Hi mate  wave.gif Long time no see. How much you bought the backlid keyboard? can share the price here? Tempted to change mine too.
Which version of driver? 10.3?
Hey, I'm currently using S1537 but I never change my battery before. Have you consider changing the battery INSIDE the laptop battery instead of directly buying a new one? I saw some seller offer that service in garage sales, you maybe can go there and survey it.

bro.. sorry for late reply.. biggrin.gif
i got it for RM80+ only.. backlit.. original one... from china..
hehe.. so those who want to upgrade, can go aliexpress to check it out...

Oo... discussed subwoofer?? I personally feels that my s1555 speaker rocks. U can't compare them with any other laptop with just 2.0 sound. I can feel the bass very truly. Whenever i play a song, and place my palm on the keyboard, the vibration is very true. Compared to acer 4937G(old model, with dolby home theater?? somethig like that) and compaq cq-40(with 'altec lansing')... s1555 easily kick them off!!! And...

@whiteangel
actually before this, there's bass boost and low frequency protection for my 1555... u can get to it through start-->type sound-->then u can get into those settings. in enhancement page under speakers' properties, there's bass boost and low frequency protection where windows will not play sound lower than certain frequency.
THIS IS BEFORE I REINSTALL IDT audio driver...
After i install, bass boost and low level frequency protection option can only be seen in headphone properties page. Maybe that is the problem. Personally, i think s1555 speaker is nice, compared to other laptops. and compared to some small 2.0 speakers too... for a laptop, i think that the SQ is just nice. don't expect too much from it. haha
*
mine only have bass boost, virtual surround, room correction and loudness equalization
don't have low level frequency protection unsure.gif
did u guys tick the "bass boost" option?
and how much decibles you guys set at base management on the IDT audio panel. IDT audio panel > Speakers/Headphones > Settings > Bass Management

changing the speaker size to M and L gives me weird sounds on high frequency but clearer a bit
wow bro, you set your speaker volume to max? wouldn't it break your speaker and caused cracking sounds?
usually my default volume is 25 and goes around 35/40 at windows mobility center listening to music and watching videos with "normalize" option on players

Is there anyway to buy the keyboard from dell and ask them to come fix it? And how much would that cost? yawn.gif

Hi guys laugh.gif
I have a DELL Studio 14. I understand the screen resolutions are way higher than other notebooks around. At max. resolutions, the screen is very clear and nice looking (but a little bit too small). However, when I want to decrease the resolution (say to 1280x768 etc), the wordings/ pictures on the notebook become blurry. I was wondering whether it is the same for all other Studio laptops?

My Studio 14 is an old model with Core 2 Duo. No dedicated GPU.
Thank you very much! icon_rolleyes.gif

if u want dell to come onsite and change for u.. please prepare RM150+ for that.
to change it is not so hard.. actually is pretty simple.. i did it in 10 mins.
some bro here posted how to open ur laptop and change it guide from dell.
i also follow the instruction only... u can upgrade ur backlit keyboard by urself... only RM80+.
and yes.. the manufacturer i bought from is the OEM supplier for dell so the keyboard looks exactly the same as the one dell selling.

... not just other studio laptops... All display is like that... For example, studio 15(mine) resolution is 1366x768. That means the lcd got 1366 vertical lines and 768 horizontal lines(of pixels). Means.. in a row, there's 1366 pixels and there's 768 rows. Therefore, the display is utilized to display at 1366x768. When u lower down the resolution, like 800x600, the pixels are stretched. Not longer 1 pixel as 1 pixel... Maybe 2 pixels are used to display 1 pixel in 800x600.

Therefore, it becomes blurry. I don't know how to espress what i know. haha

Hi all sifu,

I'm currently looking for a laptop with price range around 3-3.5k, not a hardcore gaming user but emphasis more on the built-in quality and performance. 1st time buying laptop, hopefully can get some advice on what laptop to buy.

Thx.

Thank you very much for your reply laugh.gif
Yes I understand what you mean notworthy.gif
But its just weird because my F60 (1366x768) can set to (1280x768) without any blurring at all whereas the Studio 14 will blur with every resolution settings except for the highest one rclxub.gif Its very nice looking but its a bit too small haha laugh.gif
Anyway, thanks again bro, I really like the Studios design rclxms.gif laugh.gif

What's the battery life usage per charge for Studio15?

is it standard for DVD burner slot load or optional?

I know some of you guys have discuss this before
but does everyone have problem with their dvd rom/drive/optical drive?
I hate this slot load drive as I face these problems. Did anyone succesfully asked them to change your optical drive and doesn't face this problem anymore?

1. Install windows after formatting. During installation, the disc would run and stop for a while and then run and stop after a few minutes making the installation slower to complete.

2. Copying a single big size movie and data takes a longer time which I assume the read speed is slow since my desktop can copy 18-20MB/s according to the copy speed at "more details" running non stop. Studio 15 dvd drive only copies at a low speed from 5-8MB/s with many stops and resume in the middle process.

3. Watching movie from a dvd disc is a fuss and really makes me angry. I keep facing intermittent pauses every 5 second due to the disc stopping and resume. I have to copy the movie into the hard disk and watch which is troublesome for me.

studio is one of the best choice to go. i bought it 1 year back and still running like a charm (no format, no nothing fancy)
yes.. a bit slow compare to new.. more load to boot up and it's normal ( i installed more and more software on it).
good for gaming (i am also not a hardcore gamer), so i play it once a while when i got time.
my batt life is good coz i'm using 9 cell that can easily last for 4 hours.

My studio's warranty just expired!~ Still going strong... Battery 100% charged can still manage to go up to 3 hours!!(pure surfing only... Not PSing or Gaming)... My DVD also not giving me prob(btw... i rarely use it too...) The speaker is nice(but i just got an edifier m1335 to get better sound). Still no scratch on my s1555(protected with transparent sticker from ezstick(not confirm... forgot edi)
The only prob for me is... the volume of the headphone jack... with headphone... around 36 is max i will go... for my new 2.1 speakers, i will go until about 20 only... 100 will kill them(headphone and speakers) i guess...

last week, i'm having some problem...a silver line under task bar is blinking / i got horizontal lines...just below task bar... i went to search for troubleshooting..
it says the problem is from magnetic field? i'm usually used broadband..is it effect to the problem? how should i remove it? i'm using dell studio 15...

this is what i got for solution...but i still don't understand..T____T
how to do step by step?

''CRT monitors are often more prone to outside interference than LCD monitors. Interference can be caused by devices that transmit radio frequencies (RF) (such as a baby monitor or CB radio), or devices that produce magnetic fields (such as a motor in an electric fan), or even by just having a tangle of power cables on or near the monitor.

Radio signals can interfere with the signal going between your computer and monitor, and in some cases can cause horizontal lines to appear, as well as other interference. To reduce interference, move the RF device away from the computer, or move the computer and monitor away from the device.

Moving magnetic fields (such as from an electric motor) can cause flickering when near a CRT screen. A static magnetic field, such as from your computer's speakers, can cause color shifts or incorrect colors in the area near the magnet. This color shift is caused by parts of the screen becoming magnetized. Occasionally the color shift will remain after you remove the source of magnetism. To help reduce or eliminate the color shift, you can use the degaussing option on most monitors. Most newer monitors automatically degauss when you turn them on, while older monitors might require you do to it manually. Most monitors have a button or menu option that enables you to degauss it manually. Degaussing a monitor will de-magnetize the inside of the monitor, removing the color shift. Unfortunately, if the monitor is exposed to the source of magnetism for too long, degaussing will not be able to clear it up, requiring you to repair or replace the monitor.''

Oo... But the solution u found is for flickering... Ur case is just the lowest part of the lcd. i don't really know. haha!~ but if it's something to do with magnetic field... maybe u got speakers around(old speaker that is not magnetically shielded). If yes, then it may be the problem. Newer speakers mostly magnetically shielded. Won't affect monitors.
