guys, i've just gotten my hero & would like to 'un-virgin' it using MCR2.8 (with chinese). however, being all new to android os, i'm confused over the guide generously done by Levi here against Modaco's brief guide here or xda forummer here.

i know as new updates are created, the steps to root gets easier too. so which guide is safest, yet easy for noobs like me?

did u manage to resolve the issues using papago x5 on your MCR2.8? bcoz i'm getting it too, so wanna be sure my soon-to-root hero will run smooth with it. if not, i'll root it to MCR2.7 then. thanks!

where did you get your htc hero?? how much? can you give me the best shop for it? n97 not doing any good for me.

you guys familliar with foto charlie?? There got hp with installment. But I dont know whether got HTC there or not.

finally, after a long tedious reading ard here & there, i've rooted with MCR 2.8. Thought all's well but just found several progs crashed & forced close, like Quickoffice, Auto Task Killer. Anything i may hav done wrongly? one that i missed was to partition my sdcard to allow apps installation into the card instead of phone memory.

neways, should i just reinstall these apps? if so, where to get the factory bundled quickoffice? now, i could only live with Docs To Go but lite version...sigh...

seem like every version of MCR got bugs...awaiting official 2.0 ROM with HTC eagerly..

Yeap.. managed to go MCR 2.9 last night but unable to restore backup sms via Sprite Backup. It crashes often on root firmware. Back to original then.

nope, MCR2.8 failed to load my Papagox5 which i've revert back to 2.6. But now im on MCR2.9 my papago x5 work perfectly. satellite fix very fast.


perhaps you should revert back to earlier MCR then backup only SMS/Calllog leaving other options uncheck.
i manage to restored all my SMS and calllog only my contact i use sync to sync it back to my Hero.

another thing not working after rooting to MCR2.8, my sms delivery (although checked), isn't working. with the array of issues i'm facing, i'll downgrade to MCR2.7. what do u guys think? or should i wipe (despite mcr2.8 doesn't require me to) & re-root mcr2.8?

Yeap!...and the best thing is that it's considered as a pda, so the installment term is lower than phone. I believe now they even got HTC touch.

mine about 2 days, so far no problem with it and it's smooth.
