ASNB Unit trust fund are mostly for those in the long term maybe around 8 - 12 years period. If you all look at the Fixed-price historical dividend rate for most fund (open to all malaysian, exluding ASB), the dividend rate is always above 6%/sen every year. For ASW2020 The highest is 10.10%/sen in 1997 & lowest is 6.30%/sen in 2009. For ASM the highest is 6.8%/sen in 2008 and lowest is 6.25%/sen in 2009. So those who invest in long term can see their money growing bigger. Wanna faster way, can invest directly in bursa malaysia with the yearly dividend average 7% for dividend oriented listed company. (hint: mostly sin stocks)

For more info on historical dividend rate can see at http://1-million-dollar-blog.com/dividends/

Davinz18 & MGM, I know what u meant. The example I quoted is also long term, I used 10 years investment period horizon. I just help the readers here to look at different side of the coins.

Every year they annouced they will distribute part of the profit the rest will carried forward to the following years, every year they hv the same script in the annoucement. There is no incident whereby they mentioned " we make lost this year, profit is distributed from the profit brought over", meaning they hv surplus almost everyyear.
And where are the surpluses gone over the years and Since it's inception?

my family has been invested in pnb funds for more than 20 years before ASN and ASB were split.

I invested some of my money in ASB. Just to have a peace of mind that a portion of my money is making profit each year, though not much.

I invested some in unit trust too. Hoping that another portion of my money is making larger profit compared to ASB. But unalike investing in ASB, there's always some worries that I'm not going to make much profit for certain year. Since service charge already 5.5%. If I invest at 'wrong time', I'll take longer to make larger profit too.

ASB never force you to invest with them. It's your choice what to do with your money. They have stated clearly what to expect when you invest with them. No institution & nobody is going to promise you a 10% profit guaranteed each year for your investment with no lost. There is no easy money....

Well, i do agree that peace of mind are also important as well..

In my previous investment, investing in equity funds, i am worried sick..

It is holding me back and i keep think about the risks that i have to take..

Then, since as a chinese investor in ASNB fixed price funds, i could only keep trying to bank in my monies (since the quota for chinese is limited), but at least i dont feel worry so much..

You are comparing fixed price fund (ASB) and floating price fund (like ASN). ASB is only for bumi, so u r blessed. However it is limited to 200K per individual, most of my bumi friends max up their 200K by loan easily. if u want to invest more u need to try other funds already. ASW2020/ASM/AS1M is good, but bumi quota also selling fast and full most of the time.

I'm not comparing la..I'm just replying to those persons who were asking & 'complaining' where do all the surplus go after they pay dividend to ASB investor because ASB never announce lost. So I said, ASB have stated clearly what to expect if we invest with them. It's our choice to invest with them or not. So we cannot complain. There's no way we can get guaranteed profit esp. at very high dividend with zero risk.

Bumi or not now not really an advantage I think. Since there's fatwa that said ASB is non-halal due to high percentage of investment in conventional bank. So I'm now in the process of withdrawing my money from ASB now. sad.gif

i think they freeze our account on 20/12.

if they accept your 2k for this year, the dividend for 2k in account for 1 month is around RM12...... sweat.gif

In my opinion, better keep the money in ASB, don't withdraw it if you really need it. ASB dividend is really good and even get bonus if keep more than 10 years. just my opinion, it's all depend on individual. cool2.gif

You got it wrong. We are not complaining...we just want more transparency.

FYI, not all Bumi are Muslims, there are millions of Bumis in Malaysia are non-Muslims. So being a Muslims cum Bumi, u are flooded with choices, U have many funds that other races cannot access to, such as Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera, Tabung Haji, and few funds under PNB.

Some clarification here:-
1) ASB propspectus did not stated what to expect....they did not indicate guaranteed how many % payout per year.
2) The profit/ dividend in ASB is not guaranteed.
3) It is not a zero risk investment, neither guaranteed by PIGM under BNM nor guaranteed by government. You cant find any statement in ASB investment prospectus that stated it is a zero risk and fully guaranteed by Government.
4) even if it is a complain = giving feedback, means hoping PNB that can do it better and improve it. Positive thinking ppl take complain positively....

The calculation of ASB is on monthly rest, based on the lowest balance of the month. So for your case, assuming ASB declare 7%, the formula is:
i) (104,000 x 7%) x 11/12 - for the first 11 months of 2011
ii) (100,000 x 7%) x 1/12 - for the month of Dec.

So the total dividend payout will be (i) + (ii)

Go to any RHB Bank branches and bring :
1. IC (chip must be readable). Otherwise, you can go to Maybank as Maybank can accept your driving license as reference too.
2. Passbook
3. Your thumb

Fill in the ASNB withdrawal slip and tell them you want to withdraw money from your ASB account.
