Thanks for sharing ppl..

Usually when do you guys start booking the hotels? 1 mth before the trip? or 1 week?
*
depends on which period that you are going to HK
if you are going during Mar-Apr, a lot of exhibition going on in HK so you need to get the cheaper hotel rate around Jan, around 2 months ahead

on my last shopping trip (it was August), i only booked hotel 2 weeks ahead.

Yup.

Btw.. since i'm going for 6D5N, is it advisable to stay in 2 different hotels, i.e. 3 nights at one area and another 2 nights at another area?
*
suggest you to plan your itinerary 1st then decide on where to stay.
HK's public transport is well developed so don't worry much if you stay near to MRT

Anyone here tried having more than two people staying in a hotel double room? For example, if there are 6 of us travelling and I plan to just book 2 double room in a hotel and fit 3 into a room. Is it advisable?
*
Not advisable.

HK hotel room is relatively small and the changes of getting caught (of bringing extra pax) is there.

As far as i know, the cheapest food in HK is actually McD. Carols (tai kah lok) also not bad, they serve big portion. The normal shops, 1 bowl of noodles around HKD30++. Tea is free for whole HK.
*
actually the tea that they serve in those 'Char Can Teng' before your meal is meant for you to wash your chopstick

7 days 6 nights rm2500 still more than enough

average meal price HKD50, if you take 4 meals a day, it will come up to to HKD 1400. Mineral water around 8 HKD for 500 ml.

Are there any food stalls in Disneyland and Ocean Park?  How is the food like, expensive?

If going to Hong Kong, is it worth taking a ferry or flight to Macau?

Is Macau only full with casinos? Can enter casino if age below 18 not?
*
Cheapest food in ocean park is McD, if i didnt remember wrongly, it is around HKD 70, a bit more expensive than outside

If you are rich enough, you can opt to take Helicopter to Macau. Ferry takes around slightly more than an hour and it cost around HKD 160.

Macau is filled with casinos as well as beautiful historical places.

Since the hostels in Hong Kong are so small, do they provide boiling water?

Can we bring kettle to boil water?

Or can get boiled cold water from counter?

Or only can buy mineral water?
*
Dont try to boil the tap water.. it isnt meant for boiling and drinking

Hi guys, first time going to HK and I'll be going in March.
However I have roughly 3days max there, with the 3rd day leaving at around evening via airasia.

Do you guys think it's possible to cover most of the major attractions (eg. Disneyland, the Ngong Ping 360, Big Buddha) with 3days?

I don't really go for shopping, but more towards sight-seeing or eating
*
yes. it is.
