plasma is cheap but consume alot energy.. i see side to side comparison.. plasma have greener grass... and more lively color, panasonic plasma vs its led. But so far sharp color is 1 of the best i've seen, but it is expensive. I am down to sony and lg currently because SenQ got promotion for this two.. still dont know which to buy.. plasma with 3d also cheap..
Which is better: 50PW450 or 42LV3500 in terms of color, dynamic contrast, watching high moving movies/sports, DVD's, etc. Price difference for these 2 models is about RM 650

another thing which im confuse is the HD ready (720p) and the full HD (1080p) specs. seems like majority plasma tv is only 720p while those LED/LCD are 1080p.

does this affect:-
1. normal tv watching (astro/beyond)
2. dvd
3. blue ray
4. other multi media files; mkv/avi/rmvb/etc.......

Thats not true...the brand do have its range, from 720 to 1080p.

For example the V and VT series of Panny Plasma are the fullHD, together with S series, if I'm not mistaken. Check the website and reconfirm.

BTW, for better picture motion, and true color; then go with Plasma, if you like, bright and vivid color; go with LED.

no idea, i also comparing, but my eyes no good, i think the demo set 42lv3500 they din play full 1080p movie or promotional trailer, not go crisp and sharp. I din really compare much on plasma, because they didnt put all the tv together, they put them brand by brand.. so hard to compare sometimes..

1 sen extra per hour is more. RM10 extra per hour is also more. So how much is 'more'?

I once sat down and work it out and found it is a mere few sen more per hour. Not a lot more IMO.

IMO it is mainly commission that  they are pushing a particular brand. So far have not heard of what the salesman has mentioned. I must agree with you that Sharp's colours are nice but the price tag also very "nice" to look at. 60% of the shops I went to recommended Samsung for being value for money item. 20% recommended Sony and 15% recommended LG.  I have asked them why Samsung and most of them said it's because Samsung got very good international review on their LCD TV. Review is one thing, seeing and believing is another. Some honest ones even said not worth paying extra for 3D as 3D craze will eventually died out.

However the decision is always ours to make. Best to do your own research and just not listen to salesman talk. Hope you make the correct choice.

Thanks for your advise and your statement is very true!
I will stick to my original choice, which is Samsung UA46D5000.

i read some articles claiming plasma is better than LED/LCD in terms of performance...sorts of hertz bla bla bla...im noob in all this...wanna get one TV for my new house...appreciate all sifu recommendation here..sorry if this kinda question is being ask again and again and again...  blush.gif

LED/LCD's Hz is different with Plasma sub field's Hz
both kind of TV used different technology and cant dicuss both on the same table...

LED/LCD's Hz more on smoothness as can reach certain number of frame per second, avoid blur during fast pace scenes (motion blur)...
Plasma sub field's Hz is to provide better color while fast moving picture as the TV flash 10-12 times for each frame and allow for the whole 1080 lines to be "shown" for the lack of a better word...

if drop down as table view for comparison in term of Hz and sub-field between LCD/LED & Plama, it should look alike like this

LCD/LED
Hz (Number of Frame per seconds): 50-100/200 Hz
Sub field (Number of flash second): 200-300Hz (maybe around there)

Plasma
Hz (Number of Frame per seconds): 50-60 Hz
Sub field (Number of flash second): 600Hz maximum

Simple explanation would be, Hz is important to LCD/LED. But is totally not important to Plasma so for fast moving object, Plasma is always better, no matter how many Hz does the LCD/LED have.

Ok, i just got offered by SenQ LG 42LV3500 rm1849 and Sony Bravia 42ex410+bdp-380 rm2199, which one should i buy? I am tempted to get the LG one.. but the salesman say LG durability cannot compete with Sony.. i dont buy it anyway.. but i wanna know which gives better quality? Summore LG is Divx HD ready, heard it can play mkv hd files with minimal problem..

it depends what you watch.. do you watch sports, fast action 24p movies, or playing games? if you do avoid 42 or bigger LCD with 60hz refresh rate.

Try to get 100hz or best still 120Hz LCD panels for best picture in 24p and performance with reduce motion blur, the performance of those 2 (60Hz panels ) and the image quality is by far below cheap plasmas.

60hz lcd is only good for 32" or smaller , the picture quality gets worst with bigger one and image blurring becomes more apparent.

for a 60hz panel migth as well get the ccfl lcd much cheaper price, no need to waste money on overrated LED backlight.

Just went to LG roadshow, was really impressed by their Cinema 3D technology, so less hassle, just like Cinema 3D, no more bulky and expensive glasses, and it is much clearer and have more depth than cinema 3d.. Worth to consider if u are buying 3d tv..
