Very often the difference is in the price. When we pay more for something, we expect it to be better and therefore we pay more closer attention to the detail then we otherwise would.

For me I never heard of Master audio so I cannot comment but from my experience with high bit rate DD and DTS, I cannot tell much difference at all. Anyway, I am more than happy with most mkv dts sound so no need to upgrade for now. Just mu opinion.

Mkv have many different quality and if encoded properly with very high bit rate, the PQ can be very good. I agree bluray will be better but those high quality mkv is really not that far behind. To simply say mkv quality is no fight for bluray is not correct. Just like DVD video which got lousy quality and good quality.

Maybe is your mkv player? Anyway, i never see those release by the so call "scene" group so i cannot comment.
