btw, my modem has no option to make it auto-connect to the internet...so is the ps3 able to connect
to internet using the manual method? i.e: type in username and password provided by ISP...

how can your modem have no auto connect to the internet? is it dial up?

sorry to say that my modem model zyxel prestige 650M series has no setting page...(normally log in to that page by 192.168.0.1/192.168.1.1)
went to other thread and read about this...someone else faces the same problem...and no fix for it yet...

so just want to ask ps3 can connect to internet manually?

if your modem is just a plain bridge (ie you connect via pppoe dialler in os), yes ps3 has its own pppoe dialler built-in. however i believe almost all modems today no matter how basic, can be used in router mode (ie auto dialling). consult the product manual

if the modem comes from the isp (eg streamyx), they may have changed the default ip and username/pass so it will not follow the manual.
