best value should be sammy LCD 40 B530 FHD . someone bought this for RM 2800.superb black level for the price

the above recent price for panny p42s10 look tempting too

waiting for my preferred sammy 42 B450 plasma to drop price. plasma is kinder to the eyes

power consumption for sammy model is more economical than panny . the panny G series is scary

the korean apparently have triumph over the jap

What type of blu-ray their play? Pirated or origianl. Do you know that their also can play DVD in blu-ray player and what type of cable their used to connect FullHD TV with Blu-ray player?

My point is you, must make sure their have fully utilised the potential of Blu-ray player and FullHD TV before you can make accurate conclusion.

What do you meant? Care to elaborate?
Put simply, the S10 is a FullHD panel, hence to view it in its full display glory, use a HD source, eg. BD.

Lots of people still buy the best available, ie. FHD but they DO NOT have a HD video source, preferring only to DVDs and Astro, and end up grumbling about the supposed quality of the panel.

The amazing thing is, some retailers are still 'showcasing' FHD panels using DVDs ... doh.gif

The main difference is resolution. But first, you should consider what type of movie/TV you want to watch in the first place.

For example, if your new Plasma is mainly for watching Astro and play DVD, then HD ready is sufficient to meet your need and no need to purchase FullHD Plasma.

However, if you plan to purchase Blu-ray player, then you must go for FullHD Plasma to maximise the quality of your movie. For course, you need HDMI cable to connect Blu-ray player with FullHD Plasma. I noted so dealers will use component cable to connect Blu-ray player with FullHD Plasma when HDMI is not included in the package. If that happen, you don't expect you will see the true power of Blu-ray. laugh.gif

in the past that's quite true when HD and FHD is around double the price..

but nowadays, no need to consider the lesser model when it's only 300-400 diff between the X10 and S10.. would you pay 10-15% less for something that gives you 62% or 1.3million pixels less??

also similar spec FHD panny in US is around the same as our S10 pricing, while X10 equivalent in US is selling below RM2k..

What's the spec for a HD movie? How to check?
1080i vs 1080p?
HD format defined as 1080 lines per frame, and 1920 pixels per line, interlace scan. rclxub.gif
Plain language can?
DTS? x264? << what's are all these alphanumeric means?
Are all BD movies HD?

In simple term, you will only notice the difference between 1080p and 1080i when watching fast moving objects in movie.

Where as DTS etc is Audio format. Currently most BDs are either Dolby True HD, dts HD Master Audio or PCM etc as their main audio output. All these three are lossless format. But if you want to enjoy those format of audio you need to spend some more (could be huge) in hardware. laugh.gif
