Traction perhaps...

Like that easy wat... regular hardtail... fit all deore + good fork + light-ass wheels+ lightass tires --> Mountain Goat
*
traction wasnt an issue. there was much less resistance on the pedals. didnt shift gears, went down and back up the hill, reached the top (overtook another rider some more), when reach only noticed that i was in the middle chainring. my crank and wheelset is pretty heavy atm. 1.46kg frame on a 13.7kg bike sweat.gif planning on upgrading fork and wheelset, then hopefully can become mountain goat tongue.gif

yeah. compared my 13.7kg bike to a 13.6kg anthem, anthem frame around 1kg heavier, but everything else lighter, can still climb better than my HT. poisoned by its lighter wheelset+crank. laugh.gif
ooohhh. not bad. AM 4000 right? high spec components, nice bike.
orange goes well with black. should have gone with black brake levers imho tongue.gif

IMO, rojak is always the best approach to build a good bike. I believe, each manufacturer has their core competency in manufacturing their core products... (in bike components of course). Whatever comes as stock/complete set from factory may not suit everyone.

if weight is near same with similar tire, then is the rider's endurance n strength..

Anthem advantages to HT is only under DH n AM (uneven terrain eg kiara 2k) condition.
The FS also less tol to the rider fatigue in TOTAL trip, but that is still rider issue nod.gif

Mmm... got potential singlespeed rider here.

Sometime back.. right after I swapped the stock Xero 2.2kg wheelset for the XT 1.7kg... tires and tubes the same...I was smilling from ear to ear.. it's like having a leg and lung transplanted from Superman.

Other items...don't feel the same. That includes that cranks.

+1

It's always rubbish wheels + rubbish fork + Blingy XT RD doh.gif

Bike brands are essentially just selling the frame mar... others stuff is just to ride home the frame.

Fork : Diff between good and bad is a lot of money
Wheels: Hard to tell also since wheel makers dun advertise
RD : Between a blingy XT and a Deore is not even a 100 bucks.

you felt the wheelset change because now you have less rotational load to overcome.. i used to swap my tyres a lot depending on the terrain and whether wanna go jalan2 or jumping.. cause most of the load when we are pedalling comes from the wheelset and tyres.. my DH tyres used to be 1.6kg each...imagine following my friends to xc trails.. die i tell you..hahaha...

m575 - rm250
rotor avid(model: dunno. the seller said taken out for elixir carbon set) - rm80.

if u planing getting new brake. I would suggest u go for deore 2010 aka m595. lighter and better performance. just add rm50.

the reason I go for m575. bcoz it's color and no stock laugh.gif

Got new tires today.

After ~3000km's... my Maxxlite 310 finally kaput'ed. Got cracks on the rear di..

So got ANOTHER set of WW tires .... this time it's the Kenda Klimax Lite 345.

Didn't have time to test it...from the quick blast in the dark (forgot to bring light.. ) by the river side... initial impression is grippier than the Maxxlite. However, ride is more uncomfortable due to the higher pressure needed (min 40psi vs maxxlite min 35psi).

Price wise.. it's slightly less than half of the Maxxlite @ ~RM90 vs RM170

This peeved me off.... 1.95 my fat behind lar!! At least the Maxxlite is closer to the truth.

Read some article somewhere by Maxxis saying must change tire if see crack. Besides.. the bunga is like 5mm to begin with... and only ~2mm left tongue.gif

Besides.. they're thinner than the manila card we use in school.

For road... it's surprisingly quieter than a SB8 for instance.. quieter than Maxxlite marginally too.

Frankly.. if dry... I think should survive... the area that I ride has mix stretches of river sand (biatch to clean), loose river rocks, hardpack and mud. All are ok except mud.. the Maxxlite absolutely turns into teflon once get a coat of mud on it.

Hi. Anyone going into Kiara trails this Sat ? I am a newbie. Interested to join a group if possible ... Thanks.

One more thing need your advice regarding gear shift, I have a 9 speed bike. When using the smallest cog at the front and the smallest at the back, the chain makes noise and not very smooth and hits the front derailer. Same goes if I use the largest front and largest back ...

Is it true that we should use the middle front gear the most and try to use the middle ranges of the back rather than the extremes ...

Appreciate your advice.

Cheers
