one of my female Parabuthus transvaalicus scorpion molted from 6th instar to 7th instar.. finally matured and able to breed this sp.. smile.gif

kind of strange this time round for this molting. Normally from what i observed, all my current Parabuthus Transvaalicus scopion molt in flipped position meaning the back facing the sub, but this lady molted in not the usual flipped position but the opposite way ..... and the time took for final molting is much longer than usual too ...... took more than 15hrs so far and still molting..... is this usual ????...

anyone encounter this before? ..

My 2 cents, keep her as she is and do not disturb her. She'll turn out just fine if she's still alive now.

Ryo around 20 smthg left.
Rideon, yeah I've separated them into smaller container.

I wonder is lychas scutilus really a rare scorpion?
*
They used to be common in the hobby few years back but after those senior quit, it seems that none was left in the local hobbyist sad.gif
I only know we can find them in penang, never heard of any place else...
So far, only me, lester, h3ro and u have them atm so i would consider them "quite rare" but not as rare as chaerilus sp which is also local biggrin.gif

Hi guys, been a while...
I have a question, is there any way to extract venom from a scorpion & tarantula?

Few drops will do. Just for pure research purposes.

Pls pm me.

What kind of research can u do with limited equipment?
To milk a scorp venom, u ll need a electric shock device to inject very regular currents to shock the scorpion into ejecting the venom

better dont even think of doing it if u have no idea on how to milk them. u can either

a: kill them

or

b: kill urself

in the process.

A simple setup you won't need a lab for.

What is your lecturer's area of interest? What is he looking for bro?

Bro, this guy from tarantula.us done some venom extraction for research by this method. You can consider''

Basically he numbed the tarantula with carbon dioxide and stimulate venom ejection by electrical means.

I guess these equipment is easily found in any university laboratories.

and rafiq, I helped to embed your video as well

a normal step up / step down transforemer from 230 - 24 vdc or 24 - 3 vdc might do the trick ... i believe such equipment can be easily get from the engineering department ... smile.gif

Added on April 24, 2010, 2:48 pmbtw do watch out on the amp delivered ... too high and it might fry the specimen
