hmmm...

metal stocks in china today - Limit Down
Dalian CPO - Limit Down for a while but close off low..

every ppl in china crazy stocking metal(copper) at backyard/home
money borrowed should put/expand to business but diverted to equities like crazy.

could be another 'Tulip Mania'

In a long term, the trend is alway UPTREND... should not worry but if every day monitoring/speculating stock, that is very short term.

but most of us tend to short/medium term....

USA - jobless still climbing (if total all from beginning - no data if they getting job), ppl r turning from spender -> saver (lot of cut back) = not spending enuf..
banking sector - hit hard but can make billion and lost billion, if lost get help from gov..

maybe selling mask is a good short term business... smile.gif

That is true but in this context, where does the wealth comes from when everyone is bankrupt?

I've heard some people talking about "rollover" but I don't know how it works.

Precisely.
The West's nightmare scenario is to have a Japanese-style "Lost Decade".

The western governments will do anything - are doing almost anything - to get consumers to spend again. And that means debt and freeing-up the supply of credit. The problem right now is that western banks are holding onto the Q.E. money to re-build their balance sheets rather than increasing available credit to Joe Public.

In the UK (for example) - BOE BLR is 0.5% and LIBOR is at historical lows - but the banks are charging 6%/7% for mortgage lending with 20%/25% LTV - so no one can afford to borrow - especially with the growing threat of unemployment.

THAT is the nub of the whole problem. But...it is solvable...

I wouldn't be so fast to pull the BUY trigger yet if you're long. When I said 10%-15% pullback, it means on general indices. Since some volatile stocks have moved up more, they could move down even more.

Stocks are clearly overbought.. hence the excuse here now are the retracement, profit taking, consumer sentiments.. all lump into one.

We shall see if there are buyers later at closing and if are, that means sideliners are still waiting.
If not, we'll continue to see down trend tomorrow and perhaps through the rest of the week.

Meanwhile, I'll just let my remaining shorts ride the bear. biggrin.gif

Oh yeah! Down Baby Down! rclxms.gif

Easy.

Cash is simply being "created" out of thin air.by the central banks.

No problem!

There is no extension on futures contract, once expired, need to settle.

But one can rollover the contract each month by selling the spot month, then buying the next month contract.

Just like now is Aug is spot month, so it will expire on 28 of Aug. So on 28 Aug, you sell at 1160 (let say) and (if you are long in the first place) the Aug contract, at the same time, buy the Sept contract at 1160 which incurred Rm25 trade commission on both transaction, it is a rollover already, as you artificially extend the length of the futures which you own. You rollover the contract with Rm50.

Added on August 17, 2009, 11:10 pmSo in this way, you can hold the futures for long term investing purposes.

The corollary of which is that debt/credit does not exist and that therefore debt does not ever need to be re-paid. hmm.gif

Try telling that to CitiBank when they send you your Visa credit card statement! laugh.gif
