Some eurasians are considered BUMIputra eg. the Portugese descendents. So if your father is a Portugese and your mum is Chinese then u qualify. This post has been edited by MGM: Oct 25 2011, 12:47 PM |

They are not considered as Bumiputra but simply as those belong to the "special minority group" as defined by ASNB. |

QUOTE(MGM @ Oct 26 2011, 01:56 AM) Miles and more is right. Portugese is considered minority not bumiputera in tge context of Asnb fund. In Malaysia, religion is more important than race when it comes to defination of bumi. Was told in Melaka and Penang, as long as u r Muslim u get bi discount when buying property. If u r bumi from east Malaysia but non Muslim such as iban or kadazan then u will not get any bumi discount in these 2 states. |

QUOTE(MGM @ Oct 26 2011, 01:56 AM) I know and i completely understand and agree that it is very unfair to those fall into this "special minority group". However, they are not considered as Bumiputra under the Malaysian constitution. QUOTE(cheahcw2003 @ Oct 26 2011, 01:48 PM) Miles and more is right. She contested their decision and they finally gave in and opened her the AS1M under Bumiputra category. This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Oct 26 2011, 06:23 PM |

When I read ALL these 'filterings' and checks-and-balances just to invest, I just can't help but feel the pure Malaysian Chinese really don't have a place to stand in this country. Really habis, their future, especially so that their birthrate is dropping now, and their percentage of the population is diminishing lower and lower.
Perhaps other countries do practise racism too, but I bet the pure Chinese may have a better chance of survival, for themselevs and their offsprings' futures. Better belah from this place.... |

FYI, China has got more Muslims(Chinese) than Malaysia! As we all know, UITM only take in bumiputera students, they have a small quota open for foreign students. Few months ago, my friends intereviewed one Uitm Student that looking for job, she is Uitm graduate and a Chinese Muslim from China. Damn it!! foreign chinese Muslim is eligible to study at Uitm than the local chinese who is non Muslim, where Uitm is funded by Malaysian tax payers money. This has proven what i had said, in Msia, religion is more important than your race or country of birth when it comes to bumi benefit. QUOTE(natzakaria @ Oct 27 2011, 12:04 AM) Thank you for the congratulatory msg, I'm glad I have the resources to do so. As for you, you better be a crony..., otherwise, you wouldn't fare very well here too even with that name. Anyway, just to share here : I am of that similar type of name too, except that one side of my parents is not. Bye to you too, crony, or struggle hard for the future ! |

This has proven what i had said, in Msia, religion is more important than your race or country of birth when it comes to bumi benefit. Just a small counter-opinion again here : I have many Malay friends who are also staying overseas and having gotten their PR-ship. Some have gotten their citizenships too. So, I guessed it's not only the non-Malays who are migrating. Somehow, even with the special privileges of this country, they are not staying, preferred the overseas system. And it's not only the ones who have the money can move, the ones who managed to secure scholarships to study overseas can also move, provided they can find jobs oveseas, which most of the time, they are able to. So they continue their lives overseas,... I know there will be many irritations here after this statement. I did not qualify for a Bumi loan during my time, hence, studied in Singapore only, just for info. |

Was told from other website that AS1M bumi quota is nearly full. As now they allow EPF investment. Indian quota still available. Chinese quota is full |
