aiya me at island. Saw 818 package with pioneer speaker set brown wood color selling at rm1799 at jusco. Display set. Worth? No hdmi input rite?

yes. u can get rm1.6K for 819from eng hifi BM or senq selling 819 for rm1899

does it come with a sub?

rm1899 is the AVR alone only or whole set? last time i check is Rm3k+

Pioneer VSX-818 does have HDMI input and output but only support HDMI switching (correct me if I'm wrong). I believe the brown wood colour speaker your seeing is also Pioneer speaker S-MS800 and normally the sub paired togather is S-RS3SW.

Why not you get yourself a newer version of 818, which is VSX-819? The complete set with VSX-819 + 5.1 speaker system only cost RM2.9-3k All Pioneer brand and I'm using now actually

Thing is, if you want a good deal from him, call him up first to check what he has...then only go there to meet him and get the stuff.

If you go there suddenly, he might not be at his shop or Pioneer doesn't have any stocks left of the model you want.

budget is the main constrain here dude..

hooked up my 1019 just before cny..my gear includes:

1) VXS1019
2) AC Ryan PlayOn!HD media player (POHD)
3) BDP-LX52 BD Player

i set up the AVR using auto MCACC..but somehow, the front speakers was detected as 'Large' even tho mine is satellite speakers (Mordaunt Short Alumni 8).

i'm not seeing the DTS-MA, True-HD logo appearing at any times, whatever source i play. even with BD with DTS-MA..why is that?

i'm using 5.1 ch speakers (MS Alumni 8, 5 & 2 as rear) with Velodyne CHT12Q sub...but i'm not 'feeling' the surround...there's sound coming out from the rear speakers (if i put my ears very close to it) but most are coming off the 2 front speakers. what is wrong?

from my BD player & POHD (HDMI 1), i connect using HDMI cable to the AVR, and another HDMI out from AVR to TV.

am a total noob in this...anyone can help out? or anyone willing to help set up/tune my gears physically will also be appreciated..can pm me and we can share details...i really hv no idea how to set the xover of speakers & sub, which i think is the problem why i'm not feeling the surround working...

Well well.. as for me, in the begining oso i cant hardly hear my surround.. well this is what i did.. i set up back the audio output setting from my ps3 and then from vsx-1019, increase the db of the rear surround speaker under manual calibration. Then set up front and center to small.. try it out

You are testing DTS-MA / True-HD from your Blu-ray player or POHD ? If POHD, don't waste your time, it doesn't support either of the two HD Audio format.

Your surround is soft sometimes due to the movie itself is soft. Try out the test tone, if the surrounds are loud using the test tones, then the problem is the sound from the disc.
