Can we use other facial recognition software for the laptop other than Asus own Smart Logon?

Coz its sucks to show off in front of my friend, adjusting the good handsome face in front of the camera & not being recognised for login
because the lighting was not right. Its sucks more when my friend did the ROFL stuff.

I am talking about Lenovo Veriface or other similar webcam based software.
*
lenovo veriface should work i guess.. but it only supports 32-bit version of windows.. my bro's hp has it.. and toshiba has it.. but mine couldnt be installed.. 64-bit os.. thats why.. u can always try thou. veriface is alot much more faster..

1: i installed xp and installed the drivers. Everything worked fine
2: next i installed vista 32 bit version. installed the drivers. Everything else worked fine except the brightness control.

could it be that ur in dGPU mode and with 203 ancient bios??

while in that mode.. u wont be able to configure brightness.. the icon shows but brightness not changed.

I found another way of lowering the system temperature while not gaming. Just change the PowerPlay settings in CCC to Maximise battery life while plugged in.

This will fix the maximum speed of the HD4570 to 300mhz core/250mhz ram. By this we are forcing HD4570 to run at lower voltage without reaching its maximum speed of 680mhz/500mhz which is really unnecessary while using non gaming applications.

Same like force running the CPU at 1050mhz/0.9v but were are doing it on the HD4570. I tried further to underclock the speed of the core/ram with GPU clock tool but the temperature doesn't goes down much.

Another thing, the Griffin cpu doesn't get hot so much compared to the Ati graphics core which easily reach a stable 101'c while gaming. (COD4)

So we are going to expect 100kg lighter version for the Asus Lamborghini Superleggera K-Series soon.
Hope najmods can give better "fuel usage" with his mods as my current miles per gallon sucks.

Anyway ATi drivers at Asus Support site is rolled back to version 8.631 date 18/9/2009.

I choose that name because its lighter physically too wink.gif

My aim is to get the most out of the battery while on move, when you just browsing the net and do nothing else. So I want to disable/remove some stuff to maximise battery life. But I use dGPU now, I want that 256MB out of my RAM

Meaning, before Windows 7, you have been using Vista?

No, I mean I dont use XP anymore. I only use XP and 7, never tried Vista.

I wanted to know, what is the idle temperature of you guys when idle (with the back cover closed I mean)? I want to do collect some data. Mine is 53C for CPU and 57C for GPU in idle, both are idle clock (1.05GHz CPU, 220MHz/250MHz for HD4570) in dGPU mode

With the PowerPlay set to Maximise Battery Life , temperature is reduced to about 55'C-62'C which is better than normal idle temperature of 70'C.

CPU 58C, GPU 59C. (1.05GHz CPU, 220MHz/250MHz for HD4570)

Is that on power plug or battery? Does it have any difference in temperature when running batteries or plugged to wall? Mine is on High Performance but highly optimised for battery saving and not use any software including Fusion

Power plug, but i noticed that running on battery gives further temperature reduction as HD4570 is off.

My Power4Gear is a bit customised, I only use High Performance when gaming. Forcing it to run at 1050mhz/0.9v CPU & 220mhz/250mhz for GPU even when using power plug to reduce temperature. Not using Fusion.

Alright, thanks smile.gif

If you guys wanted to try to save battery further, you could try my untested 'Superleggera' theory:

1) Remove the optical drive.
How many of us use optical drive all the time? With it removed, theoretically there is more air going inside your lappy with back cover closed and the current draw of this drive is 1.5A, it supposed to increase battery life too, I'm testing the former right now, and it seems temperature is only 2-3C higher than with the backpanel removed smile.gif

2) Disable unwanted stuff, like LAN, in BIOS if you don't use it.
I never use LAN for my lappy so now I disable it. You can disable other stuff like audio if you just wanted to browse in the mamak stall, maybe can further save few more minutes

3) Continue disable unwanted stuff.
I going trully nuts with this, I disable the internal mousepad entirely because I use mouse 100% of the time by disconnecting the ribbon cable behind the keyboard, but this means the L.E.D indicator underneath it won't work anymore. You can disable memory card reader in Device Manager too if you don't use it, and some of the USB port too

As of now. Using HD3200, case close, no fan mod. 74-76C surfing..

i think on batt mode, the optical rom is suspended already.

i think pretty not much u could do with max battery saving profile d
