I went to survey on a nice sofa set to fit my living room. The sales person (two different shops) told me that leather sofa is not hot in a non-air-conditioning living room. Man-made leather will be hot. But pure leather like buffalo won't as the hot air will be "dispersed" to the entire cushion beneath the leather. And to maintain its line from cracking, you'll need to apply some "wax" to clean and shine it.

Now my living room is running on fan, so how far is the truth the sales person told me on the hotness? Because from what I know is, leather sofa is meant for cold room. 1 + 2 + 3 seaters leather sofa will cost me about RM 2.8k (retail price = RM 3.3k). Is this genuine leather?

Personally I dont think RM2.8k would get you 100% genuine leather, it's likely bycast or bonded leather. Please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leather for more details on Leather.

From my survey, 1+2+3 full leather sofas usually cost around MYR5-6k and above in Malaysia.

From my experience, 2.5-3.5k are half leather sofa while 5-6k are fully leather sofa. Half leather sofa means the back of the sofa are not leather instead they are using canvas.

my dad's house using 3+2+1 leather (half i think) sofa...no A/C in living hall, hot as hell...yes, i think i can confirm leather sofa in non-A/C environment will be quite hot...tho i'm not sure what type of leather the sofa uses...

i think u need to go to reputable shops to get good quality stuffs...from my experience, shud not go to that shop who let their price do the talking...i bot a 'leather' recliner from them few years back - originally wanted a RM200 fabric recliner as advertised in newspaper but after much persuasion by the sales man, i ended up paying RM850 for the so-called leather recliner.

the recliner came blazing hot, i tot it was becos it was exposed to the direct sun while on its way here on the lorry...my room A/C is always on..but even after few weeks 'exposed' in a fully A/C room, the recliner still gets very hot after 30mins or so sitting on it...

worse still, after 1 year or so, the springs underneath the reclining mechanism literally starts popping out one after another...

number 1, i'm not entirely convinced what i bot was actually 'good quality' leather as claimed by the sales person, in fact, i don't think its leather at all but i dunno of a way to prove it...

secondly, the quality of the mechanisms...hrrrmm..

i'll never buy anything there anymore...

I'm looking for leather sofa too...but I already decided to buy leather sofa made by Chanel - local manufacturer. (http://www.chanelsofa.com/catalog/New_Product-n-24.html)...

Now I just need to find a furniture shop that selling it cheap...Already found one at Wangsa Maju selling at RM3850 (2+3) for Elegant model...One more model i'm interested is the Luxury model but do know the price lor...
Looks very modern and classy... drool.gif

I heard that Lorenzo also also buy some of their sofas model from this manufacturer but selling price is high.
Anyone have any ideas where I can get this sofa cheaper?

That's cheap. When I bought 2 + 3 without the 1 is about 5k ~ 6k last time.
It's not so hot when the A/C is off.
Well, my house is not so hot to start with.

I just bought a huge 3 seater L shape sofa. It measures about 11' long. I'm very particular with sofa and I have been through not less than 10 shops including the brands mentioned.

Lorenzo has the latest designs. They are price leader (local brand, some may argue it is a Singaporean brand)

Quality sofa = sturdy frame work + quality leather + quality sewing.

I bought mine from Future sofa. I opted for latex padding and thick leather. The sofa gives a firm feel to it. Happy with the purchase.

Anyway, sofa is a very personal item. One must try before buy.

I bought Milan Sofa during Home Deco months ago. 2+3 seater cost RM2100.

Leather, but of course some part using PU. For me, Leather is for our comfort. So no point to have leather for the whole sofa.

I tried the black 1+2+3 black sofa, thick sofa, firm, big arm rest and American size. That is good. Half leather and asking for RM5k+ quoted by the sweet young lady. It was located right at the corner deep inside. Full leather retailed for RM10k+.

Somehow, do you feel that big sofa and big arm rest resembles authority, power and richness.

No la, I bought leather sofa from Future. Klang branch gives better price, look for Ah hee. Not many have thick leather upholstery to choose. Be frank, Future did not have many color to choose from.

I paid RM4k for my set. Others like
Channel has a comfy feel,
Rozel has great designs,
Affredo, nice and firm,
Lorenzo, high price
Gucci, comfy
Lavino, currently having moving out sale
DSM, uses leather bond
Casa Italy, quite cheap
Rubelli, great designs,
Even, got good reviews

and many more house brand sofa OEM by unknown sofa factories.

Color is important because the minute your guest walk into your house, sofa grabs attraction. Best advice, match your sofa color with your wall and your feature wall color from same color family. That would make your living room lively and create depth.

L shape seems to be the trend now for condo/apartment. It utilise space better.

That's true but how do you actually identify they key difference between the full leather and the half leather type sofa. From what I understand, you need to feel the material at the back of the sofa (fully wrapped leather) and also the bottom of the sofa. Is there anything else for your to check out instantly before signing the DO?

Very much depend on your wall color. If your wall is beige and your furniture is dark color, you would like to have a light color sofa. White or cream is very popular among the younger gen. Actually if you do not have feature wall, a pastel blue sofa will act like one.

Price point is one indicator and secondly, buy from a reputable shop. You can also see the leather print. If it is uniform, chances are PU leather. Of course you could cut a piece of the suspected leather from the bottom where the leather is stapled to the frame and buy them with lighter. PU leather will catch fire, genuine leather will not.

True. We all have habitual seating preference. The sofa will present different color tone.

That why my wife resent white sofa.

I'd suggest that talk to the manager to sort thing out, if things not resolved, write to Hotline and complain. If that also did not help, publish the name/brand of sofa so that they know what is consumer right is all about.

Lorenzo full leather sofa, so comfortable but the price is high.

If not talk about price, anyone agree and feel Lorenzo is a best choice to get full leather sofa in terms of comfort, quality, durable and design?

Hope to hear your comments or feedback.

I bought one from an OEM export to Europe, called Muchen vutton or something like that . Build quality is good, and the sofa comes standard with pocket springs. Width of the seat and foam hardness is customizable. To me it's more value for money compared to Lorenzo. It's comfy enough that I will always feel sleepy whenever I sit on it.

This is the sofa set that I got for my condo unit but it hasn't arrived yet. Well the search for sofas can never end and the final decision to actually purchase is tough. Well I'm planning to sell this sofa set below and was wondering whether anyone is interested? It is about 9 feet + and when I compared it against the measurement of my condo, I thought a bigger one would be nice. Is anyone interested, do contact me. Thanks.

both looks to be same design, different color and different size only right?

light color seems better to put in smaller space, at least from my opinion.
are there any color choice in-between? (darker than the right one, but not as dark as the left one)

Anyways the whole of last weekend, I did some FABRIC sofa shopping. My aim is a 2+3 Sofa. My budget 2.5-3k

a) Macy - with their promo now till 4sept, bradford set 2+3 Rm2699 is quite worth it ( designer selection fabric to choose from). 5yrs warranty on frame/cushion
b) Caccina - Went to their clearance showroom, more of leather sofa than fabric. Even then, not much choices on fabric. Price is quite reasonable
c) Vovo design - This is the first sofa shop that i ever went to. price is quite reasonable @ 2.4k, i need to revisit again to benchmark its comfort/quality
d) Fella design - I'm impressed with the quality, verysturdy built. Promotion til 31 Aug. Bad thing, their design is mainly flowery. kinda, a thing in the past. Sturdy 3+2 starts from 3k. (after promo price)
e) Lavino/Milano Haus - Display set sofa. Design and comfort quite ok. price is reasonable (well, display set?) from rm1.7xx k
f) red apple - Quite ok, but it wasn't my taste
g) Miva - not many 2+3 design available
h) Mavis - i couldn't find the shop/showroom..zzzz
i) Cavenzi - out of my list..what u pay what u get
j) Bahagia- quite ok design for its price. but we skipped it

Plan to go to
a) Lorenzo

Most sofa comes with warranty, you might want to check things out.

My guests came and were impressed with the quality and seating comfort.

I called Future Sofa and told them some glue gives way, they were at my door step 2 days later to collect and to rectify my sofa.

Not on price alone, they are not the cheapest in the market nor not the most color to choose from nor the design leader, but great customer service and an honest company. Based on this alone, I strongly recommend their products. Peace of mind!

I'm just a satisfied customer.

Damn worth the money paid for, as i instantly knew it was a good buy for the quality and fabric. bought without 2nd thoughts, and i even wanted to buy a second L shape design. (been to over 10+ shops few months earlier, so i knew which quality / price)

Well, I am sad to tell you all that the sofa I bought from Future Sofa sinks and now due to the poor lumber support, I develop back pain.

The leather cracks at the stitches, the bonded part also bunch up due to poor bonding. Call and email to them, no reply what so ever. Before buying they guarantee n years warranty.

Only one year into service, my sofa looks very worn off. FYI, neither kids jumping on the sofa nor abuse. This again shows the warranty offer is only empty promises. Try complain after a year and see if you get any assistance?

So, I am back out looking out for sofa again. Future Sofa will definitely not on my list.

Just to share with you guys, mine is from Lorenzo. 2+3 for RM3k. I bought it 2 years ago during promotion. So far so good. No cracking even though I never apply any leather protection product since day 1. Leather still looks new. And definitely no sinking in as well.

just worried that the furniture malls might end up in smoke (literally) as there have been a number of cases the malls around KV got burnt down...

no worries, sharing is caring smile.gif

make sure if u guys want to buy sofa do enough research and check very carefully when they deliver u the sofa.

most seller they can tell u is full leather from italy. end-up they give u china-made leather doh.gif sumore they can offer u below 3k...from what i know italy full leather cost itself is about 3k...they will never sell at cost for sure.

if u want safe, go for fabric instead....this 1 surely cant cheat on customer...lol

Last December 2012 I went for a Furniture Expo in Ipoh named as HOMEX. A lot of SOFA Manufacturing companies was exhibiting their products.I was looking for a good quality leather sofa. After spending 4 hours in the Expo I came to a conclusion by a sofa from a Manufacturer from Kajang factory but they have the show room in Ipoh called as COMFORT NITE TRADING.After long discussion about the leather with the salesman, I was showed a leather type which is sounds like roppelly leather. Me and wife discussed about the color of the sofa and choose a light color from the leather album showed by the salesman. The salesman man wrote down all our details in the PO including the color code of the leather. The cost of the sofa was RM 4200. We paid RM 1000 as a deposit.

We waited for more than one month for the delivery of the sofa. After making a few calls the agreed to deliver the sofa on the 18th January 2013.To my surprise the sofa WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT COLOR THAN WHAT HAD I ORDERED. I called the salesman to inform this but the salesman argued that he have delivered exactly what was I ordered. After the argument I told him that I don't want to accept it and I'm returning the sofa. The salesman told me that he will replace it after discussing it with his BOS.

After two days the Owner of COMFORT NITE called me to discuss about the problem. But he seems doesn't want to admit his mistake infect he want me receive what has he sent. After long argument I said to cancel my order and return my deposit. The Owner of COMFORT NITE said that he will cancell the order but he will not return the deposit of RM 1000. This is what is called as DAY LIGHT ROBBERY. This where I told him that I will go for CONSUMERS TRIBUNAL and he challenged me to go anywhere to complaint.

What will be the advise for me to claim back the deposit money.PLEASE BEWARE THE EXPO SOFA DEALERS, THEY ARE WAITING FOR VICTIMS....Please spread the news to new sofa buyers......

i dont have experience in furniture for tribunal but on electrical item yes.....

here what u can try to do.....did ur receipt got the sample of color u choose? did u take photo of the sofa they send u? is the sofa with u or oredi return? proof of purchase in black and white. then as usual for me i prefer to send a register letter to the shop and give them 7 or 14days times for them to settle ur stuff. after the 7 or 14 days no respond then u can file ur case to tribunal but make sure u keep all the document so it is easy for u to degend urself.....i really not sure it this work on purchasing furniture....it work on defect warranty.....

If you must buy used furniture, at least try it. Make sure there is no sagging, leather wear (usual) but not torn or surface bubbling, mechanism in good order. But then again, you could get a new one pretty close to this price. No?

I got a very bad experience with Lorenzo. I bought a cabinet display and when they deliver to my house found the light is no on, and need to wait for their technician to come and fix. New unit but light malfunction.
They promise will come back to me but end up i have to call them to follow up after few days, they told me due to their manager is oversea and they unable to arrange anything until the manager come back. -LORENZO only have a manager?????
Finally the technician come over on weekday but not weekend after another week. i have take 1 day leave since its normal working day. They promise come on morning but show face after lunch. 2 guys come for 3 hours but still cant fix the problem.
And i have to call back to his office to inform them the technician couldn't repair and they will rearrange another so call more technical team.
After 1 week, they are no one call me and i have to call them, and the answer is they arranging ppl coming to my house this evening, shit no proper arrangement from LORENZO, since i'm in outstation then they will call me again to reschedule the appointment.
I totally disappointed to LORENZO, and i promise will not buy a single thing from them
1) No after sales service
2) No professional team

I bought a custom made leather sofa from a sofa company called AKY Furniture. Very reasonable price and good quality. Excellent service.
They come and measure my living room and advice me the appropriate size and even show me all the sample parts inside the sofa before we confirm the deal.
I know not many furniture company can custom design sofa according to your living room.
You can find them at www.akyfurntiure.com

anyone heard of Valencia sofa?
I passby their shop today, so decided to just check out their sofa, L shape about RM3688. Half leather.

Is this brand reliable? and for that price is it reasonable?

Hi, wanting to know feedback from those who purchased caccina leather sofa from Calitalia Design. Just visited their new showroom at Dsara Utama. Was informed their factory in Puchong. Made in Msia sofa, leather imported from Italy . 6 years warranty.

Was quoted RM10k for full aniline (2 tone) 3 seater leather auto recliner (original RM15k) and RM6K for single auto recliner (original RM8k). Mighty expensive but seriously very comfy and nice soft leather smile.gif

Any advice and feedback ?

As leather is natural material, it is porous and it breathes. In case of indoor leather furniture, it warms to our body in winter and cools the body in summer. But do remember to use good leather conditioners on every 6 months. Even if the leather is expensive, I prefer to buy it as it’s much worthy.

I have been searching for a leather sofa set (1+2+3) and shortlisted, Rozel and Lazio, both price is around 5K for full leather.

Both have differences which makes it hard to choose from,

Rozel
1) 5 years warranty on frame only / 60days on stitches / No warranty on leather.
2) Uses high density form. No pocket spring or latex
3) Design is more modern (less stitches Pattern)
Attached Image

Lazio
1) 3 years warranty on frame, stitches and sunken seat.
2) Uses latex, high density form and pocket spring.
3) Design with stitches on seat which they claim to make it comfortable than others.
Attached Image

Is there any big difference without the spring pocket? Some claimed that its better not to have the spring pocket as the it will puncture the foam and latex in long run.

Please advise, which about the pocket spring and which to choose?

Thank you

How much ? & CS13 model, mimic the HATCH brand design ? i can see from the picture, the fabric (water proof material according to HATCH sale person) seats can pull forward for extra leg room.

Bought my sofa from Miva Creation for RM4.5k. Full leather. Very Satisfied with the comfort of the sofa. They told me this is export model because the depth of the seats is bigger than normal and the backrest and adjust front and back. One of the best buys of my entire renovation journey smile.gif

Don't have the exact measurements but it's about 9'6" if I remember correctly.

I saw the display unit at the SS2 branch and booked a new set there. Was offered to buy the display unit for RM500 less but because I was only moving in 6 months after, I decided to get a brand new set instead.

To be honest, I was quite worried about their service because they're not like super established in the market and I was actually booking it 6 months before delivery date. But my wife and I loved the sofa so much after trying it out (we actually decided on another fabric sofa already and was about to pay a deposit for that sofa on the day we booked this leather sofa) and I was pleasently surprised with the service by Miva. My sales person promised me 3 acacia fabric pillows but due to my oversight, it wasn't stated in the order form. Then when I called them up to ask for delivery, I found out that my sales person left the company already. I negotiated with the manager and he gave us the pillows without much questions asked. Confirmation of order to delivery went through smoothly and they delivered it on time. So all in all, it was a good experience with Miva.

its synthetic leather, higher density and more durable if u compare with pu/ pvc leather

for just 3 seater price is slightly higher for casa leather, price range should be starts from 1.6k, but it also depends on design too laugh.gif
