Guys, Just want to shared with everyone the laptop my friend purchase recently from Keypoint Computer Sdn. Bhd. during KL PC Fair.
The last PC Fair my friend purchase a ACER Mini from Keypoint Computer. My friend got the laptop when she turn on the laptop there is no software preloaded on the laptop while it suppose to have windows XP Home installed. So we went back to the shop to solve this problem but unfortunately the shop is half empty and only admin girl is handle the busy situation because we're not the only person there to complaint. The admin girl is so helpless because there is no technician around.
We so frustrated then we went straight to ACER service center at Times Square where the Service Agent told us our laptop is not a local set and they can't service the laptop for us. We're so surprise to heard our laptop is not local set. The Service Agent show us our laptop doesn't have SIRIM sticker and the software is register under US. He told us this company is well known of bring in oversea laptop to sell in Malaysia. Me and friend feel so bad and got cheated by this type of company.
When we purchase the laptop they didn't mentioned the laptop is parallel import.
Please be aware when purchase laptop during PC Fair.
The manager name is Eric 0127285766 and i already sent my complaint to Consumer Affair regarding this issue.

The last Pc fair, almost every booth has put up printed notifications of such notebooks. Especially those from HP. I did not know Acer would also face this problem.
Anyway if your notebook is supposedly preinstalled with Winxp Home, there should be a windows OEM sticker with serial number on the back. Borrowing a XP home OEM CD from your friends or copy one from your friendly PC shop would solve your problem. The drivers you could just download from acer website.

Last time long long ago, Keypoint reputation already bad due to having court case with Microsoft for pre-install pirated software to customer laptop. Source: http://www.zdnetasia.com/news/hardware/0,3...30086250,00.htm

QUOTE(kelvin_hata @ Aug 22 2009, 02:21 AM) 2001... lolz money can do a lot thing.. so... learn buy original. don't always go for cheapest. Some people buy notebook with original microsoft software but some trader only stick some used microsoft sticker(which is illegal ). I told some of the customer before, they say I talk too much. Anyway, we just run business, unless customer think we are friend. Too many trick in Computer Trading. If interested, email me. Some PC hate me if I tell.

PC Fair is also a place for companies to sell their old stocks. Something like stock clearance tool for 'em.

it is not illegal to sell parallelly imported products. As a consumer, if you are buying, you need to know your rights. Buying parallel products means you won't get support from local distro. You only can get warranty from the company doing the product.
So if the seller provide lousy service then your are spoofed. Well, what you pay is what you get. Thing is, consumer in Malaysia don't see long term. They only see what is in front of them. That's the price. When things got problems already only they start to panic or complain.
