Currently Fajar-WA not that attractive, I might as well buy Fajar. Gens-C1 still in my list and others too.

Just wonder if anyone has an opinion on MPHB today? I suppose it's dropped because of this telecoms thingy (which is quite a small deal in terms of the overall business). Just wonder if this is a buying opportunity as it's currently -5+%.

A news on KNM...

0708 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: CLSA upgrades KNM Group (7164.KU) to Buy from Outperform, with analyst Jon Oh saying bullish stance based on valuation call due to underperformance of share price relative to benchmark as well as industry peers. "Newsflow on the sector have turned more positive, with recent approval of the Gorgon project (A$43 billion) in Western Australia. A recent discussion with KNM reminds us of their presence in Perth, WA, and is well-positioned to compete for some of the process equipment fit-outs for the project," Oh says. Adds, company has secured MYR1.2 billion in new orders year-to-date; may surpass CLSA new order expectation of MYR1.5 billion. Keeps 90 sen target price. Shares +4.7% at 77.5 sen. (VGB)

jason is right, when we see alot of new comers popping in, it means any tom, d*** & harry oso can make $$$ by simply close one eyes choose one counter, which is also a sign of overheating.

As far as I know, we're still in recession, only some recovery. I'll start selling when economy boom (should be at least 1 yr from now).

Read the previous post by PROTONW. Its in the news and rumours amongst the O&G Industry that since KNM have a good reputation with Shell (since shell is the main operator for Gorgon), then they "might" get some share.

Last stock selling?

I sometimes short term trade as well if got good profit, KLK, Axreit (aim for long term, but did buy sell a bit in between).

Carlsberg earn the most little (little or near no capital gain if excluding dividend), as its earning deteoriation make me worry of unable to sustain the generous dividend. Sold around 5.00 or 5.+.

Some never sell until now, especially like Panamy, near decade already if not mistaken. icon_rolleyes.gif

Cherroy, mine to tell. You just keep buying when you have available cash regardless of share price up or down, isnt it? So your capital is rolling bigger and bigger like snow ball. tongue.gif If that is the case, I must follow your style of investment. No need to headache and can collect dividend every now and then. hmm.gif

What are the counters that is good to be in this style of investment?

Still look for the best deal, it is not disregard share price up or down. Just like recently, share price up so much across, almost can find target to but, so now only see Qcapital for dividend reinvestment purpose. If no, then keep in FD first which I always prefer AUD one (at least can hedge a bit on inflation front), until can find some comfortable target.

chyaw, do you know CH Offshore?

from the research paper's write up, it is a cash cow undervalue stock and might raise the dividend payout from 3.2% per year to 6% next year having stronger cash flow estimate FY11...

This counter looks like undervalue's Ezra....

So fast up liao 9% today from 0.645 to 0.695

According to history, they going to announce dividend at October soon with tax exempt....

I also saw the research paper lately by DBS... Heard of it previously, but didn't look in detail as I choose Ezra over this CH Offshore.

No. But it was one of my finalist counters. CH offshore was not in my finalist (in Feb 09) as I only choose Erza to represent O&G counter that I'm interested in...

Good news for KENCANA stockholders (like ME!) tongue.gif

The Board of Directors of Kencana Petroleum Berhad ("Kencana Petroleum" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Kencana HL Sdn. Bhd. (“KHL”) has been awarded with a service agreement contract from an oil company for the provision of offshore construction services (“Contract”).

INFORMATION ON THE CONTRACT

Under the Contract, KHL will provide construction services to the client’s production platforms located offshore Peninsular Malaysia. KHL estimates that the value of the Contract, based on the anticipated scope of work and Contract unit rates, is approximately RM90 million for a primary term of three (3) years commencing Mid September 2009.

to make it simple, normally Futures can go for:

1. first buy then sell; another way is
2. first sell then buy

The one that I'm trying to avoid at this bullish market is first sell then buy, cos normally after i sold a contract, the price keep on rising and rising and I couldn't buy it back at a lower price to get more ticks.

Wall Street rises on commods, M&A; data supports recovery
On Wednesday September 16, 2009, 10:15 am EDT

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose slightly on Wednesday on gains in commodity prices and renewed merger and acquisition activity.

U.S. industrial production rose for the second straight month in August, while higher gasoline costs pushed up consumer prices, reinforcing hopes a recovery was underway.

"It's particularly encouraging to see the manufacturing sector of the economy recover," said Hugh Johnson, chief investment officer of Johnson Illington Advisors in Albany, NY.

"It's like all the other numbers we've seen in that they've been better than expected, and that's what bull markets are all about."

The Dow Jones industrial average (DJI:^DJI - News) gained 18.21 points, or 0.19 percent, to 9,701.62. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (^SPX - News) rose 2.49 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,055.12. The Nasdaq Composite Index (Nasdaq:^IXIC - News) added 5.95 points, or 0.28 percent, to 2,108.59.

The S&P hit a new high for the year shortly after the open, and is now up 56 percent from the March 9 low.

Adobe Systems Inc (NasdaqGS:ADBE - News) said it plans to pay $1.8 billion for fast-growing business software maker Omniture Inc (NasdaqGS:OMTR - News) as Adobe, the maker of Photoshop and Acrobat looks to turn around declining sales.

Adobe shares fell 6.6 percent to $33.26, while Omniture shares surged 26 percent to $21.82.

M&A activity is considered a positive sign for the economy as businesses display confidence in their capital positions and begin to spend.

Gold hit an 18-month high of $1,020.50 an ounce and helped lift silver and platinum to multi-month peaks. Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc (NYSE:FCX - News) shares rose 1.5 percent to $72.37.

Genworth Financial Inc (NYSE:GNW - News) climbed 6 percent to $12.76 a day after it priced a common share offering.

Rogers Corp (NYSE:ROG - News) rose 7.7 percent to $29.09 after the maker of specialty materials for electronics and consumer markets raised its outlook, citing strong performance in its printed circuit materials and high performance foams segments.

Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ - News) capped gains on the Dow, down 2.6 percent to $30.20. UBS downgraded the stock to "neutral" from "buy," saying the telecommunications company is likely to miss its outlook for 2009 earnings growth.

Corning Inc (NYSE:GLW - News) dropped 2.2 percent to $15.45 after it said it acquired all of the outstanding shares of Axygen Bioscience and its subsidiaries from American Capital Ltd (NasdaqGS:ACAS - News) for $400 million. American Capital jumped 30 percent to $3.35.

all depends on rate of increase.
0.25% increase would trigger a knee-jerk reaction, but I think stocks would rebound after the heat is over.
Besides, an increase of rate is not-all-bad, it could signify an improved economy.

This counter cannot hope for the div. So little only, in terms of % and value. I buy for capital appreciation, but not moving fast enough

why short when a stream of non-negative news is out? This small bull would last for at least till tomorrow...as it just started. Maybe down next week due to profit-taking & shorter trading days. unsure.gif

just kepoh here, i dont know if i got it right...

Short : You Sell First, Buy Later
Long: You Buy First, Sell Later

i'll use some not so realistic numbers..
shorting got no limit coz index can go as high as it can.. u short at 1200.. index can go up to 1500,2000,2500,5000 ? (exaggerated figures)
but for longing, the most u can lose is RM60k coz: KLCI 1200point * RM50per point = RM60,000 (drop till zero)

looking to liquidate KNM @ 5% above breakeven, TA at 1.23. then gonna take a short break. back when the dust has settled.

in the meantime, gotta start looking to FTSE.

haha you're right there.

i was expecting a turnaround for KNM at 75 sens, manatau it really consolidate irrationally (with low volume) till 70 sens, then critical breakout point together with volume.

hehehe, time to sell into strength (and volume). this counter has gone out of my favour already. laugh.gif

see tomorrow can sustain 900k lots (90mil shares) or not. if can then got momentum and bull run drool.gif drool.gif

it's a really strong call. i recall my own FV of KNM to be around 95 sens based on EPS & peer PER but now revised to a quick selloff at around 85 sens because i don't want to wait any longer..

tbh i don't trust ECM/Maybank IB's calls no offence laugh.gif

you've only heard the good side of it.
my luck with technicals is about 50-50.

the charts were slightly bullish for a very short term buy when i first entered KNM at 86.5 sens, was thinking.. maybe can shoot up to 93/94 sens in about 5 days. it did shoot up but fail to break 91 sens, then unexpectedly Smallcap dumped KNM en masse.

best to mix them with market sentiment, a lil bit of news/rumours and most importantly fundamentals.

until now i still got no balls to goreng loss-making chips based purely on technicals. so you gotta teach me thereeeeeeeee laugh.gif

wouldn't it be doubly-hard to monitor stocks from afar?
To adapt to different behaviours of market, wouldn't it be exposure to wider risks?

In fact, I experience it. Sometimes I bought some shares, when TA is asking to sell, but eventually it goes up and when that happen, TA suddenly indicate buy call or strong rebound or whatever we can call it. But then again, people might call this luck blush.gif

I plan to learn both TA and FA so that I can do some comparison

you're right but right now i'm based in the UK for studies so i'm no longer going short term on KLCI, got 1 mid term stock and i'm planning to look for at least 3 more stocks in early-mid Oct to hold till January at least.

will be short term in the UK since i'm here but i'd have to monitor and learn and do research before i go into the markets like what i did before KLCI. boy.. the market behaviour here sure is different. wilder somemore drool.gif

Surprisingly sometimes we still think our chart reading is soooo good, that we end up earning a lot less. I also missed a lot of boats and at the same time earn less, because some technical analysis saying sell while I should be confident in that stocks sad.gif

Anyway, still good for reference

Jason - Mate.....
Please DO NOT trust TA charts...it is all smoke and mirrors......IMHO

It was extensive use of technical charts that convinced me (at the time) to buy MUHIBAH six weeks ago....

What an absolute DOG!

Should have stuck to my own judgement and ignored the TA analysts..... hmm.gif

you're right but right now i'm based in the UK for studies so i'm no longer going short term on KLCI, got 1 mid term stock and i'm planning to look for at least 3 more stocks in early-mid Oct to hold till January at least.

will be short term in the UK since i'm here but i'd have to monitor and learn and do research before i go into the markets like what i did before KLCI. boy.. the market behaviour here sure is different. wilder somemore  drool.gif

You can trust KNM to make you money - eventually.... blush.gif
I sold all my KNM on June 10th at 1.03.... brows.gif
Highest it got was 1.07 and - at that time - a lot of "analysts/sifus" were forecasting 1.3xxx

The Chad deal frightened a lot of people off....

Also - I don't buy this story about the Oz project...... hmm.gif

*
I believe FA is more reliable than TA.
FA is based on facts, TA is based on readings that twists & turns the facts but provide you a teeny-wee bit guideline.

The problem is that so many Chinese guys are in love with charts....part of the culture and Feng Shui culture that a chart with a graph or a curve is much more convincing psychologically than FA analysis which requires a much broader perspective.

funny how CRAPPY PROTON got supports from Research House
Every few days, one news comes out.

Latest one :

French carmaker Renault SA, instead of Germany's Volkswagen AG, could end up being the technical partner of Proton Holdings Bhd, a research house has suggested.

Isn't Renault has Tan Chong Motors?

Why Proton, why not PERODUA? Rubbish talk, even Research House goreng the news. Stupid.

KUALA LUMPUR: Ingress share price rallied in early trade on Sept 17 after its 70% subsidiary Ingress Technologies Sdn Bhd (ITSB) has won a RM196 million contract from Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (PMSB).

At 9.15am, Ingress rose 16.5 sen to 50.5 sen with 5.19 million shares done.

Ingress said yesterday the contract could generate total revenue of about RM196 million over a five-year period for the supply of stamping and body assembly parts for a new Perodua model.

It said project entailed the supply of components comprising rear modules, door surrounding modules and fuel lids to PMSB for the new model starting in the first half of the financial year ending Jan 31, 2012, for five years.

Ingress said while the total revenue expected was about RM196 million for the five-year period, investment in equipment and toolings was estimated to total RM17.7 million.

True, that the reason. Look at Dialog.

I have my own directive.

- get out from KLSE
- no more trading, now just selling progress
- KNM is BAD omen, everytime I touch KNM sure die
- No cash in hand

not bad eh - all duit RAYA talk now. Cash in .. cash out.

My eyes now used to see non-KLSE counters. 1 counter in 5 min = entire KLSE volume in this 43 minutes tongue.gif

Opps, OT again.

Go Go KNM. (so that the crappy SAAG will also move )

funny how CRAPPY PROTON got supports from Research House
Every few days, one news comes out.

Latest one :

French carmaker Renault SA, instead of Germany's Volkswagen AG, could end up being the technical partner of Proton Holdings Bhd, a research house has suggested.

Isn't Renault has Tan Chong Motors?

Why Proton, why not PERODUA? Rubbish talk, even Research House goreng the news. Stupid.

it is funny that how can u related TC with renault...
yes renault has some stake in nissan but it is irrelevant with TC..
TC i just a nissan car supplier in bolehland...

TAS Offshore

buy/sell at own risk

Dali, the blogger comments is not actually convincing.

Look, TAS may have big land and can produce 20-25 vessels a year. But frankly, TAS have no solid name in O&G industry.
By having a PETRONAS licence doesn't mean you can land a good job from O&G players. shocking.gif

I do not hold TAS or SEALINK.

However, the above is shown solely for illustration purposes only based on the average closing price of CME Group Shares for the 10 trading days prior to 26 November 2008 (being the cut-off date for pricing purposes as agreed between the parties) of USD193.96 per share. The actual effect, which will be computed upon completion of the Proposed Equity Participation, may differ from the above.

i had at 1.35 and saw it up till 1.55 then down to 1.25. .still averaging it. Hope it will touch 1.5 again and then i will not to hesitate to let it go...but the prospect of this counter still good.

I recently just created OSK future account.

Can someone tell me how it works for FCKI?
How much money per contract and how much i earn?
Whats the commision like?

Thanks!!
*
I can roughly tell you, but I'm no pro. Ask Debbie. Where are you debbie? icon_question.gif

As what debbie told me, RM3500 per contract!

The index is related to KLCI IINM.

Every point whether it goes up or down, 1pt = RM50.

If you short it and the index goes down south you are in profit and vice versa.

1619 has difficulty to pass 1.24/1.25

everytime she wants to touch there, sure kena hentam balik, let's see if she could stand still at 1.20 and above, else we may see her back to 1.09/1.10.

hold for long term sure no problem. smile.gif

Who care it is exciting stock up and down a lot or Apek stock (turtle stock), the ultimate goal of investment is make money only.

Always buy exciting stock and ended up being trapped or lose money, then what's for?

I don't know whether Daiman is classified as low cap or not, may be should be midcap. But this is one of the low cap that I put in my favourite page. Again, it is a very boring counter, but every year got around 9-11 cents dividend, while NTA wise is around RM4.xx and no borrowing. Don't mean recommend it, just post what I know and some stocks I got an eye on.

Dividend play only.

I never like growth stock, risk wise is too much (for me), while we don't know which is which, not all growth stocks ended up really growth, get what I mean?

Once choose wrong one, other need to make double the gain to compensate it.
You lose 50%, then you need to make 100% back to cover the loss.

Eg. 1.00 sink to 0.50, so you need to make 100% on 0.50 to breakeven point.

That's why and where the theory of never lose your capital is very important.

Prospects of Renault being Proton's partner

The Story of a Playar a.K.a Proton

In the pursuit of happiness, Proton has looked at GM, VW, Renault and so the list goes on and on and on and on...

I wonder... when will Proton get old before other investors realize that they might just have acquire a suitor with saggy papaya, a face riddled with pot marks and a body the size of a crude oil barrel.

JUST DIE!

Chyaw - Yes, I'm movin to US market now. Selling anything that already in profit or break even.
Amongst all my holding, I believe RCE can make a come back.

Second will be LION Group. But not so fast, by year end perhaps. I remember Adam n me both predict 1200 by December (that time CI component are still 100).

Looking at the latest data from all over the world, the economy is still pretty much the same as where it was last seen as bad.

Point to ponder :

Will there be another dip in US stocks ?

1. NYSE up 56% rally some fund manager scared stiff to buy now because they think the NYSE will make another major drop. So, it is better to wait for the double dip or the W or whatever Armageddon to happen first and waiting on the sidelines with their piles of cash would have a long time to wait.

2. i Capital - "The NYSE is not going to crash in September and October 2009 and inflation is not going to rear its ugly head anytime soon. i Capital sees the NYSE pausing further as it navigates these two months...."

3. The other worry that many investors have is that the US economy will be hit by high inflation as the economic recovery takes hold. The reasoning is simple. The US economy has been boosted by a massive injection of monetary and fiscal stimuli. These can only lead to rapid economic growth, and thus higher inflation.

What?? blink.gif

No, that is not red.. that is just a very very very small dip compared all those huge green shoots that have been sprouting like weeds the past 8 trading sessions.

I like to see at least -100 or higher before even considering red.

US market is still bullish. Tons tons of money are ready to pour in.. including those from Malaysia.
Can you believe this? biggrin.gif

Anyway,..the market is essentially flat. Somebody needs to call the top here and retrace from here.
Crude oil will go down.. they got too much.

CME buys 25% of Bursa Derivatives
Bursa Malaysia will sell 25% stake worth RM55.6m in its derivatives subsidiary Malaysia Derivatives Bhd to CME Group Inc. CME would pay RM1.9m in cash and 76,247 of its own shares. (Financial Daily)

Comments: It will be a positive move for Bursa as USD CPO futures can be introduced in US while Malaysians are able to trade derivatives locally. The tie-up will bring new business to Bursa and improve its international presence.

kekeke... i am happy but nothing to shout about cause not out of the woods yet .. bought at 7.95leh, i think Bursa got great potential in the long run.

With or without CME's backing but now i think got better chance seeing Bursa hit Rm 10 at least 2nd Q 2010, hopefully sentiment improved by than.

Interesting paper i'd like to share with LYN gang..
Nekobank spezial in conjuction with Hari Raya... "Potential market turbulence"

quoted from technical review:
QUOTE
The FBM KLCI had surpassed its recent 1,196.46 peak but as it makes fresh highs, risks to the downside
increase significantly whilst potential rewards diminish. The clear bearish divergent technical signals are now
very obvious. Waning potential upside would cause wise investors to dispose stocks on the FBM KLCI on
rallies. This rise will be fraught with heavy stock liquidation. The next major impending move will be down.
Exercise extreme caution and dispose stocks on any and every rebound from now. Weaker volume trends will
also be obvious with this final rise. Market breadth is shrinking and the rise is only led by a few blue chips.
