nope. use google maps. visit m.google.com/maps from your PHONE

no in built GPS. but if you buy a GPS receiver, the G900 supports Garmin software.

7. The fella at the shop told me this phone hangs a lot. True meh?

Not really, in my experience and other g900 users after update. hanging is not common. for me personally maybe it will hang once a month if i forget to close apps.
it will hang if you try to view youtube with the default media player. for new users they may experience the feeling of "lag".

8. Whats the battery life? less charge time means i can save more on my electricity bill

battery life:
high usage 1-2 days.
medium usage: 2-3 days
low usage: 3-5 days.
very low usage: 5-7 days
very very low usage... maybe you will get the 380hrs SE say you can get.
*not recommended to attempt to fully charge your phone over usb. it will never max out the battery.

This is a frequent problem people seem to be facing. here is a quick fix. might not work all the time.
In wifi. you click more. then new account. type in ssid. example...starbucks. and account name i put in.... starbucks. and connected.
seemed to work. but i tried it again somewhere else it didnt work. so you can try this. hopefully it will work.

fake one apparently costs RM15-20 (dunno where to get. dont PM me. hehe)

12. Can this phone use word? pdf? powerpoint? excel?

yes. it can. its got quickoffice & PDF+

13. How do i use email on the phone?

menu -->> settings -->> messaging -->> email accounts -->> more -->> new account

then you fill in all the details.

for gmail. the settings are

connection type: POP3
incoming server address: pop.gmail.com
outgoing server address: smtp.gmail.com make sure 'use SMTP authentication' is ticked, and so is 'use inbox login details'

i recommend Download restrictions set to: just headers.

14. My alarm doesnt on when the phone is off. why leh?

because its off...... hahahaha. lots of smart phones are like this. it takes too much effort to run the alarm it seems.

15. What is the maximum memory card thingie i can use?

Around 30 mins. Including backing up-updating-restoring backed up stuff. Also depends on your internet speed.

17. How do I get to the service menu?

From the standby screen hit RIGHT, *, LEFT, LEFT, *, LEFT, *

the service menu is very useful. it allows you to check everything.
such as screentest, speakertest, vibrationtest, and all that. really useful esp. when buying buying a used phone.

yes the phone has chinese language support.
AP models usually come with it installed.
ORI set usually doesnt. but it can be installed for free by the SE service center.

the price for the stylus i got from some of the other forumers that posted it up. im not really sure where to get it but i guess if you walk around lowyat or place with lots of handfone sales you can find it.

Recently I saw alot of people in the streets are using G900...saw 4 users in the same bus today...

u sure?...but his set seeemed like brought in from another country...lol.....i just worry about the warranty part...

Dunno...might consider another brand...SE ori GPS receiver's production seems to be halted...couldnt find any brand new set around...

i'm using the Holux slim 236 which was purchased few years back, recently just change the battery (using nokia type BLC5), it is very reliable. Then another thing need to take into consideration is the Garmin mobile XT running quite slow on the G900, lagging something like 2 secs behind.

...got lagging issue ah?....then like that not nice already...need to consider before buying GPS receiver...

i bought a bluetooth handsfree at feb 2009....now it seemed like got problem...can i take go any of the sony ericsson shop?...eg: the gardens...coz later on i go midvalley and gardens for shopping...i bought this thing at digital mall...but it is ori 1.....got Midland hologram on the device...and i have sony ericsson warranty card....

yeah i think the phone just hits a small glitch. i do get the sms it just doesnt tell me. I need to go look into the messages folder myself. so its just a reminder/announcement glitch. and restart will fix it.

yesterday i go ktv...i video record with my G900...come out the video is quite laggy....

i turn on light...and night mode......the audio is not nice....laggy...

What do you expect if you are recording a video and turning on night mode..
Night mode tends to lag the phone alot even in Camera mode.

if ur games is located in ur memory card, i tink u can still have it after update....if in phone memory...evrything will be lost after firmware update...


and i dont tink u should update ur phone since it is working good.......unless u have problem with current firmware..

For me i would allocate my apps according to their types.
Games/Multimedia - M2
System Admin Apps/Management apps - Phone memory.

So basically those stuffs installed in your m2 are not affected if u installed all of them in your memory card.

About the firmware issues, since yours is working well, just leave it there unless any problem occurs, then reflash it.

About the contact sync, frankly i also have problem dealing with the PC sync. It seems like SE is not supporting UIQ platform on their syncing software...

veteran in this thread will notice that i been b****ing abt the fastport since day 1. well.... i got a solution. for those whose fastport connection are giler-giler... u know... u gotta bend d connector, rest the connector on something so that the batt is charging.... mine is resolve for now.

its seem i have sweaty palm and the location of the fastport on the phone is not exactly "optimized" for me. the port get dirty due to my sweaty palm. One hp was kind enuff to clean it for for free. i dunno what they do. thye took my phone to the back of the shop den i hear some grinding/brushing sound. its been 3 week and my fastport work in whatever direction i put my phone. i time cucuk, straight connect.

the above is what the shop told me. so you guys/gals with fastport issue, get the port cleaned. see if it work for you.

just bought G900 yesterday. so far most feature satisfied my need. when the 1st time use just feel this a bit lag, after fews hour i can adapted myself with delay of this phone..

Well, new firmware works well in my phone now...
I straight upgraded my firmware once i bought the phone.

I just gone mad with the fastport again.
Hmm...since you said so..i might give a try..Mind telling where is the shop?

its at Sunway Mentari. I don't know the shop name. my bro-in-law bought me there seeing me taruk-ing the fastport all the time. Its facing the middle (car park area). I think its the corner or 2nd shop. close to kopitiam. the shop is run by all female (all sisters).

how u all update the firmware? cal the seller to upgrade? how much is a 4gb and 8gb M2? just now i go ask for the price of g900.then they wan me rm45 for a 1gb M2. where got so expanive ar??????

you can use your Sony Ericsson Pc suite to update firmware.....or better easier, pay the seller to upgrade for u...4gb around 50 and 8gb around 100......

Ori set doesnt comes with Chinese.
But you can send it to any service center to install it...or do it manually...

yaya.....the downside is the camera only.....but so far, the quality is not so bad.....boleh tahan la...coz it is not cybershot type...

yours is ori i presumed. the price is ap and you have to trade in a phone. guess there's too many malfunction in g900 that cause the significant drop of price. and also the bankruptcy of uiq may have cause the price to drop sooooooo fast.

Joking. Just use swiss manager to end all apps and reclaim memory.

I just apply a anti glare screen protector. Used to have a crystal cover, but dumped it since its scratching my phone's body.
If you worried that much just get a silicon case...
