How come some of you comparing HD sound with 5.1 sound from different sources smile.gif

Isn't the review about comparing from the same source?

Very often the difference is in the price. When we pay more for something, we expect it to be better and therefore we pay more closer attention to the detail then we otherwise would.

For me I never heard of Master audio so I cannot comment but from my experience with high bit rate DD and DTS, I cannot tell much difference at all. Anyway, I am more than happy with most mkv dts sound so no need to upgrade for now. Just mu opinion.

This is like the argument during the early days of what is HD and what is Full HD Video and whether there is a difference between 720 and 1080. Some can see the difference, some say anything beyond 720 is microscopic difference. Technically there is a definite difference btw lossy and lossless, and whether you can hear the difference depends also on your decoder as well as speakers.

The 720P and 1080P debate is different because it was comparing whether one could see the diff on a 37" or 42" TV. As TVs get bigger the eyes can see the diff.

For audio, it is not as straight forward as the current quality has almost reached the limit of what our ears are capable of differentiating. So it is often the mixing that might now make a bigger difference than the bitrate.

Like some people say a very good mixing of DD or DTS 5.1 might sometimes sound better than a HD Audio if it's not properly mixed.

True, just that whenever I buy a BD title that I already own the DVD, I like to compare the PQ so why not also the AQ. Just a habit of mine since I adopted to BD. smile.gif

The dem bulb won't blow yet. mad.gif Furthermore no reason for me to upgrade especially when I am sitting 13" away. 1080p or 720p won't make any difference to me on a 50". rolleyes.gif

Like that must reconsider my decision to buy HD media player. Or else wait for more m2ts to be available.

Yup, we did a comparison for my friend who never saw any BD before. It was The Fast and the Furious, immediately he realised what he's been missing all this while. Now he's eager to buy a BD player already.

That's why you have to upgrade. At 13' away you should not be using 50". At least proj and 100" screen for you biggrin.gif
