No, I didn't have any 3rd party batt but the firmware upgrade didn't mentioned anything about battery safety prevention.
I said this because Panasonic locked G1 and GH1 in their latest firmware upgrades from using 3rd party batt.

However, I can confirm from my colleague as he have a lot LX3 3rd party batt.

heres some test High Dynamic shot comparism. comparing with normal P mode, HD mode, and a real HDR shot merged in Photomatix in Merge Exposure mode, with the shots shot at +-2EV

first, the control. spot metering aimed at sky

and now the built in HD mode in Art mode
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

And finally a real HDR shot with +-2EV done with Photomatix
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

not bad i'd say. the HD mode is very close to the HDR's sky colour, the house and tree at the bottom left had been lightened up, but still not as much as a real HDR.

overall, it ain't bad for a fake HDR, in between a real HDR and a normal shot lol.

I think you must update from 1.2 to 1.3.....
Later only 2.0.

Cause 2.0 didn't consist of the 1.3 changes.....

Quite hard to scout for cheap unit .... some store pile up the stock and "A" 9 9 the price :S

Btw, spotted immediate faster response time of AF and a ... much better AWB .... though still a bit weak in darkness tongue.gif
still loving my LX3 lol ~~~

@ahhann

set to shutter priority mode.
have at least a mini tripod with you.
mount your lx3 onto the tripod
set shutter to a few seconds, depending on your liking.
you can experiment the duration of shutter to obtain a result of your liking.

Added on September 29, 2009, 11:08 pmDoes anyone know whether the LX3 has enable slave modes for speedlights such as nissin di622, or maybe others?

anyone can confirm this?

Announcement from Panasonic: "Please allow us to apologize for this inconvenience, as the firmware download is temporally suspended now.The download will be available soon." Let us wait and see. Hopefully no flaws or bugs in the current firmware. Thanks to Michael Maddox for letting us know.

I use full manual and set the aperture it to as small (higher number = smaller, so i can set a longer exposure time) as I can get the nicest trail. But if it is too bright, I'll use my ND filter (for long long trail). I thought The ND filter is fun too to reduce the DOF, but anyway result is not very good due to the limited zoom and small sensor size. But u need to get the lens adapter to use a filter.

rclxm9.gif anyway, heres a simple quick test shot on the AWB vs manual WB under flourescent

AWB
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Manual WB with a white card
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the manual WB is closer to reality and easier to the eyes smile.gif

although, i did notice that the AWB is signicantly better than before. either way, i'll still be using MWB more often laugh.gif

and also tested out the WB with flash on, and the greenish hue when using the flash is pretty much non-existant already! rclxm9.gif
