hooked up my 1019 just before cny..my gear includes:

1) VXS1019
2) AC Ryan PlayOn!HD media player (POHD)
3) BDP-LX52 BD Player

i set up the AVR using auto MCACC..but somehow, the front speakers was detected as 'Large' even tho mine is satellite speakers (Mordaunt Short Alumni 8).

i'm not seeing the DTS-MA, True-HD logo appearing at any times, whatever source i play.  even with BD with DTS-MA..why is that?

i'm using 5.1 ch speakers (MS Alumni 8, 5 & 2 as rear) with Velodyne CHT12Q sub...but i'm not 'feeling' the surround...there's sound coming out from the rear speakers (if i put my ears very close to it) but most are coming off the 2 front speakers. what is wrong?

from my BD player & POHD (HDMI 1), i connect using HDMI cable to the AVR, and another HDMI out from AVR to TV.

am a total noob in this...anyone can help out? or anyone willing to help set up/tune my gears physically will also be appreciated..can pm me and we can share details...i really hv no idea how to set the xover of speakers & sub, which i think is the problem why i'm not feeling the surround working...

Congratulation bro and welcome to Pioneer group... thumbup.gif

From my understanding...
MCACC will detect the speaker as LARGE if your crossover speaker respond below 60Hz...check your speaker spec...

"i'm not seeing the DTS-MA, True-HD logo appearing at any times, whatever source i play. even with BD with DTS-MA..why is that?"

something wrong with your BD player setting, pls check your digital audio setting...
if i'm not wrong you cannot ON the BD player and another source at the same time .. hmm.gif
this is for connection using HDMI cable only...

You are testing DTS-MA / True-HD from your Blu-ray player or POHD ? If POHD, don't waste your time, it doesn't support either of the two HD Audio format.

Your surround is soft sometimes due to the movie itself is soft. Try out the test tone, if the surrounds are loud using the test tones, then the problem is the sound from the disc.

i tested them with blu ray disc (originals)...few different titles with different audio formats..and last night, i played the Spears & Munsil calibration blu ray disc...in there, there's a couple of demo clip you can use...one of them being testing of DTS-MA & True-HD audio...played the demo clip, and am very sure, i'm only getting the 'surround' from my front speakers...really dunno what's wrong..

i enter the MCACC setup menu last night, changed the two front speakers to 'small' but same problem still. for sound level, the AVR used the front Left speaker as bench mark and it was set at 0db. what should the other speakers be set at??

speaker Freq Response is 49Hz-20kHz. what is crossover? how to set? rclxub.gif

i usually switched everything else off (POHD & Astro) if i'm using the BD Player..likewise, if i'm using POHD, i'll switch the others i'm not watching off.

can someone tell me how to switch off the UPMIX feature? followed the instruction on the manual, but cant seem to get into the setup mode as indicated. "hold down ENTER on front of panel, press STANDBY/ON" this doesn't work for me. the STANDBY/ON button refers to the button on the remote or the AVR panel itself? i tried both...holding down ENTER on front of panel & press STANDBY/ON on panel - nothing happens. hold down ENTER & press STANDBY/ON on remote - switches the AVR off.

anyways, CT Seong coming over to help me with the set up maybe tomorrow...hopefully can rectify before i watch 2012 & Dark Night smile.gif

Bro... i'm not sure about LX81 but my LX82 only 6ohm to 16ohm (guaranteed speaker impedance)
there is no option to turn it manually...

Yes...49Hz-20Kh MCACC will set your speakers as Large...about crossover setting
batter you set 80Hz(THX setting) if below than that freq it will send to your sub...

for other setting hope CT Seong can help you

If you are using your blu-ray player, have you set up the player to do bitstream? Also during calibration of your pioneer did you hear all the speakers during MCACC?

If too complicated for you better wait fot CT Seong.

Then, it can't drive 4ohm speakers since 82 replaces 81. Tks a lot.

Speakers setting...for me i like to set all speakers to Small coz it will give you clear/detail sound
and for low freq all come from your sub...
setting as small is does't mean your speakers cannot received low freq only freq lower than 60Hz will send to sub
you can still enjoy low freq from all you speakers.... biggrin.gif

Bro you no need to worried because MCACC will help u to calculate all you speaker sttg and
room EQ...MCACC is the best la bro... thumbup.gif
you only need to fine tune you speakers...especially for center (just up 3 db if you like) and your sub...

Sub setting you need to study a bit because it depend on you sub and the way you connected ...
may be you another otai can help you on this...

bro..you need to try/study by your self , try and try until you understand how to used all setting inside your amp...

remember MCACC will help you just press start button...

seong came over on thursday and worked his magic smile.gif something was wrong with thr setting on the bd player..all these while i only tried to mingled with the avr..but all working well now hahahha...for first time hearing surround on my speakers..

btw..according to seong, if u dun hv a dedicated av room like me cos i'm using the living hall..mcacc will not be too accurate..it needs to be a square boxed up room..tat's what i was told..all speakers set to small now, xover at 80hz..but distance was determined by mcacc..everything else set manually..

Will play 2012 tonight hhahahaha

Sound advise but sometimes it's hard to grasp as it is not clearly mentioned in the manual sweat.gif

guys, from my understanding MCACC will calculate capability our speaker enentho we turn to 0db
our speakers still ok..i mean never cutoff AVR power...

but i never turn to 0db... -25 to -20 enough for me..... tongue.gif
