Em...can control crossover from remote? I can only see the crossover in the setup menu...btw is 100Hz ok?? I dunno what value to set.......

Another question...does this V475 decodes normal DTS or DD5.1??? Seems the manual only mentioned DTS-HD and DD TrueHD...I have lots of bluray rips, most are DTS or DD5.1 only.

The receiver doesn't shows a DTS or DD logo....unlike my old RXV-520 which shows a DTS or DD logo whenever the stream is detected. Is this normal for new receivers???

My Subwoofer is Yamaha YST-205...dunno how to calculate inch..... Now i set crossover max on woofer=140Hz, receiver=100hz (default).
I think when i press Display..it always display PCM, and then  Dolby Pro Logic II....haven't try to press down yet...will try that tonight.
Currently using my WDTV Live to test and has set the passthrough for the HDMI.
Also, when i try TEST TONE...i can not hear anything on the subwoofer...is this normal? I think my old receiver also the same...can never hear test tone on the subwoofer.

Yes, confirm those files have dts/dd one...aiyo...i have downloaded and watch so many years....almost 6 TB worth of bluray rips. Now i have turned off the subwoofer auto-standby ...i found most of the time, if the subwoofer went to sleep, dunno how to wake up even when there is action scene....last night watch a bit Pacific Rim...

Another thing...the volume control now goes by dB(-ve and +ve)...very hard to read....why can't they just use normal numbers from 0 - 100 or whatever...haiz...What is the max no. for the volume by dB??

Someohow, i still feel the subwoofer is not as loud as it should be compared previously with old receiver....

newbie reporting in.

i just bought a 375 + NS-P40 for my first ht. so far im loving it. but i have a few questions & i hope u sifus can help (even thou these questions may sound stupid, bt pls bear it with me, i really dont knw  ) 

1) is it normal when i turn on the 375, it produce "tik tik tik" sound?
2) the package i bought comes with an 80 feet white cable for the speakers. any advice on this?should i replace this cable? im asking this bcoz the cable looks cheap.
3) based on the manual & youtube vid, ypao automatically setup the speakers. does it also auto setup the crossovers & the dB? coz i keep changing the crossover value
4) i set hdmi1 to my media player & hdmi2 to my ps3. so far so good. but when change the source from my tv, there's is no sound. fyi, my lcd tv (LG LF series) doesn't hv an optical output but it has variable output (red & white) jacks. i already connect it to the avr but still no sound. is there something i missed?

Do other brand AVR have tik-tik sound?? Kinda annoying...i don't remember my old Yamaha AVR 525 got such tick tick sound..

Yup, i enable the extra bass, & using straight mode for movie & music...subwoofer only on when play loud or watch movie, else it remain off.

I also not sure why it set the crossover at 120hz, but anyway, I'm happy with this setting.

Hi, as i understand, after YPAO adjustment, the receiver will produce the sound according to the setting like distance, DB & xcross for the subwoofer.

as for Straight mode, is cut off the receiver equalizer like 2.1/5.1/PCM/Prologic, it will produce according to the disc recording quality/channel.

example, if the recording is DTS MA, it will produce 5.1 sound quality & if the recording is stereo, it will be 2.1 sound quality, the straight mode is nothing to do with the distance & adjustment.

as for why the xcross for subwoofer is 120hz, i also got no idea, maybe I just put beside the Front floorstand speaker, but since the YPAO setting in this way, I should trust the setup from the receiver rather than change it, further more ialso felt the sound quality is great.

At this moment, the subwoofer only switch on when watch movie or bass music, else will on since the Floorstand speaker can produce good enough for CD or Ipod song.

Bought the v675+spk160 yesterday at the yamaha fair at RM3200. Wanna consult all the sifus in this thread whether it's true that the spk160 is not advisable to pair with the lower spec v475? This is according to the yamaha  sales consultant. I initially planned to buy the v475 and pair it with the spk160 because I don't really need a 7.1 amp. Thank you.

The spk160 comes with dual 16cm cone woofers. If possible, I would like to pair it with the less frills(in another word cheaper) v475 amp. I went to desa home, legends and harvey norman to enquire about v475+spk160 package. All the salesmen told me v475 unable to support the spk160 . Thus I had no choice but to get the more expensive v575 or v675 and pay more $$ for some features that I hardly utilise. Thus, I would like to get the opinion from all the sifus here whether all those salesmen are telling me the truth.

Would like to ask few questions on Yamaha AVR.
My setup as below over the years:
Yamaha RX359 AVR
psb Alpha LR1 5.1 - front, rear, centre and woofer
Just recently, i bought a pair of psb Alpha T1 tower speakers at an attractive price for the front.
So my plan now is to change the AVR in order to make full use of the HDMI's that i have at home like my media player and xbox.
Been looking and doing readings on the RXV575 and comparing it with Denon AVRs. Honestly, spec and price wise...the RXV575 wins but for looks, i still like Denon's X2000 looks which is clean. (RM1699 vs RM2199)
Now, if i were to get the RXV575, will it be powerful enough to drive my T1? Will i be able to get full potential from the speakers?

currently im using ns-p40 speakers with 6 ohms. im just curious, say i want to upgrade it, can i use 8 ohms speakers on my 375?

still a lot of ppl now using amp without hdmi because they are still watching downloaded ahem movie with only DTS/AC3 

anoyne know how to use YPAO for 2 speakers only? it say must connect 5 speaker at v475..

manually set the distance? YPAO does more than that right?
