Hi guys, will need help here in better understanding the currently available rom for hero. I read through pages but still very confused with all the complicated terms. Things like AOSP 2.0 but VERSION 3.0 ??? harr ?

is very confusing with all the version....
Please comment/correct me if i get interpret wrongly. sorry for such noobness.. im trying my best to catch up
1. Out of box Rom for Hero is AOSP 1.5 or GOOGLE Android 1.5 or can also be called CUPCAKE.
2. AOSP 1.6 is DONUT? and AOSP 2.0 is ECLAIR?
3. MCR 3.0C is CUSTOM MADE ROM by some fellow (with totally different appearance etc) ??? Same with MODACO 3.0 ??? are they actually the same?
4. What is TEKNOLOGIST 1.9 KERNEL that i see many ppl will install together with MODACO 3.0?
5. What is the AMON RA recovery image??? is it just an application to root the Above rom???
6. AOSP 2.0/ 2.01 is still in beta... so is kinda unstable/ incomplete... is better for noob like me (play safe) to avoid at the meantime?
7. Which is the current most stable/Complete rom available? is it the MCR3.0C + 1.9 Kernel? or the AOSP 1.6 ?
8. NANDROID / SPRITEBACKUP/ MyBACKUP are all backup (contacts, sms, settings, apk etc) application that can be used when i test with the Rooting process?
9. If I have root to AOSP 1.5 now with market (i believe is the overseas rom with market), DO i have to change back my Rom to the FACTORY Original one before Rooting to OTHER rom like MCR 3/ Modaco 3.0?
10. All APN settings. MMS, 3Gs, etc will all need to be reset everytime we root a new rom?
I thought i have rooted my hero with the version with Market... but i think it is still stick to 1.5 cupcake, since i cant install Google Goggle. So hopefully to make it clear the next one i wan to root is going to be better n faster.
f
inally! THANK YOU TO BEAR WITH MY NOOB QUESTIONS
3. MCR= MoDaCo Custom ROM, so yes they are the same. ROM is the firmware of the phone, so it depends on the dev to wether change the appearance or not. Well AFAIK MCR have Sense UI similar with stock Hero phones, but with added functionality.
