
biggrin.gif just take them as a backup plan

My friends and I will be heading for a 5D4N trip to HK next Feb. I''m only halfway to this thread and so far i'm overloaded with info.

We're planning to visit Macau as well so some quick questions
- Is it advisable to go for a day trip or to stay one night in Macau?
A night (take note on Macau accommodations, weekend prices are at least 30% more than weekdays)

- Are there affordable yet strategically located accomodations there?
Everyone define 'affordable' differently so i suggest you to state your budget then we can advise you accordingly

- When is the last ferry ride back to HK (say Kowloon) from Macau?
Kindly refer to First Ferry (It arrives at TST)
http://www.nwff.com.hk/eng/fare_table/loca.../?section=Macau

- Should I say a minimum budget of RM2k should be set for accom+food+medium shopping+transportation?
Average flights tickets from KL to HK return flights all in - Airasia non promo Rm750, Cathay Pacific and MAS Rm1100
Accommodation - around rm300 per night per room for twin sharing
Food Prices - averagely HKD40 per meal for a basic one

Thanks.

Excluding airfare, i think RM2k is good enough? planning to stay at hostel which is about less than Rm100 per person.

Thanks.

Yup.

Rm2k for a 5D4N trip to HK
If it isn't during Chinese new years or peak season, you all can stay in decent hotel already biggrin.gif
